Yeah, I rememeber that now! When I first met you, you were tall!

[He thought maybe he was just crazy when he saw Yukine short.]

I know you're older then me Yukine but I don't think you're an adult, right? You'll evenually get tall again, huh?

[Knowledge that shinki don't age is still something Goten isn't familiar with. He wants to get bigger to. After all, he's young so something like this is pretty exciting. Powers being as crazy as they are aside.]

No luck finding more of that fruit either, huh?

Right… [Heh- he’d gotten so caught up in wanting to show off again, he’d forgotten Goten had seen for himself.]

Uh-- [He’s… never thought much about that, really. He’s dead so… maybe he won’t change, will he? Yukine’s expression becomes distant for a long moment as some sort of heavy feeling passes through him.

The last question brings his attention back to the conversation, but it takes him a moment to shake off that feeling.]

Um, yah. Apparently it was random anyway, and the guy who sold it to me said that since one of his shinki disappeared, he’s had trouble growing that fruit so… No luck getting tall that way, nope.

[Goten blinks when Yukine goes quiet for a second, the look is hard to miss to. Did he say something wrong? But the older shinki is quick to bounce back so Goten doesn't linger on it]

I guess no. But I know how you can be tall, Yukine! Well, kinda...it doesn't really change your height but..

[There's a grin that tugs on the corner of Goten's mouth before he reaches out carefully, trying to pick up Yukine under the arms. It's an effortless feat for the demi saiyan but its more about how Yukine will react]

[The gesture is so unexpected that Yukine is already being lifted up by the time he registers what Goten meant. And the fact that Goten is actually just a kid flies completely out of his mind for a moment.]

Wha- what the hell? I’m not a kid and this doesn’t make me any taller! Put me down!

[The reaction: angry with a healthy dollop of embarrassment.]

I know you're not a kid, Yukine!

[He grins at him despite it all. Yukine is probably just surprised---and Goten might be floating off the ground now, with Yukine]

How about this? It's sorta taller.

[Look they're over the buildings now! ]

Oi! ‘Sorta’, if you’re a giant! This is just flying, now! Geehh- my arms hurt, ok? Put me down! [Before anyone else sees this.]

Alright, Alight.

[Kill his fun.]

I could carry you a different way if you wanted or get Nimbus to come here.

[But Goten listens and floats back down to the ground, placing him down gently. See, no harm!]

[Yukine: best kill-joy.]

[He’s mostly just happy to be let down and is intent on keeping Goten away from the possibility of ‘carrying him a different way’, so he kind of jumps on trying to change the topic.]

Nimbus? Did you find another person who can fly? [Because 'Nimbus' is a legit possible name for a new shinki. (He will not allow himself to be carried between two people though, for the record.)]

Huh? I thought I introduced you to Nimbus already, Yukine...

[Alot of people have met Nimbus, he's just surprise Yukine wasn't one of the firest considering how much he likes to be around the older shinki when he's not busy. Still Goten smiles, rubbing the back of his neck.]

Now's a good a time as any, right?

I... suppose so?

[You know, besides the chaos of people changing ages or whatever?]

I got time, anyway.

[Chaos or not, it's just the two of them here so it's as good a time as any. At least that's how Goten sees it. At least he didn't get younger okay.

He grins a bit at that though]

Good! I like hanging out with you, Yukine!

[With that, he looks towards the sky. Lifting his hand up, he cups them near his mouth as he takes a breath before calling out to the sky:]

Hey Nimbus! Come on down!

[It takes a couple of seconds. For awhile there's nothing but soon enough there's a bright yellow cloud streaking across the sky before swooping down near them. It loops around them once before literally screeching to a halt in front of Goten.]

This is Nimbus.

[Goten smiles, patting the fluff of a cloud.]

[Goten's shout makes Yukine jump a little- he was expecting the boy to make a phone call, not shout at the sky.
And then cloud. Not a person, or even person-ish thing. It's a cloud. That's yellow. And pat-able. ???]

...

Damn, okay, just when you think you've seen it all...

[He really wants to ask what this is, but the answer is clearly 'a cloud' or 'Nimbus'. He bets anything Goten would answer like that. Which would not help.]

So.

Uh. [Give him a sec. He'll think of something smart to say yet.]

This is the 'different way to fly'?

[Nailed it? Better than saying 'uh' again, anyway.]

[Goten's smile just grows as he looks from the cloud to Yukine. Idly he's still patting it.]

Ahuh. Nimbus has been with me for awhile now. Back when I got my first god, before he disappeared, it sorta was there in my room.

[With his last two gods disappearing at least the cloud had stuck with him but he would rather not go through that against especially given how close he's gotten with Aymeric.]

So, wanna try?

[Grinnnnnn~! Goten still doesn't know the requirements himself. He knows Kairi, him and a handful of others can sit on the cloud but there have been some that have fallen right through it. Of course, he's not going to mention that. It's better to test it out.]

