The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[ And here she was about to come over and see if Hibiki had been affected by this age thing as much as anyone had -- well, anyone but her. She's her normal age... and very perplexed at the sight of a child running right at her.

Or rather, right into her. ]

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

[ There's a scream right back as she finds herself right into the path of the child, nearly losing her balance as they collide right into each other. The impact causes her to stumble backward but she tries to keep the girl she's now holding onto from hitting the pavement. ]

Are... are you alright?

[kurukuruchan]

LET GO!!

[ The kid screams, terrified, and starts squirming in Kuroyukihime's grip. If she stops - if - if she stops -

Her wide eyes are full of terror. They are also an incredibly striking shade of green. ]

It's...it's coming!!

[ A monster looms in the distance. Made entirely of fruit. ]

What... what's com--

[ And then she sees it. ]

Let's go.

[ With that, she lets the child down and takes her hand, pulling her along with her to run. Maybe they can outrun it and if needed, Hibiki can name her temporarily to deal with it. But there's a matter of the child with her. ]

Where did that thing come from? Why is it chasing you?

[kurukuruchan]

S-sent--

[ The little girl is shaking so badly she can barely speak, but she still tries to wrest her hand from Kuroyukihime's grip. Everyone's scary! Everyone's a liar! And that includes you! ] Sentence--

[ The monster opens its mouth and yells. It has also obtained a giant tricycle from somewhere and is merrily pedaling along behind them.

"MISS ROLLY ROLLS! WATERMELON YOU DOING? DON'T RUN AWAY LIKE A JACKFRUITRABBIT, I'M PLUMMING PLANNING TO BECOME YOUR FRIENDURIAN!" ]

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

[ What the hell is even going on here

But she keeps her grip on the girl, leading her away from this.... thing. And why is it speaking in fruit puns?! ]

Sent? Did... did someone send this thing after you? Where's Hibiki?

[kurukuruchan]

[ The little girl continues to struggle, trying to get away from the scary person who won't leave her alone. ] Sent--

[ A gasp for breath and she can get the whole phrase out. ] Sentence enders.....

[ In her flailing, something drops out of her pocket. It's a school ID for Persailles Private Kindergarten, in a fancy leather sleeve.

Clearly visible, right next to a picture of this little girl in happier times, is the name "Hibiki Shikyoin". ]

[ What... what is this madness...

But she does notice the ID, finally releasing the child in order to pick it up. It only takes a moment's glance for her to put two and two together. ]

...Hibiki?

[ ...well that answers her question about things being weird. ]

[ Silver hair, check. Green eyes, check. Ps where there shouldn't be Ps, check.

Dramatic streak...

"AREN'T YUZU INTERESTED IN FRIENDSHIPEACHES, MISS ROLLY ROLLS? I'M MIKAN A REAL EFFORT AND ENJOYING THIS GRAPE GAME OF TAGUAVA--" ]

UWAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

[ ...check and mate.

Hibiki will take advantage of her captor's distraction to try and break free, the better to keep making a run for it. She has to get away!! ]

A LINE!

[ She's not sure how effective a borderline will be against... whatever this is but she can certainly try. The shimmering barrier comes up in front of her which she glances at a moment to make sure it's stable before turning.

But alas, the child has escaped her. ]

Hibiki wait!

[kurukuruchan]

[ The fruit monster bursts into pieces against the borderline - "WHAT THE MELON?!" - and vanishes as soon as it dissipates, some unconscious part of the mind that generated it knowing borderlines are supposed to keep things out.

The conscious parts of that mind, however, are out of said mind with terror. And have now decided to hide their body behind this tree.

Except there's a tuft of ruffled skirt sticking out, and whimpery noises. I-is it gone?? Is it...all gone....? She doesn't want to look. She's scared to look. ]

[ She lets out a deep breath. These borderlines are unpredictable but at least it worked.

ID in hand, she decides to head into the direction the girl had run off to before crouching down to offer her the ID she dropped. ]

Hibiki? It's gone now. You're safe.
