I did, but they already had other names that I called them by more often.

Me too. I have another name, and it's Son. But I like Goku.

Well, where I'm from... [Sharak crouches down to trace out the name "Goku" in the sand. This is fine, it's totally not weird that she knows how the name is written. She's an educated woman.]

It would probably be like this. Taken literally, it means "aware of emptiness".

[She doesn't even know for sure who named Goku in the first place, much less what their intentions were. Her hand hovers thoughtfully over the second part of the name in the ground before folding her arms again.]

"Emptiness" can also mean... the things that exist in the world. The things that fill up empty spaces.
[She feels like Goku isn't all that interested in complicated religious philosophy though.] Maybe they wanted you to appreciate those.
