Who: Everyone!
What: Tanabata Festival
When: All day July 5
Where: The Near Shore
Summary: The Heavens are throwing a party and you're invited!
Edit: OVERFLOW is here!

With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...
Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.
The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.
New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.

Stalls
- There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.
Performance
- A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.
Wishes
- Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.
NOTE: Please report any wishes your characters answers to the first comment on this post along with a link to where the wish is answered. There will be small bonuses awarded for answered wishes.
The Bridge
- As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

In Summary:
- Enjoy the festival
- Watch some quality entertainment
- Make and/or answer wishes
- Meet Orihime
- Traverse the bridge
- Have fun~

[ Usually games were all about luck and chance, and while that might be true in most instances, at festivals like this, there was always that one stall that wasn't quite on the level. The one where, no matter what anyone did, they could never seem to win.
Long story short, it's a good way to make money hand over fist.
But there seems to be a crowd forming around the stall, for the Chosen One has apparently arrived. With a small pile of prizes beginning to form, there appears to be someone in a multicolored kimono sitting at the bench, a look of deep focus creasing her brow.
The booth owner stands there with a somewhat perturbed smile on his face, his thick arms crossed as he watches this tiny girl fleece him.
Legitimately fleece him.
There was no cheating here; just a woman who, after stalking the booth perhaps a lot longer than she really should have, figured out the trick and was going to unmask this cheating cheat for what he was. It was a desire bordering on obsession. And, well, part of it was the thrill of competition.
Okay, a lot of it was the thrill, let's not fool ourselves here.
But it looks like things might turn sour fast, judging from how the booth owner's smile seems to fall a little more each time he has to hand her something new. It might be a good idea to drag her away... ]
[STALLS PT 2]
[ So somehow she manages to make it away from
her new obsessionthe game area unscathed, and with quite a few new friends. The toys she's managed to win thrown into a bag, it would seem the shinki is finally realizing that her need to unmask the cheater for what he is might not have been wise. What in the world is she going to do with all of this? It's just going to clutter up the church... (Well, maybe she would keep one of the larger ones for Timcampy to sleep on, at least)
Oh look, it's a person, and their arms look miraculously unencumbered by strange, brightly-colored plush animals. How fortuitous. ]
Excuse me.
[ Lux is all smiles as she approaches with her little technicolor sack, like she's some strange Santa Claus. Only smaller, less round, and with a sunflower in her hair.
Swinging her bag around, she pulls out some random animal(?). ]
Here! Happy Tanabata!
[ It's a thing! She might actually know what it is! (Spoilers: no she doesn't.) ]
[CLOSED TO ROXAS]
[ Sometime after she's off-loaded at least most of her spoils of the evening (she's kept a couple for gifts; someone has to like... whatever this is, the blond shinki finds herself at a pavilion not too far away, a few slips of colorful paper sitting in front of her.
A pen in hand.
Not writing.
In fact, she looks a bit uninspired, a hand rested at her cheek as she sits deep in thought, turning ideas over in her head. These were like prayers, weren't they? Or at least similar? ]
Is it all right to do this..?
[ She isn't talking to anyone in particular, but it is loud enough to be heard. ]
[CLOSED TO GOTEN]
[ Okay, so writing down wishes, as arduous a task as that proved to be, over with, Lux proceeded to the next "stop" of her festival tour: Food.
She wasn't a big eater per se, but the odd thing about being a shinki, the smell of it was beyond tantalizing. Her stomach roaring to life, demanding some kind of penance for walking around so long without trying anything, Lux flits about from stand to stand, looking to see what they have.
Everything seems so interesting, and admittedly, she's distracted. Sorry, Goten, hopefully you're watching where she's going, because the blond was about to barrel right into you. ]
Ah—!
[CLOSED TO ALLEN]
[ On the sixth, he would find something slipped under his door. A simple note in a light blue envelope, written in what would be familiar handwriting to him. ]
Allen,
I have heard that festivals are best celebrated together, and as this is my first, I want to make sure to remember it fondly. Won't you join me?
Lux
The details for where and when he would find her are unsurprisingly well thought out. Late into the evening, in what would be a somewhat secluded area near a stream. And when he did choose to arrive...
A large lacquered box sat beside her, alongside two other containers filled with some kind of round treat. There were a few other things sitting there beside her—what looked to be slips of paper and... were those some kind of fireworks? A lantern light sits at her other side.
Her back turned toward him as he approaches, she doesn't seem to notice at first, her chin tipped upward as she looks at the stars. Ah, it was getting a bit late... ]
[WILDCARD]
[ Got an idea? Hit me up at
1/2
They're leaving from the same place to the same place. (Is a note to meet later... really...?)
Well, he's going to presume that she had other people she wanted to meet up with first and probably so many things going on she needs to schedule herself...... It is Lux, after all--that'd make sense. She tends to have a busy schedule she makes for herself with these kinds of things.
But he's a bit surprised to see where the directions lead. So remote... did he end up in the right place? He was expecting it to be somewhere in the middle of all the festivities. (And it's probably as late as it is because he's really not the greatest at following directions.) But no--there was Lux and....
..........packed lunch??!
omg(Festival food but that's even better.) ]2/2
I'm not late, am I...? [ It's a bit bemused though, with a soft sort of smile and bright eyes. Lux, what were you planning really with all this...? Rather, she had planned all this? (Those look like fireworks even.) ]
no subject
Sometimes it's easy to forget to step back and take a breath. To do something for oneself. And, more than that, for someone who remembers nothing of her past, and knowing how much that bothered not only her, but him as well, she couldn't not do something.
To create a memory together. One she wouldn't forget.
...........and yes of course there is packed lunch, she knows what you're about Allen.
Seeing Timcampy float by, Lux smiles brightly, a small giggle escaping her. ]
Well, someone got here on time, I see.
[ She holds up a hand for Tim to perch on, should he so desire. Although, there was something else sitting there not too far away. Something a bit large, a bit rotund, and extremely yellow, looking more like a beanbag than an actual stuffed toy.
Turning her head toward him, she offers Allen that bright smile as well, although it's dialed back slightly. Earnest and genuine, but also very grateful. Not that she didn't expect him to meet her, but, well...
You two talked, didn't you? If he was smiling like that, then that means it went well, right? She could only hope. ]
Only somewhat fashionably.
[ She kids, she kids! And moving over slightly, she gives him room to sit. ]
I had no idea the view here would be like this. We'll be able to see the fireworks here, no problem.

