The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

a. She's too sober for this - Morning

[ Yuuko Ichihara was not made for heavy lifting. She's a mage, dammit. A magic user. One of the most powerful from her world - not that she remembers. She's meant to deal with metaphysical matters. Not... chase after kids.

Which is what she's been doing the whole morning. Somehow, a death godlet got it into his head to steal her god and Jade -- who knows where Jade wandered off too? It's Jade. He does his own thing. But still.

But she'll try to be sociable, at least. No sense in letting out her frustrations on the first random passer-by that crosses her path. But she does approach the first random passer by that crosses her path anyway. ]

Excuse me.

[ All pleasantries. ]

I don't suppose you've seen a blond kid, yea high [ Motioning to about the age of a nine year old. ], cowlick, messy hair, glasses bigger than his face running off with another boy in his arms?

[ If you did, they probably made a huge ruckus while running past. Definitely hard to miss. ]

Lavi takes a step back when Yuuko approaches him, confusion evident.]

Never seen anyone like that.

That's a shame... I could have sworn I saw them run in this direction.

[ Glancing into the crowd though. That ahoge is definitely going to be easy to spot even if he happens to be a kid. Though she does turn her attention back to Lavi, a brow raised ever so slowly. ]

You seem like you're on your guard for some reason.

Did he speak with a funny accent?

[If so, then yeah, he's probably seen the kid in question. He heard more of the accent than actually seeing him.

He frowns a bit.]

If by your definition of funny is using words normally not found in Japanese vocabulary and dropping his h's on occasion, then yes.

[ Somehow it doesn't surprise her that the baronling would have been more heard than seen. He's always been that way after all, even as an adult. But hey she can take some time off her god search to deal with this kid. Besides, if her god was in trouble, he could always call her. ]

But I don't suppose you have memories of arriving here either?

Then I saw him.

[A wary look at the question but he nods.]

I just woke up in a library surrounded by goblins.

I don't suppose he'd gotten very far...

[ But yes good progress. Someone who's seen the little punk. But something strikes her. ]

Goblins, you say? I don't suppose they were affected by whatever this is, were they?

[ Well, she's certainly found someone close to the right age range- though a little younger. Also in worse shape, given the neck brace, arm cast and tight sling to keep his shoulder from moving about too much. Still, not blond. ]

Uh...

[ He'll actually consider for a moment, trying to think if he had. Unfortunately, he couldn't just shake his head. ]

Not really. Did you try the school?

[ ....still not blond but jfc he looks like he's seen some action and not in the good wa. ]

No... I doubt that's anywhere the Baron would be keen on taking my god. He'd just suddenly gotten it into his head to cart him away to who knows where.

[ A sigh. ]

Dare I ask how you managed to get yourself that injured...?

[The helmeted woman who Yuuko stopped seems a bit harried herself, likely also having been chasing after kids all morning.

More curious is the presence of that helmet. A bit of an odd style choice. And if Yuuko's senses and knowledge are up to it she might be aware that this woman's clothes are literally made of some sort of dark magic. That and the fact that there's something missing beneath the helmet.

But as it is, Celty shakes a 'no' in response to the question about the child.]

[ This one.. now this one's certainly different. It's half the reason she approached, after all. Call it a measure of curiosity directed toward the not-so-mundane.

But the shake of that helmet earns a small hum of thought. ]

I thought I'd ask. He seemed to be heading in this direction.

[ And the smallest smile. ]

You seem unchanged, however.

[The helmet bobs in a nod, but then it turns to tilt softly to the side. She thinks a moment and then slips her phone out to type into it.]

Maybe. Come to think of it I'm not sure if I'd be able to notice if I was.

But sorry no. I've been seeing a lot of kids, but not one like you described. I'll keep a look out though.
