The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[ Yona has escaped from the watchful eyes of her babysitters shinki to wander out and explore, but the voice coming from nearby gives her pause as she turns and eyes the boy who's not much older than her. ]

Haku...? Is that where you live?

Yes. I...

[And he isn't quite sure what happens next.

[Two things stand out. Firstly, whatever it it is, it hurts.

[The second thing - there even before his head clears, long before he can stop clutching at his arm and stumble back to his feet, is much, much more important: THIS GIRL IS THE MOST AMAZING PERSON IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. This is true. It is a fact. And suddenly finding his way home just doesn't seem like something he should be doing any more.

[If she isn't going back to Hakuryuu village then he isn't either, the end.]

Who are you?

[Ow. Talking is hard.]

[ When he collapses in front of her, she gives a cry of distress, hurrying close to where he kneels, reaching out to hover worrying hands over him, trying to see how he hurt himself. ]

Are you okay? What happened? Are you sick?

[justclaws]

No - no, I am all right.

[THAT WAS TOTALLY TRUE.

[Kija pushes himself back to his knees, rubbing at his arm - that should help, shouldn't it? She really isn't supposed to be worrying about him, but the fact she is only makes it all the more obvious that she is The Most Amazing Person In The Universe.]

You mustn't worry.

[Look, I'm standing up, this is absolutely fine, please ignore that I am still rubbing my arm.]

But you hurt your arm! Did you fall on it?

[ It already looks fairly strange for an arm, like nothing she's ever seen before. She leans forward to peer at it in confusion. ]

Maybe you got stung by a really big bee? [ She'd seen someone swell up all poofy from that once... ]

[justclaws]

There are bees?

[Kija does Not Like bees. He glances about them both, quick and nervous.

[Of course the only thing worse than him getting stung by a bee would be if it happens to her. Quick, think of something-- there is a stick on the floor, and he stoops to pick it up. There. It's... ugh, bees, it's better than nothing.]

I think we should stand very still.

[darkestbefore]

But you're moving.

[ She points this out curiously, with very solemn logic, as she watches him scoop up the stick.

Then she starts looking around for one, too. ]

I want to help!

[justclaws]

But... what if you get stung?

[Oh... I'll probably have to kill myself or something. To make up for it.]

[darkestbefore]

[ Finding a stick, she hefts it up and swings it wildly for a moment before glancing over at him with a bright grin. ]

We just have to whap any before they get that close, right?

[justclaws]

I... yes! That's right!

[Simple. Yes, bees are really small and move really fast and they're horrible but - no, he can do this. Just watch.]

Um. I'm-- [Kija.] Lord Hakuryuu. May I ask who you are?

[And please don't think I'm trying to sound like I'm better than you or anything because I am absolutely not, you're the most important person in the universe and I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT.]

[ She has no idea.

But she peers at him with a mixture of awe and amazement. ]

Lord? Are you? Whoa. I'm Yona!

[ Because what are titles at the moment. She's just Yona. Besides, if she lets people know she's the Princess-Goddess, they might take awake her stick-sword. ]

[justclaws]

[Names, we're going with names.

[Suddenly it seems really really important to go by his name and never mind that nobody uses it. Kija doesn't want to be Lord Anything if The Most Important Person In The Universe hasn't got something far more impressive to counter with. She shoulddefinitely have something far more impressive to counter with.]

Oh, but you don't have to call me that! Please, call me Kija.

[darkestbefore]

[ Impressive doesn't really matter to Yona at the moment. If she's just 'Yona' and not 'Princess', no one will think anything of her being here, fighting off bees with a stick. ]

Kija? Okay, I will call you Kija! Should I help you find the place you were looking for? Are you lost?

[justclaws]

Um...

[Kija looks around himself again. No, no more like home than it was before. It's just... well, if they find Hakuryuu village then he'll have to go home and he's not supposed to be doing that. Most Important Person in the Universe, remember? He knows, far more clearly than he knows anything else, that home is where she is.

[Maybe he should just stay out here.]

No! I'm not lost! I don't have to go home yet.

[Well... it's still day time. So it's not like he's lying.]

But you were looking for somewhere, weren't you? Should I help you find it? Although I'm not very good at finding things yet...

[ She looks stumped a moment as she tries to figure out how to help. ]

Where did you last see it? [ that seems like a good place to start, right? Is that how this works? ]

[justclaws]

Um...

[Kija is sure he should be helping her, not the other way around. Is there really nothing he should be doing for her?

[Well... there is watching for bees. STAY AWAY, BEES.]

Do you know how you got here? I think I forgot.

[ Ut's not really bragging, especially when she sound so very awed by it herself. ]