Hey, don't you think you've got about enough of those?
[He nods at her stack of prices.]

Focused in, it looks like she might just, until Riku taps her shoulder. Breaking her focus enough to— ]
Hm?
[ Ah!
And there it goes, her perfect winning streak. The booth owner gives her a toothy, gloating grin as Lux looks from Riku, to the game, to the booth owner as he promptly gives her seat away to the next customer. ]
Hey, wait a second!
[ The blond huffs a bit before looking at Riku with a winced smile. ]
I guess he's decided I do.
no subject
He shrugs and smiles faintly back at her.]
Can't say I blame him. You cleaned him out pretty good!

Even we're allowed to make wishes if that's what your asking.

Jumping a bit and nearly dropping her pen, the blond turns toward—oh, it's you. The vegetarian with the tako chips. You know, the ones that she definitely doesn't have at least a few bags of back at home.
You might have started something, Roxas. Just maybe. ]
Ah, that's not—
[ She offers him something of a bashful smile. That wasn't the problem here. ]
I'm not sure what to write.

He watches her for a moment, then nods.]

But besides the food and a few games, the festival is kind of boring if you can't run around. Looking over at another stand thoughtfully he crashes right into Lux as she collides into him. It's unexpected so Goten goes stumping back a step or two before falling onto his butt.]
Ow....What was that for?
[He frowns at Lux----Oh, hey! Goten perks. It's okay to crash into friends!]
Lux!
no subject
But stops mid-sentence when, wait, she knew that voice. And looking down, her expression brightens. ]
Goten! Goodness, I'm so sorry, you aren't hurt, are you?
[ Lux, he tossed you into the stratosphere the last time you two met, he's probably fine. ]
no subject
No way, I'm fine! It'd take a lot more then you bumping into me to really hurt! You're not that heavy, remember?
[He pushes himself up and pats his yukata down a bit. Trying to get some of the dirt off. Though he doesn't put too much effort into it as he focuses on Lux again]
Where are you going anyway? It had to be somewhere fun if you were gonna run me over...

Whoa! Hi, Lux! You must be really good at festival games! That's a lot of prizes! Is this one for me? Thank you! It's so cute!
no subject
Well yes, she was good, but not for any reasons she would actually want to admit to. Outsmarting the booth owner, yes, sure, that's fine. But the borderline unhealthy obsession with winning just to expose his misdeeds; that, not so much. ]
I'm glad you like it!
[ Her smile brightens at that, as she adjusts the sack of multicolored toys slung over one arm. ]
But I'm not quite sure what to do with the rest of them. I can't exactly bring them home.
[ She may not have thought her cunning plan through. ]

That's right. I have more than I know what to do with, so please.

How did you get so many?

But while the gift is both surprising and appreciated, there's not really going to be a thanks forthcoming. Not with her hands full anyways.]
omg!!!
So, as if to reassure her, the small shinki shrugs her shoulders up slightly, head quirked to one side. ]
Consider it a gift, in honor of the festival here.
[ ..........well it's not a lie. But she would rather not have to deflect questions from both Allen and Link about how she managed to get so many.
Her pride. Her pride and mild obsession.]Re: omg!!!
A half second later she perks up and begins to shuffle around, tucking the gift under her arm to free up her hands to type into her phone, which she then holds out when she's done.]
Thank you very much.

Stalls Part 2 because of course.
Uh, happy Tanabata--
[He says it back almost automatically, flustered. His face colors slightly as he gets a better look at what Lux had given him: a brightly-colored fox. The craftsmanship is questionable, but...]
Where'd you get this?
[And can he really have it?]
no subject
But that's okay, all of those obvious seams and lackluster choices in materials don't take away from how cute(?) it is. Probably.
Well, someone probably thinks it's cute.
Smiling when he asks, it's a mix between bright and somewhat hesitant. That she probably shouldn't give him the full answer, but at the same time... ]
At one of the booths. I won it from one of the games.
no subject
[His eyebrows go back to normal as he holds the fox at eye-level, studying it. Might be fun to accessorize a little.]
Not bad for a festival prize. You don't wanna keep it? He's real cute.
