Sleepover!
Who: Forrest, all of his teenage CR, and CR of that CR
What: Giant sleepover log
When: The night of June 21
Where: Lakshmi's temple
Warnings: Cuteness overload
[Forrest has never had a sleepover before, so he's pretty excited to host one at his temple. He sends out invitations ahead of time to everyone he can think of, letting them know to bring pajamas, snacks, and even a friend or two if they want. He's clad in a frilly pink nightgown with ribbons and bows for the occasion, and he's temporarily converted Lakshmi's audience chamber into a space where the guests can all party and sleep. It was already mostly full of pillows to begin with, so all he had to do was move some more in and set up some tables for snacks and things. One of the tables conspicuously contains all of his beauty supplies, because like hell is Forrest hosting a slumber party without makeovers. Anyone who shows even the slightest bit of interest will get their makeup, hair, or nails done. Soft music and the scent of lotus blossoms drift through the air, creating the perfect atmosphere for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves.]
((OOC: If you've got a teenager that Forrest has talked to more than once, assume he invited them. Friends of friends are totally welcome as well. Everyone can feel free to put up their own toplevels, and everybody tag everybody and mingle to your heart's content!))

A (super late)
After talking to Forrest-sama about her, here's a person not only as described, but introducing herself. With a straight expression he returns the statement,]
I was going to say the same thing. You're Psyche, right? I'm Yukine, not one of the new shinki. Forrest-sama told me that you're trying to figure out spells on your own. [His expression clearly adds 'which is a bad idea'.]
[[ooc, and because this is super-late just let me know if you'd rather handwave it than play it out!]]
Np~
Well, sort of. I've been going through some notes on spells I took from the library and have been practicing it with other shinki.
[The new ones, at least.]
no subject
[Yukine crosses his arms as he considers it.
It's not even a 'deduction' to figure that she's been practicing with other new shinki. It would be better if they let him join, for many reasons.]
...Which spells are you trying?
no subject
[And then there was borderlines, but she was still working on that. It was easier than actual spells, at least. A bit curiously]
You seem like you're a bit familiar with them already?
no subject
I've already learnt some spells from my teacher. If you want, I can join your group and help you guys out.
no subject
Oh-um, we're not a group actually. It's just people I asked for help, since it seemed like this isn't exactly the sort of thing you can learn by yourself.
[She did smile a little though]
But if you want to help, though, that'd be great! I mean... theory can only take you so far, if you don't know for sure if you're doing it right.
no subject
I don't want to start a formal class or anything but- it's better than you trying to figure it out on your own.
[He shrugs slightly. There's not much to it in some ways, but it's still a lot to learn.]
no subject
[Chikusa in particular seemed pretty skittish about even learning spells in general, and she could understand why. Right now, at least three people had her 'name', meaning three people she was technically vulnerable to (four, including Yukine, though she was unaware). That thought was uncomfortable but it was a necessity.]
But I can ask? Or, I guess there's the BBS, but you probably don't want to be flooded by potential students.
no subject
Sure, go ahead and ask them. I'm not really looking to make it a formal group thing either, but if I can get in touch with people practicing spells a bit at a time, that'll help a lot.
no subject
[At the very least, Psyche wasn't saying no to the extra help. Tilting her head a little, curious]
What sort of spells do you know?
no subject
Bind. [Well, from Kazuma-san anyway. Not a book.]
But before that, are you confident with your borderline? You really should master that before you go off trying spells.
no subject
[Not perfectly though. She knew it wasn't as strong or stable as it should be and it didn't come to her as easily as her shockwaves yet.]
But they need more practice. Which I've somewhat been trying to do between spell practice.
no subject
'Some' things? You should be able to stop everything! And 'between' spell practice?
You really need to practice borderline before spells. Change priorities. [Seriously. Right now.]
no subject
Well, I didn't even know how to use a borderline till I was started learning how to use spells. According to the book, borderlines can be used to help protect you from a spell. So it just made sense to have one person doing borderline reps while the other person tries casting spells to get through.
[Of course, casting spells wasn't working yet so it became a lot more like borderline practice in a way.]
no subject
Okay, I see how you’d think that’d make sense, but you’ve got to admit it’s pretty useless when you don’t know the spell yet.
You need to learn borderline first. Then I can help you practice defending yourself against spells. Then you can learn the spell itself.
no subject
[To her credit, she doesn't sound put out or upset. Instead, she simply nods, before adding, a bit curiously]
How'd you learn that, then? Or did you just throw borderlines repetitively until something clicked?
[Repetition was important, she thought, but there was probably something more. Especially since she hadn't even been able to start materializing things until she added a thought about 'threat'.]
no subject
Yukine’s expression turns faintly smug at the question.]
Borderline wasn’t hard for me, but, [his expression falls into a grimace,] my god goes for the Spartan method. [Stupid Yato.]
Probably the most important factor is the mental- thinking that you really need a wall between you and what’s on the other side. That’s why practicing against ayakashi is easier. Finding a small, weak one on the Near Shore to practice against is more risky, but will work better than any number of reps here in Takagamahara.
no subject
[After all, she had Kairi throw borderlines at her and that seemed to help a lot more than anything else....which was another reason she'd been using spell practice as a way to practice.
[However, she gave a small smile]
But thanks for the advice, really. There feels like there's always something new to pick up here.
no subject
[Getting complimented for it will never get old though. Smiling a bit more easily, he puts his hands in his pockets.]
It is a lot to pick up, for both the shinki and for the gods. Don't feel bad about asking questions. I mean, all of this is so new you probably don't even know what to ask about but... you'll figure it out as you go.
no subject
[After all, being dead did pretty much mean you had a lot more time to learn things, right?]
Oh-um, but you probably still want to enjoy the party while you can, right? Did you need help with anything or do you think you're good?
no subject
Other than some guy eating all the good food before I could get in some seconds, it's been fine.
[He shrugs one shoulder and grins a little, to show her that he's mostly kidding about it.]
Thanks. I guess I'll talk to you later then.
