Tendou
What's "work"?
no subject
[ It's a bit strange that a girl this age wouldn't know what that word means, but Tendou is nothing if not patient with children, so he explains himself as concisely as he can.
But not knowing what work means would explain a lot about Hibiki. ]
no subject
[ Like, all of it. It does not match with the world she knows.
Well, Father "works", she guesses. She will confirm that she understands. ]
Is going on trips with people from your company "work"?
no subject
[ Business trips are work, right? And not excuses for sordid affairs? Well, even if they were, there's no reason to tell a young girl about those.
Not that Tendou has ever been with one company long enough to get sent on business trips. ]
It's often necessary to visit different places if you want to spread your influence. That much is true.

[ Kitchen, kitchen. She thinks she saw a kitchen...this way!
Apollo's temple sure is. Something. One might even say Apollo's temple is many somethings, all at once, all the time. It is Much. ]
no subject
The decor in this temple though. Definitely a bit much. Much more in line with the Hibiki he knows. ]
Is everything in this temple so... purple?
[ Just checking. ]
no subject
[ She looked. ]
Kitchen's through here.
[ This, at least, is a small blessing, Tendou:
the kitchen is equally huge and gorgeous. And boasts an embarrassingly thorough tea cabinet.
Of course. ]
no subject
[ Utterly overbearing in her attempts at brilliance, ending up sparkling like a disco ball when she could be shining like the sun instead. That said, at least she knows how to pay for ingredients.
Probably doesn't know how to cook though. Would a shinki of hers do it? Tendou wouldn't trust anyone else in his kitchen. ]
Do you like tea, Hibiki? We can start with that.
no subject
[ SHE LIKES TEA ]
With cookies?
[ for breakfast ]
no subject
[ Fresh, of course. Why would Tendou accept anything else? So instead he peeks into the fridge, looking at the ingredients Hibiki has on hand. Hopefully, somebody's done the groceries. ]
I could bake them regardless, but leave them as a snack for later, alright?
[ Hibiki will change back eventually, and it might be funny if she has a bag of Tendou's cookies sitting around. That, and why wouldn't he try to make a child happy? Important in equal measure.
But first, time to put the kettle on. ]
no subject
When Tendou turns around, Hibiki will have pulled herself up onto the counter to sit and watch. This is neat! ]

So eggs are cracked into bowls. Bread is tossed into the toaster. Sausages are dropped on a grill. It's breakfast, there's no need to be terribly fancy with it. In this case, simple is best. Simple is how you let good quality ingredients shine through.
Being the master chef Tendou is, it's not difficult for him to be dealing with every part of the dish seemingly at once, darting back and forth between stove and prep counter with grace and speed. And it doesn't take all that long before breakfast is served, a full English piled onto a plate and placed before Hibiki. ]
Eat up, while I start on the cookies.
no subject
[ All this food! And it smells so good. ]
Thanks, mister!
[ There. If this were home, she would be praised. Such a polite and thoughtful Young Mistress!
Everything looks so good that Hibiki doesn't know where to begin, but eventually she starts in on her eggs. ] Mmm....
[ What is this? She's never had food that sticks to her ribs before! Rich food, sure, heavy food, yeah, but not warm and fuzzy food like this. ]
It's really good!
no subject
[ He cooked it after all, and the ingredients were up to scratch too. How could his meal not be delicious after that? ]
Would you believe me if I said I seasoned this meal with the light of the sun? What better way to make sure you start your day full of energy?
[ The sun's light is the font of all life on Earth, after all. Even if they're not really proper living things any more. Is he joking though? It's nearly impossible to tell. ]
Take your time. Savour the food, and maybe when you're done there'll be cookies.
[ He's mixing the dough now! ]
no subject
She decides to try some of everything instead of finishing off one type of food first, since everything looks like it'll be tasty.
She's also never seen anybody make cookies before, since they've always just sort of Appeared, so she's watching Tendou with interest. ]
That doesn't look much like cookies.
no subject
[ Milk, eggs, flour, butter, sugar, and more, all put in after precise measurements, the mess of powder and gooey nonsense eventually turning into dough. Which eventually gets rolled out and cut into small circles with a cutter. It's a time-consuming process that demands the baker's full attention, if only because cookies, like all desserts, are so prone to going totally wrong if anything is our of proportion. ]
It's a good lesson for life in general too.
[ Really, is there a point in lecturing this small Hibiki? She's going to turn back eventually after all. Probably. None of this will have any impact in the long run.
But well, as long as a child is before him, how could Tendou say no? ]
no subject
[ Hibiki thinks about this, chewing her breakfast a bunch of times like she was told. ]
So you've gotta imagine the cookies you want.
[ That doesn't sound so bad. ]
no subject
[ Especially true in baking, where precision is key, but a good life lesson in general. ]
Only once you know what you want can you figure out how you're going to make it happen.
no subject
[ Should she be playing PriPara even more than she already does? Will that make her ticket come faster? ]
no subject
[ Tendou, unfortunately, doesn't know very much about arcade games from other universes, but it's a pretty universal theory. ]
no subject
[ Just like this breakfast, which she has now finished. Hibiki sets her plate aside, since it'd be a real shame if any of this nice china broke. ]
You're, like, a genius or something, mister!
no subject
[ Tendou smirks, knowing that even this child has recognised his talents brings him a measure of pride.
Plus, he's imagining the Hibiki he knew admitting that in the future. ]
When you're the sun, you have to stand above, and shine brighter than anyone else. Anything less, and you can't light the way for the world.
[ And now he's teaching her something weird. ]
no subject
[ That is so cool. She wants to be the sun, too. It sounds like the best thing to be.
Though, hey! The sun made her breakfast. That makes her the sun's friend! ]
no subject
[ So yes, he is in fact the sun. Although he was the sun before he took on the mantle of Helios, but there's no need to pull that particular spiel on a child. ]
But it's not just about the titles we're given. The sun is called that because it gives life, flowers bloom when it rises, and even dirt shines in its light. If you want to be the sun too, that's what you'll need to do.
[ Can there be two suns in the sky? Previously Tendou would have said no, but since he doesn't get a choice in who gets what divine position here, he'll just have to roll with it. ]
no subject
Oh, boy. She's gonna be the sun. She's gonna be a sun idol. ] Okay! That's easy!
[ And to show how easy it is, she, um
look out, tendou
the child is glittering ]
