The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[ Yona... might have slipped into the library to hide for a little while. Being in her temple right now was a little on the problematic side and everywhere she turned everything seemed even more chaotic.

So here she was, hoping that maybe she might find some answers but not really expecting to.

Hearing the sudden yelp from nearby, however, she drops the books she'd been browsing and darts around the shelf to spot the girl standing there. And the.... was that one of the goblins? ]

Oh no! What happened to it now? [ She hurries forward, looking alarmed. Apparently not even the goblins were immune to whatever was happening here... ]

10000 YEARS LATER

[ She clutched the book to her chest and was stunned for a split second. But the sound of the other girl's voice snapped her right out of it, turning her wide-eyed stare to her. ]

One minute the goblin was just standing there, but then in the next--

[ Chise carefully knelt down in front of said goblin, shock ebbing and giving way to concern. ] I... I don't think it's breathing...

Truly?

[ Eyes widen further as she comes to crouch beside the fallen goblin. While she might not particularly like the annoying little creatures, that didn't mean she wanted to see them come to harm, either.

She reaches out, hand hovering over its face but the girl beside her is right, it no longer seems to be breathing. ]

Poor thing. It didn't deserve this. I'll have to find out who we should let know. And perhaps check on the others to see if they're in as bad a shape.

[ She glances over at the unfamiliar girl then, reaching out and laying a hand on her arm. ]

Are you alright?

[ Chise studied the exceedingly old and well past its time goblin for a moment. her grip on the book tightened slightly, still a little shocked by what she saw. ]

That's a good idea. I'll help.

[ The gentle touch on her arm was enough to look away. Chise focused now on the other girl and offered a small, reassuring smile. ] I'm alright. A little startled, that's all.

Understandably. [ Yona offers her a warm smile. ] I appreciate the help. Let's go see if we can find any of the others. Or find someone who knows what to do about this one.

[ Who was even in charge here? She wasn't entirely certain.

Pushing to her feet, she motions for the girl to follow her, intending to go find out. ]

My name is Yona, by the way.
