The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

A lone green eye focuses on the wounded knee before he looks around for anything.]

[He takes off the headband he wore around his neck and tears it, crouching down beside Sora.]

Can I see it?

[The tears don't stop and the wailing doesn't stop. He flinches a little when the other crouches down.]

W-what are you gonna do?

I'm going to use my headband as a bandaid to wrap it up.

[Tilting his head to the side, he eyes Sora.]

Is that okay?

[little_key]

Ummm...

[He sniffles and winces again.]

As long as it doesn't hurt...

[He's watching you!!!!!!!!!!!!]

It'll hurt if I have to use something to clean it before it gets infected.

[He doesn't know where this sort of first aid knowledge comes from, but fortunately, the scrape on his knee isn't that bad.

So he carefully wraps his headband around his knee in a makeshift bandage.]

Infected?

[He doesn't know what that word means (he's 4) but it sounds really terrible and awful and he starts sniffling again.

As the wrapping starts Sora starts crying once more, tears spilling down his cheeks.]

It hurts!!

[He pauses, a bit hesitant.

What do adults do to help kids get better? Lavi gently blows on the scrape, giving Sora a tiny, reassuring smile.]

It's okay. By the time I'm done, we can go play some more games.

[little_key]

[That actually does help a bit and Sora sniffles slow again.]

But you're supposed to kiss it better?

[ripplesoflosttime]

[He's familiar with the blowing, but not kissing.

But if it helps Sora, he presses a gentle kiss against the scrape, pulling back to finish wrapping it up.]

Better?

[little_key]

[Sora hiccups softly and nods.]

Thanks...

[It seems that did comfort Sora. His eyes are still watering and he's still quivering, though.]

We can really go play games now?

[He offers Sora a hand as he gets up to his feet again.

He nods.]

We can play now.

[little_key]

[Sora immediately takes that hand and stands up too but doesn't let go. Hand holding is now happening.]

Do you wanna play a game with me, then?? Do you like tag?

[Wow, it's like he never even scrapped his knee.]

[What is with all of you people and hand holding?

Lavi prides himself on not pulling away. At least Sora bounced back back from that.]

Tag?

[little_key]

[It's a little kid thing.]

Yeah! You know! Tag!

[Everybody knows how to play tag!]

[A blink before he nods.]

Okay, let's play tag.

[little_key]

[Without explaining, Sora grins and taps Lavi's shoulder and then starts running again.]

Okay! Tag! You're it!!

[ripplesoflosttime]

[A blink of surprise before he runs after Sora.]

[little_key]

[Sora bursts out laughing as he's chased, not daring to look behind him for a second.]

You can't catch me!!

[ripplesoflosttime]

You can't run forever!

[Lavi runs harder, at least enough to be within reach of Sora and taps him on the back.]

Tag.

[little_key]

[He can and will run forever! And ever and ever and ever and ever and--

oh.]

Oh noo!!

[He tries to turn quick and starts for Lavi too.]

[ripplesoflosttime]

[Yeah, nope!

Lavi is definitely running away now!]

[little_key]

[Sora runs as fast as his little four year old legs can take him. But it seems Lavi is quite a bit faster.

Not that that bothers Sora. He keeps chasing and laughing.]

[Well, he might be fair enough to slow down a bit for Sora to catch up to him.

Or not.

But he's still definitely going to keep running.]

[There's no was Sora's stubby legs will be able to catch him.

But that's okay he doesn't seem to care. Still laughing and giggling with glee.]

You're fast!!

[Lavi looks over his shoulder, laughing softly.]

You have to be able to run faster if you want to catch me.
