Sometimes life it takes you by the hair
Who: Midoriya Izuku, Todoroki Shouto
What: Mission 02
When: June 22nd
Where: Aidos's home -> Denmark
Of all the things he was expecting during lunch, one of Amaterasu's messengers was far from his mind. He takes the letter with a thank you. Once she's gone he reads it. Denmark? Well, as long as they don't need to speak to anybody it should be simple enough to go unnoticed. The added benefit to begin part of The Far Shore is going unnoticed by most of the living.
They've been tasked to look for potential clues about their arrival. Of course Izuku wants to take it. He wants to know what's going on just as much as anyone else might. But he's not alone in this partnership.
"Todoroki, want to go to Denmark?"

This close, though, he can pick up a lot about his friend and partner: his eyelashes, the spread of freckles across his cheeks, even the warmth from his face.
That kicks something in his chest, and he straightens up when Izuku disengages from the hug. They have Suijin to see, he can't think about the weird skip, or the fluttery feeling.

It all takes just moments, and soon there are three chairs set in a lose circle in a sunny part of the hall. A woman in a formal and elegant blue-green kimono approaches them and pauses beside a chair. Behind her stands a very tall young man wearing hakama, a length of cloth bound over his hair.
The woman nods slightly from behind her broad veiled hat towards the god first.
"Aidos." She knows more of him, having not spoken with him face to face before this, so introductions are in order.
"I am the Mizu no Kami, Suijin. This is my shinki." She makes a graceful gesture behind her with one white-painted hand. "His name is Kayo, vessel name Tsuki. He is commonly called Kayonaga."

Wait, is this how gods are supposed to address each other formally? The goddess he's the 'reincarnation' of is incredibly minor. As far as he knows she didn't have a title. Does he introduce himself as a god or a goddess- maybe he can skip that step entirely?
He bows his head to her. "I am... Aidos. This is my shinki. His name is Todoroki Shouto, vessel name Kouki. He's commonly called Todoroki."
Should he start his report now? There are chairs, so they're probably supposed to sit, but it seems impolite to sit before Suijin.
"The two of us went to Denmark and found an odd crop-circle-like clearing in a rural area." He'll pull out his phone and go to the pictures, showing them to her.

Rather than stay silent as his god gives the report, though, he contributes, even and calm when he straightens up. "The area had a strange, unsettling energy, one that was strong enough that the people living there would have felt it."
Because it was almost an overwhelmingly strong feeling, one that attracted ayakashi... he can't imagine that a mortal person would have been able to miss that. Especially with what the kids said.

"I see. Please, sit down. You came here directly, after all." And she settles into the chair beside her. Her shinki remains standing, just behind her at her shoulder.
Bringing the phone within her veil she silently she looks through the pictures once more closely, at one point using her fingers to enlarge the image.
"... I see." There is a certain gravity to her voice as she holds out the phone for Aidos to take back.
"First, as agreed, please report to me everything. Starting from how you came to find the circles." After a beat she adds, "Both the facts, and your impressions of how this is affecting the Near Shore. You may both speak. Take your time to tell your story fully. I shall simply listen to the end."
And Suijin shifts her posture incrementally to give the impression that indeed, she is listening carefully.
[[ooc: I have read your post myself, so feel free to abbreviate as much as you like! If there is anything your characters would expound on (or hold back on), please detail that for me.]]

They questioned a few children who noticed them if they'd seen anything strange lately. A young girl said she saw a lot of dead plants between two towns. From there Izuku pulled up Google Maps of the area, and located the circles.
They teleported to that location and immediately started investigation. There was an uncomfortable feeling around the entire area, heavy, miserable and oppressive. As soon as they got close to the circle they were attacked by a large birdlike ayakashi. They don't have any concrete evidence of this, other than the feeling, but Izuku is almost certain that the circle will keep pulling large ayakashi towards it.
Alright, he managed to keep himself from mumble-town, but it was a long spoken report. He has to stop and catch his breath for a moment before asking the question that's been weighing on his mind. "... I think it's too dangerous to be left there. Is there a way to contain it or to undo whatever is pulling ayakashi towards that spot?"

Suijin is easy to speak to, as well, despite the veil that masks her face from them. She's to the point, direct, and that makes being the same easy.
"Even if it's only a short term solution, until something can be done to remove it completely," Shouto begins to add, "The people of the Near Shore are at risk, so long as it's left like this."
Because he agrees - if they felt the ominous pressure of it like that, then surely the people of the Near Shore will. Ayakashi will be drawn to it, but so will people that don't know any better. Especially when it's so close to their own backyards.

Unfortunately, the seriousness of the matter of the circles allows for no tangents. She looks over at her shinki, and he wordlessly nods back.
"Something will be done," she says. "As you suspect, the Near Shore is at a great risk from something that strong." Gravely so.
After a long pause she asks, "Were either of you here on May ...5th, I believe it was. When everyone was sent to a town to help the troubled population, and a demonic creature appeared? If you were, I would like to know if your impressions of that event are in any way similar to this one."
no subject
"Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help." He might be displaced from his home world in this Japan's Heavens, but he's still a hero. If there's any possibility he can help people, he'd offer.
May 5th... he remembers that day-- the people who were in that town were thoughtless and despondent, walking directly into the streets.
"I was there. I've been here since mid-March. The... entire town felt... out of sorts. The people there weren't pay any attention to their surroundings. When I was there it was like despair was creeping over me the longer I stayed.
"There... was also some kind of... magic circle around the park. If somebody stepped inside of it bat-like ayakashi would attack them. It seemed like anybody who stepped in it felt the draining effects of the town immediately.
"So they're close, but I'm not sure if it's exactly the same feeling. Both times I felt uneasy. The circle in Denmark felt worse."
no subject
He inclines his head slightly, a wordless confirmation and agreement. Things had been... rather similar, true, but there's something about this particular circle that he can't put his finger on right away. At least, not until his partner says that it felt 'worse.'
"More concentrated," he offers, after a pause, turning it over in his head until he decides on a word. "That circle is set in one, single location, instead of spreading out over a large area."
no subject
"So then, the question becomes: is it the same person leveling up their ability, or is it something different."
Her tone implies that while she does not expect an answer from them this instant about it, it's not entirely a rhetorical question either.
Shifting her posture slightly, she subtly signals that their meeting is drawing to a close.
"You worked hard today. Thank you for your through report. Do either of you have anything to add or ask before we conclude?"
no subject
"You're welcome. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help with."
