005 | Sakura In The Night

Summary: Heaven is throwing a small party to view the sakura and let everyone relax.



After the absolute disaster that happened with handing out chocolates, the Heavens are tripping over themselves to make up for their inability to properly handle the situation. They are eager to make amends and assure everyone that they are hardworking individuals who want nothing more than to make everyone's stay here enjoyable or at least pleasant. To that end, they have invited all of the gods and shinki to a lovely flower viewing, since the sakura are in season.

And by 'invited', they mean 'mandatory', of course. You will accept their apology, whether you like it or not.

It's not all bad, though. The Heavens have provided various kimonos that can be worn, if you haven't brought your own, but you're not required to wear a kimono. They would, however, really like it if you did wear them. It's very traditionally Japanese, after all.

The party is taking place at night so that you can all hide your merrymaking from the Near Shore residents and also because the night sky is beautiful against the cherry blossoms. So try to at least enjoy yourselves while you're here.



Banquet

Every kind of food imaginable is available for your eating pleasure. On top of that, there are dozens of different kinds of desserts ready to be devoured as well. For the older crowd, booze has been provided and is being served by white-clad shinki bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. They are, however, refusing to serve alcohol to anyone who looks too young to drink, sorry guys.

Cherry Blossoms

The blossoms are absolutely gorgeous this year, and they are at the peak of their blooming right now. Nearly every single bud has bloomed and the pink petals are floating by everywhere you go. There is an ethereal light emanating from each of the trees, lighting up the area with a soft, pink light, yet it doesn't seem to be drowning out the brightness of the stars at all. It really is the most beautiful cherry blossom viewing anyone could ever hope for.

"Secret" Corner

Somehow, the Heavens have managed to make one small corner of the grotto into a completely secluded area. There is no marking or signs to indicate what this corner should be used for, but anyone entering it will suddenly realize that this is a place for lovers to meet privately. Only those that you enter the corner with will be able to notice your presence, and you will be unable to notice anyone else's presence as well. Enjoy yourselves, young ones!

Counselling

Off to the side, there is a tiny table set up with a small, nicely written sign that reads "Gentle Counselling". On the other side of the table is a sweetly smiling shinki who is willing to listen to your problems and answer any questions you might have. She is also here to help out any gods that are having a hard time dealing with knowing about how their shinki died and any shinki that is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that they are dead. Counselling will also gladly be offered to anyone who is still pissed off or upset in any way about what happened after White Day.

Because Battler is trying to woo every girl who comes his way and seduce her into the secret corner.

He can be seen chatting up the pretty ladies, telling them how beautiful they look tonight and how the cherry blossoms compliment their eyes and shit like that.

[ And while he might not have been a pretty lady far from it really, he does notice Battler's attempts at picking up a date. There's an amused chuckle as he approaches, shaking his head before planting his only arm on Battler's shoulder. ]

You're prolly coming on too strong, mate. Could've sworn I'd seen a few blush though so... good on you.

[ With that, he's going to motion to one of the passing shinki who offered him a drink earlier. Seemed like a pretty thing and rather polite after she figured that she was talking to a god. ]

How about that one? She's fairly cute, eh? Though there are a fine set of birds about. Can't blame you for wanting to pick out a few for yourself.

[Whoa, wait, who the heck is this?? Battler eyes him suspiciously before following the motion towards the cute shinki. Oh. Ooohhhhh!]

I-ihihi, thanks? But I think I can handle this on my own...

[He wouldn't know what to do if he actually landed one of these girls though oh my god.]

S'that right? You're looking a bit flustered.

[ All in good teasing, of course. But he eventually straightens up as soon as he's gotten his balance. ]

Haven't really tried to chat one of those birds up. They seemed a bit busy but it doesn't help to say hello.

[ And a small grin. ]

Unless there's someone you're saving the practice for then I can understand the hesitation.

[Battler waves his hands and shakes his head.]

No way, no way! I'm just talking to them, it's not anything more than that...!

[Well, maybe a little, but... only if someone likes it, yeah.]

[ And he can't help but laugh at that, playfully slapping Battler's shoulder as he takes one step away from him just in case he was making the poor thing uncomfortable. ]

Just fancy a bit of a chat then? I can agree to that.

[ There's a small hum though. ]

[Oh thank goodness, that was getting decidedly uncomfortable.]

H-huh? No, not really. Everyone seems pretty standoffish...

[His particular methods are not helpful, of course.]

You plan on engaging in that sort of relationship without first courting a lady?

[Battler's trying hard to impress Sheryl. So, so hard. Perhaps a little too hard for her liking... and yes, she did see him chat with other pretty girls.]

[She says with a smirk on her face.]

[He says as he has just been chatting up a bunch of girls, okay.]

[She casts a glimpse at the entrance to the grotto, then back at him with her hands on her hips.]

You won't be able to fool me so easily.

[So it's Niles's job to completely obliterate this man. This man who seems so excited to hit on ladies.

He would be destroyed.

Right when he was nearly scoring with a girl, he walked up into his space.]

Ooo, I know you've been looking at me all night, but I never thought you'd try to make me jealous.

[He moves in closer, slipping a hand over Battler's.]

You're driving me crazy tonight. Should we be alone? Away from all these eyes?

[He moves closer into him, and gasps.]

[Wait. WAIT PLEASE DON'T GO, CUTE GIRL! She seems to be freaked out by the proclamations this guy is making and is moving away so quickly.

For his part, Battler is looking really freaked out himself and very flustered on top of that, moving away from this guy as quickly as he can.]

W-w-what? What are you... what are you talking about?! I... I DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU!

[Yelling will definitely solve the problem, good job Battler.]

[He moves in closer to Battler, eliminating the space between them very quickly.]

Here I thought you liked it when people got into your personal space.

[He didn't lay a finger on him this time, only moving close enough to him so the space between them was barely an inch. And Niles could taste his fear.]

Or do you only do that to girls?

[Battler gulps, audibly, trying very hard to just stand his ground, but looking petrified all the same.]

...y-yeah. Just with girls. So...

[He clears his throat... and takes a step back.]

...I'm not interested in you. Sorry.

[deniles]

So, it's okay when you're in charge.

[He smirks, following in step. Because he's not letting Battler off so easily.]

And making girls uncomfortable. But I suppose when you're in charge, it's all fine. Isn't it?

Battler.

[ Enjoy an aggrieved lead shinki interrupting whatever stupidity is coming out of Battler's mouth. This is dumb, so dumb, and Hisoka doesn't hesitate to be loud about it. ]

Cut it out already! You're going to make Tsuzuki look bad, and he doesn't need the help.

[Uh-oh! Mom's mad!

Battler at least has the decency to look embarrassed, but he's still grinning about it all the same.]

Ihihi... Sorry, Hisoka-san! I mean, I wasn't doing anything bad though?

[At least, he doesn't think so.]
