For Kairi

[ From here. ]

[ Yona can only smile at the girl's enthusiasm, giving her hand a gentle tug as she leads the way to the gate, pushing it open and leading the way inside. ]

You're very welcome, Kairi. You came just in time, too. Perhaps, after you've looked at the flowers, you'd like to help me visit the horses?

You have horses too? Wow...

[She has so many of the things straight out of Kairi's imagination, for a 4 year old shinki. She toddles along after Yona, though.]

Yes please! I'd love to see them! Thank you thank you!

Yes, they live here and graze in the orchards. If you're quiet and careful, they let you come up to them and touch them, or feed them an apple.

[ She can sympathize with Kairi's excitement. It was a thrill she still felt when she got to go visit the herd that lived outside her temple, and a mirror to how enthralled she'd always felt when visiting the stables as a child, even if she hadn't been allowed to ride them. ]

[ She puts her free hand over her mouth in an attempt to force herself quiet. ]

Okay.

[ She says muffled behind her hand. ]

... Where are the apples?

[ Still muffled. ]

[ Yona laughs as she leads the little girl through the courtyard, heading for the orchard that spreads just outside of it. ]

Right through here. If I hold you up, you can pick a few of the apples to bring to the horses. I'm sure you can find some really good ones, yes?

YEAH!!

[She claps and is very excited.]

I promise not to eat any! Then the horses can have all of them.

[Definitely need to save some for the horses.]
