[Open and Closed]
Who: Ayumu Yamazaki, Satoshi, and you!
What: Getting to know the neighbors + attempting to sell Vesta's stuff + Prayer #2
When: March 20 - 23, various times of day
Where: Takamagahara and the Near Shore
Warnings: None currently!
March 20st - Takamagahara, afternoon (Open)
[Outwardly, Ayumu seems perfectly calm as she strolls through Takamagahara. She's clad in a blue haori today, having decided that it'd be better to avoid garments that could restrict her movement outside her temple. She's largely kept to herself since her arrival, far more preoccupied with getting her new home in order and adjusting to living with a child under her roof. It's a big change and grave responsibility, one she takes quite seriously, but it's a daunting task, too. The last youth Ayumu had regular dealings with was Tetsu and he was a good five years older than Satoshi.
Adapting to such a quiet home and cooking and cleaning for two instead of a whole fighting force of rowdy men is difficult, too. She keeps making too much food and there are always leftovers and while that cuts back on the amount of meals she has to prepare, it also cuts down on the amount of time she spends doing her hobby.
Today, Ayumu's chosen to venture outside her temple for the first time since her return following the chocolate affair. She's currently going around to different temples with small plates of daifuku mochi - strawberry-filled pastries traditionally associated with spring. It'd be in her best interests to get to know her neighbors, she thinks, and get to know the layout of the area better.
Feel free to answer her polite knock on the door or intercept her in transit.]
March 21st and 22nd - The Near Shore, various shopping districts, all day (Open)
[ So far, Vesta's pantry seems very well-stocked but it's not going to last forever. With a child in her care, it's imperative that Ayumu take initiative and ward off potential financial problems well in advance.
One positive thing to come of the break in was the understanding that Vesta's temple had valuables that could be sold if Ayumu could find a buyer. But before that, she needs to find somewhere to appraise the items. And that's how she's come to find herself walking down a street of local businesses, carrying a priceless Roman urn in her arms, while she looks for a merchant or secondhand shop.
The Near Shore residents don't seem to be paying her any mind but an old-fashioned Japanese woman carrying an object that looks like it belongs in a museum might catch the eye of any Far Shore residents in the area.]
March 23rd - Near Shore, city hospital somewhere in Shikoku, morning (Closed to Satoshi; Prayer #2)
[The size and style of the hospital building are a little intimidating to Ayumu as they approach the front lobby. She may not know much about the modern world just yet but she does understand the importance of family. Having lost her own due to a strange circumstance very recently, the woman's worries about her mother's health and her ability to take care of her moved her to act on her behalf. She isn't sure what support or comfort she can give but there is solace in working, even if it's different from the type of work she's used to. It's still a job and Ayumu makes it a point to complete those to the best of her ability.
She turns to Satoshi, smiling down at him with a confidence she doesn't quite feel in this situation. The woman's concerns about being unable to support her mother through such a trying time certainly resonated with Ayumu's own doubts as to whether she's fit to take care of a child.]
Are you ready, Satoshi-kun?
[Ayumu's about to ask him if he knows his way around these types of buildings when she remembers that she'd know better than he would. ]
The lady we're looking should be with her mother right now...
[Hopefully, they won't get too lost on the way to her.]

March 20th - Aidos's apartment building
Luckily Deku was just heading out to look for a part-time job, so he'll see her in the halls.]
Excuse me, are you looking for somebody?
no subject
Hello. I'm looking for the residents of this... temple?
[She says it slowly, sounding a little confused.]
My name is Yumi. I'm new here and thought to bring my neighbors a gift.
[She holds up the plate.]
no subject
[But he's glad it isn't a Greek temple, that would have been much weirder for him.
He'll bow back to be polite.]
I'm Deku, it's nice to meet you. I'm also pretty new. How've you been adjusting to all of this?
no subject
[In her former life, she'd usually been under the command of others. Being the one in charge is a definitely shift in the power dynamics she's accustomed to. But at least, she had some experience acting as her brother's superior in the chain of command. Deku looks quite young.]
How about yourself? How are you holding up?
no subject
[He was in school to be a hero- which in a certain like he can kind of see God's being. Nonetheless there was no "god school" back home.]
no subject
[It's taken Ayumu this long to simply absorb the fact that she's been rescued from captivity and whisked away to a time far removed from her own. That, as gods, they can do no wrong has been the easiest for her to accept. As a shinobi, she has her own morality and code of honor she follows without remorse.
But Deku looks to be about the same age as Tetsu. Far too young to worry about such heavy issues in her opinion. He may be a stranger but it's still enough to trigger her maternal instincts.]