[You're secretly really mean, Goten. ;;]

[Oh. So this is one of those things that just 'showed up' for the new gods and shinki?
Weird. Weird weird weird he can't say it enough.

But ok. Flying. On a cloud?]

Heh... Well, it seems crazy, but flying sounds pretty cool.

But, how do you use it? I mean, usually clouds aren't solid, so it's not like you can ride it... can you? [A suspicious look at Goten's hand patting the cloud.]

[He's ~~seven~~ seventeen. He's just a bit mischievous. Plus, he figures Yukine will be less likely to try it if he does say there's a chance it'll drop him.]

Acutally, that's it exactly. Nimbus, I guess, is pretty different because of that. It doesn't look or feel that soild but...

[Goten moves his hand as he takes a step back and jumps up. He lands on Nimbus easily, as if it was just a solid as any platform.]

See?

[He even bounces a few times, the cloud clearly doesn't mind or at least, doesn't show any signs of it. He smiles down at Yukine, leaning a bit as he holds his hand out to him. Wanna go on a magic Nimbus ride?]

C'mon Yukine.

[He watches, all right. "It doesn't feel that solid"?...
Well, if it holds teen-Goten, it'll probably hold him. Unless the kid is playing a trick on him because he can fly. But ... it looks legit? For a magic cloud, anyway.]

...

I guess I'll give it a shot.

[He reaches out to take Goten's offered hand and is ready to ~~pull Goten down with him~~ use it as support if he goes right through the thing anyway.

With one foot he tries to step on the cloud, and happily his foot stops somewhere inside it. His eyes widen with wonder.]

Oh...?

[Goten grips his hand gently as Yukine steps onto the cloud. He gives him a second to sort of test it out with one foot before helping hoist him up the rest of the way. It doesn't look like Yukine is going to fall through...which is great!
Slowly, Goten lets go of his hand.]

See? You did it! You didn't fall through it after all!

[Goten may or may not have had his doubts, okay?]

Looks like Nimbus likes you. Though I'm not sure if you wanna stand or sit when we go flying...I promise to catch you if you fall off too!

[See how reassuring he is? He just smiles before stepping off of Nimbus, floating next to it effortlessly.]

[Purified the hard way, that’s him.]

“After all”? Hey- you mean there was a chance I would have fallen through? [He shoots Goten a bit of a glare- but it’s done now and he had offered his hand, so… whatever. It’s fine. It’s not like he’s sure about the whole ‘Nimbus likes you’ as a criteria anyway.

And Goten promises to catch him if he falls off… hahaha…]

What kind of ride is this goin‘t be if you have to promise something like that? But thanks.

[Yukine kneels down into the cloud, then tries sitting. This- this is actually pretty cool.]

If it feels like a skateboard I can probably manage standing, but I’ll sit for now.

[CAUGHT.

Goten just laughs, waving his hand dismissively. Oh Yukine, you worry too much. Look! You're standing on Nimbus so everything is fine. Goten would never really let you get hurt.]

I donno. I sometimes go upside down and stuff.

[Not that he expects to do that with Yukine riding for the first time. He smiles at Yukine as he reaches out to pat the cloud[

Sounds good. Ready?

[Goten floats higher, waving for Nimbus to follow. It does, following after the shinki as they raise higher and higher into the air.]

I can out fly Nimbus speed wise but I'll keep beside you until you get use to it. 'Kay?

[See Yukine? Goten is a good friend so enjoy yourself! One more grin and he takes off, Nimbus is quick to follow after. It's nothing too fast, maybe about the speed of a motorcycle. They're high over the trees, a good bird's eye view of the land.]

[(It's a little strange seeing the gestures of a small child made by this tall teenager.)

His eyes go round at the 'upside-down' bit, but he nods determinedly.
And if nothing else, Goten has already proved that he can fly while holding Yukine, so he feels about as safe as this crazy is gonna get.

At motorcycle speed and above-tree height, Yukine holds on tight to a couple bulges of yellow cloud. It's squishy, but surprisingly sturdy for a cloud...

And then he really looks around him, his face lighting up as he laughs freely.]

Hahaha! Wow, this is amazing!

[Seeing Yukine's face brighten and hearing the laugh makes Goten's own smile grow that much more. What's better then flying?

Sharing the experience with someone else!

Yukine has done a lot for him, or at least Goten thinks so. He's a great teacher and everything. So Goten is happy he can let him ride Nimbus since that was better then Goten carrying him apparently.]

It's fun, huh? I thought you'd like it, Yukine!

[ It's practically the perfect day for it too.]

I really do! This is great!

[Questions like 'why do you have this when you can fly' and 'how come some people fall through' might come back when they return to earth, but for now Yukine's having way too much fun.

Slowly he stands up, checking his balance. Whatever this cloud is, it seems to at least be holding him well. His feet feel surprisingly stable. Shifting his posture like he's riding a skateboard, he smiles even more.]

Let's go faster!
