The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

1. (7/16, 7/17) Is there a babysitter in the house???

( Sakura isn't sure of what to do with all of these children running around. Suddenly the heavens have become a wild daycare with just barely enough adult supervision to do anything. One would think a girl as meek and easily distraught as Sakura would crumble right now… but she seems fine, albeit a bit flustered as she chases after children, keeping them from sticking their fingers in places where they shouldn't be and keeping them from climbing trees of questionable stability.

So, let's say she's found you getting into trouble or just minding your own business off to the side. She's quick to swoop in and make sure everything is okay, asking calmly, )

What are you doing?

( She sounds genuinely interested in whatever it you're doing and if you're doing something particularly troublesome, she's making a point to not sound upset. )

2. (7/16, 7/17) Sweets before dinner

( All of this running around in the summer takes a toll on Sakura and when all of these small things start to wear themselves out, she takes a moment to refresh herself with some delicious ice cream mochi. She's just finished unwrapping the little box they've come in and is about to to help herself to one when she feels herself being watched. She stops and glances over, )

[ After a day of exploring, this travel-sized shinki is just about tuckered out. But oh, she should have been keeping track of where her church was, shouldn't she? It's starting to get dark out, and with that she's begun to get a little uneasy.

Truth be told, Lux isn't watching Sakura because of the treats she has, although those certainly do catch her eye. (What are those?) No, the real reason...

She hasn't seen many adults here, and maybe this one could help her get back before nighttime? ]

Ah?

[ She isn't normally the shy type, but being offered something out of the blue like that, Lux shuffles her feet a bit. ]

...What is that?

Ice cream mochi.

( She turns the tray some for her to see. It doesn't look like much. There's one chocolate, one strawbery,
one vanilla, and one matcha. )

[ OH NO SHE'S BEEN FOUND

Hibiki scrabbles back against the side of this piece of playground equipment, eyes wide, face ashen. She curls into a ball and wibbles.

Somebody found her! That means - that means the scary stuff could too!! ]

O-oh! ( Sakura can't help but feel sympathetic. She kneels down to be her height and speaks softly, gently. ) I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you.

I just... I just wanted to make sure you were okay since you were alone.

Liar.

[ Nobody actually cares. They just pretend to. Hibiki hugs herself. The only person who loves Hibiki is Hibiki. ]

( How harsh! She frowns to herself and gives her a concerned look, )

[ Promised to be friends! Then left! Then came back like they'd never revealed who they really were! ]

7/17; evening time

[Naoto was slowly making her way back to Izanagi's shrine. The past two days had taken a lot out of her, and she was definitely feeling the exhaustion right now. As she walks, she looks up and spots Sakura sitting by herself. It'd been a while since Naoto had last seen her, the night of the Tanabata festival and their arrival in fact. Just as she's wondering if she should perhaps say hello, Sakura looks up and catches her eye. Naoto smiles at the offer, though she looks a bit embarrassed to be caught staring.]

Good evening, Sakura-san.

That is very kind of you to offer, thank you.

[Ah, she should probably make it clear who she is, since she's discovered she needs to do so plenty of times the past two days.]

Ah, it's me, Naoto. Naoto Shirogane.

( She's surprised! Sakura doesn't think she recognizes this girl (though, she looks vaguely familiar for some reason...). And yet, this girl knows her name and seems to know her too? She isn't sure how to react and when Naoto explains who she is-- )

N-Naoto-kun?!

( -KUN! -KUN!!!! )

[Naoto chuckles awkwardly, trying to smile through her embarrassment.]

Y- yes. I, um... was affected by whatever it was that happened. Only it seems I was aged... up... instead of down.

( Naoto's embarrassment?! They can all just be embarrassed all around. Sakura can't believe it. She'd really thought Naoto was a boy. )

I thought you w-were a--! ( Oh no, this is awkward. ) F-forgive me...!

2, on 7/17

[That looks delicious, and tiny six year old Forrest has never seen anything like it before. He didn't mean to stare, but he's curious about what Sakura's eating.]

...Oh! Mm... mm-hmm.

( It's hard to not recognize Forrest, even as a child and Sakura smiles warmly, sliding the tray over for him to choose from. There are for flavors: Strawberry, chocolate, green tea, and vanilla. )

July 17 - Age 4

[ Kairi is a girl on a mission and comes up to Sakura's temple with her hands behind her back before standing in front of Sakura, tilting her head in curiosity. ]

Yep! Hair like mine! You must be Lady Sakura.

[ She met Leo. ]

( she was ready to help but she wasn't expecting them to find the thing so soon? She covers her mouth,
a little surprised by what she's looking for, )

Y-yes, I am.

[ Oh. Hmm. She looks confused. ]

He said he was coming. I don't remember why. But... you have hair like mine - red and short.

[She puts both hands on her head for emphasis.]

[Riku has climbed up one of the trees, eager to see the world from a higher angle. He wouldn't call that getting into trouble… even if maybe a grown-up would think otherwise. Though this one doesn't seem so bad… at least she doesn't seem to be scolding him right away.]

( Sakura is the last person who would go around pretending she knew everyone but that sure does look like a tiny Riku. )

Of course not. This is a different world, right? The world outside the one that I come from. So, I'm exploring it.

[He climbs to stand on the branch he was sitting on, eyes drifting towards the horizon of the far shore.]

The world I come from is really tiny; this place is way more exciting.

( It's cool. It's not like Sakura considers herself to be very impressive on her own. )

This world...? Do you mean like...a realm? ( While she speaks, she can't help but move a little closer to the tree, stopping under it in case Riku falls. She has noodles for arms but it has to be better than nothing at all. ) W-what was your world like? Compared to this one, that is.
