The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[A little Lance is running around the Far Shore and having the time of his life despite the fact that he has no idea where he is or who anyone is.

Late July 17

[It's probably no surprise that Lance is ... starting to get homesick, though. And late on the 17th, before everything changes back, he can be found sitting on the ground somewhere, sniffling softly to himself, and wiping at wet eyes with a muddy hand, further muddying an already very dirty face.]

[ of course, some random PLEBEIAN clearly just ran into mei while he was stretching and getting ready to go swing his bat!!! he barely has enough time to dodge, and ends up bouncing into lance, snapping-- ] Hey, watch where you're going, stupid!

[ --because a mei at eleven is somehow even more full of attitude than a mei at seventeen. ] Some of us are busy here!

[Well Lance is eight and doesn't CARE about your OLDER KID NONSENSE. He comes to a stop a few feet away and sticks out his tongue at Mei before laughing.]

Busy doing what?? Being in the wayyyyyy~?

[...he's... apparently teasing Mei. Okay.]

mei folds both of his arms and huffs, sticking his nose right up in the air. ] For your information, I'm training. It's something a little kid like you'd never understand.

[Honestly, when he's rocketed into like that during an outing, the last thing he expects, probably, is a super tiny version of his god bolting around like some kind of energetic puppy. But, uh,]

Careful!

[That's exactly what he sees after he yells out the warning.]

[Lance was more than happy to keep nyooming around when he suddenly hears his name and screeches to a halt, whipping around to stare at Keith with wide eyes.]

...who're you?!

16th!

[Real nice Lance, barreling into a six year old like that! Poor Aymeric had no idea as he went somersaulting in the process.]

[But it's not the child he should worry about; it's the fluffy cat that's with him. He's also growling with his ears back. Rude, human!]

[Welllllll, he did say sorry, but that doesn't seem like enough with this one. Lance slows to a stop, looking back at Aymeric with wide eyes.]

...hey, you okay?

[And then he jogs back over. He's used to looking after someone younger than him, after all.]

[Well, he looks ok. Just a couple scrapes on his hands but he's not crying.]

'M okay. I was just surprised.

[There's no avoiding it with this kid- he's immediately collided into, and goes sprawling against the ground. Instead of getting up to his feet, however, he starts to curl up a little, and.... yep, he's crying a little, too.]

[Lance can't know that it's not his fault.]

[holy moly!! Lance would never have expected a reaction like that to being bumped into!!

And he's instantly worried and runs over to kneel down next to Chikusa.]

O-oh no, oh no, oh no! Did you get hurt?? I'm sorry!! Please, please, please don't tell!! I didn't mean to!!

[A child who is obviously used to getting into trouble because of these sorts of things, oops.]

[Being immediately fussed over is a bewildering experience, and he stops long enough to just stare with wide eyes at Lance before he scrubs at his face.]

Huh...? Tell who?

[ WHAM. Hey Lance, you should probably look where you're going, because you've managed to bowl over not only a very unstable looking goblin, but a girl attached to it.

Well, attached now. She was trying to help it learn how to walk before you came around and hecked it all up. Oww, her knees...

H-hey?! Where do you think you're going?! ]

Th-that wasn't very nice!

[ Yes, Lux, that is definitely a come back. He's probably real sorry now. Maybe he'll actually hear her shouting at him probably not. ]

[Several feet away, Lance spins around to grin at her. Awww, she's cute! His grin just gets wider as he sticks out his tongue.]

For a moment, it seems like she might let that go, two little fists clenching at her sides as she looks like she may cry at at any time—

Late July 17

[Well, it had been more or less another bust day for Naoto in regards to gathering information. Instead, her attention had been pulled in too many different directions, as she worked to try and help with the abundance of lost little kids. As she's heading home for the night, she spots one more sitting on the ground by himself. As tired as she is, her heart goes out to the little boy, who she can tell is sniffling softly even as far away as she is, and she approaches to see if she can help.]

Excuse me. Is everything alright?

[She crouches down to be closer to his eye level. Her knees and legs were definitely tired from doing this all day, so she may not hold this pose for long before she promptly takes a seat on the ground next to the boy.]

Would you like some company?

[...!!! The moment Lance realizes he's been caught, he tries to suck up the rest of his tears.

Which just results in tiny little sobs between gulps of air. Oops.]

I... I... i-it's okay, you d-don't have to...

[Though ... he can't say he wouldn't like the company, but!! He doesn't want her to think he's weak or anything!]

It's perfectly alright. I don't mind in the slightest.

[Naoto smiles at the boy, warm and comforting. She retrieves a handkerchief from the breast pocket of her jacket and offers it to the boy.]

[Zoro was tired, he'd been wandering all day, and he almost ignores the sniffling but then remembers there's kids that are back to being regular kids here.

So he walks up to him, arms crossed in front of his chest.]

Hey kid, why are you crying?

[Lance wipes furiously at his eyes, shaking his head and holding up his other hand to hide his face.]

I'm not!! I'm not crying!! Y-you're lying!!

You're totally crying dude.

[He sighs, and scratches his head.]

What's wrong?

July 17 - Age 4

[Kairi only barely manages to get out of the way, but rather than being mad she just shouts right back.]

HEY! WAIT UP!!

[Because she totally wants to go wherever he's going! She's smiling and laughing.]

[The black clad woman takes a good hit as he barrels into her, but she manages to stay on her feet. All these kids running around today are exhausting, but at least they've been cute enough to keep her patience.

She waves her hand to dismiss his apology before typing up a reply on her phone for him to read.]

[ On his way home to Epona's, Butch notices the sniffling about the same time as the small horse that's been stalking him all day notices it, but the horse is a little ahead of Butch and stops in front of the child first, nose sniffing at his hair. Butch looks down with worry at the child, one hand on the horse's withers. ]