Is there a code you live by, Deku-kun?
[Her tone's gentle and kind.]
no subject
He pauses at her question. He supposes in a certain light what he believes a hero should be is his code.]
Yes. A hero protects everyone they can with a smile and a laugh and brings hope when things look bleakest. [That's what his number one hero lives by, and that's the kind of hero he'll become once he is a pro. But if she asked something like that...] Do you have one?
no subject
[Besides, after what he just said, she doubts he'd appreciate shinobi ethics like her own. And of course, she's still sorting things out a little. In the past, she needed no morals outside supporting her commander and the shogunate's goals. There had been no other life for her outside that.
Still, Ayumu feels compelled to answer with something less vague.]
I believe in doing one's duty, loyalty, and protecting your loved ones, even if it means sacrifice.
[Regardless of the tactics and methods Ayumu uses, those are the ideals she holds.]
Whether we can do no wrong or not, I plan to hold onto that!
no subject
[A little worrying, but a lot of being god is worrying to him. Part of it is being responsible for anybody's faith when he's not even a fully trained hero yet.
He'll just have to do the best he can.]
I also plan to stick to mine. Answering prayers is kind of like community service. So that's kind of familiar too.
no subject
[Ayumu smiles. In her mind, her own code isn't anything worthy of admiration. She's simply living life as she's always been taught.]
I prefer to think of them as jobs but that's what makes most sense to me.
[She can't really look at it as community service when the community is so far removed from anything she's known. And even in her own time, she was still on the outside looking in.]
no subject
[Just a very indirect sort of way. He's not quite sure what to think of gaining followers. Is it like gaining fans? That wasn't what he wanted to get into the hero business for.]
no subject
[Gaining followers is weird for Ayumu, too, but mostly because she's used to living in the shadows and being entirely unknown by most people. Though she supposes it's not all that different. These potential followers know her under a different name, much like most of the people back home. They follow Vesta, not her, but she may as well enjoy the perks.]
no subject
This seems like too much for two people. At least they all came furnished?
no subject
[But she'll think of something. If she's going to be stranded in another time, she's going to live as comfortably as she can.]
It's smaller than this, though. But I'm sure a building of this size could be useful in some situations!
[Such as if one needed a hiding place. Then again, it would be impossible to defend with just two people.]
no subject
I guess if anybody needed somewhere to rest or get away for a while, we have plenty of room for that.
no subject
[She can also think of far more martial uses for a building like this with sufficient manpower. It'd work very effectively as a barracks or perhaps a place to lure an enemy into an ambush.]
With enough men to defend it, it might make an effective fortress as well.
[Not normally a conversation she'd have with one so young but if Ayumu can help out a fellow newcomer to this god business, she will.]
no subject
It's big enough to hold a lot of people, but that also means they'd need a decently armed force to keep it from being overrun.
Deku is strong, but he can't be everywhere at once, and every one of the apartments inside of the complex has it's own balcony, which means a potential entrance.]
If it came to that, it could work as one. Hopefully that time doesn't come soon.
no subject
[Ayumu isn't prepared for that either but should trouble find its way to her door, she won't back down from a fight. The cost of losing some battles is simply too great.]
Of course, with some creative tactics, it could be used in other ways, too!
[She might not be on the same level as Hijikata but she's familiar with strategy, particularly guerrilla warfare tactics. Not all battles are won through brute strength or force alone. There's a lot to be said for finesse as well.]
Sorry, strategy's an interest of mine. Sometimes I get a little carried away!
[It's not a total lie. Ayumu does enjoy a good game of go or shogi now and then. Though today she came here to deliver treats.]
Oh, Deku-kun? Where would you like me to take this?
no subject
No, it's alright! It's good to consider the options we have here.
[He's good with on the fly kinds of strategies, he works with what he has at the moment and manages to make that work out.]
I can take it if you'd like. I live on the second floor.
no subject
[It'd give her a chance to get a good peek around at the place along the way. But if he's uncomfortable with that, she's not going to push it. They only just met after all.]
If you're not in a rush though, here you go.
[She offers the plate.]
no subject
Thank you. I'm on the second story, the first door on the left, if you want to come with me.
no subject
[Deku seems like a sweet kid, too, and Ayumu's not one to turn down pleasant company.]
no subject
[He starts walking back up to his apartment.]
no subject
[She smiles as she follows him, sketching out a mental map of the route as she goes. At present, she doesn't intend to do anything with the information but who knows when it might come in handy.]
Everything was much more traditional than this.
no subject
How's being on the Near Shore for you? There are a lot of buildings like this.
