Summary: A vent is open and the fireflies are beautiful.

There have been so many things happening lately that the Heavens (mostly Amaterasu) have decided that the Far Shore residents deserve something nice to occupy their time. So everyone has been invited to view the fireflies on the Near Shore - a traditional sort of viewing in Japan that usually takes place during the summer, when the fireflies are out in force.

Traditional attire is encouraged, but people are also encouraged to just let themselves be comfortable and drink the night away!

The Viewing

The spread for the viewing is gorgeous. There are some lights strung up the trees, blinking slowly like fireflies as the actual fireflies mingle with each other and the people who have come to see them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided light snacks and an alcoholic drink that is easy to drink and very potent.

Fireflies

The fireflies are very friendly and easy to catch. They will gladly blink up from anyone's palm who happens to hold them. Also, they seem to have no fear of the people here, coming up close to anyone who happens to be nearby. They may even land on you if you stand still enough!

Blights

It will become more and more evident as the night wears on that some of the fireflies look distinctly different from the rest - they are larger and darker in color and more aggressively "friendly" than their fellows. These are the ayakashi disguised as fireflies and wherever they have touched someone, they will have left blighting. And that blight will slowly spread - should anyone else touch the blight, it will spread to them as well. The blight is not unique other than the fact that it doesn't seem to start hurting until after the blighted party has noticed it.

Vent

The opened vent is around a hundred feet from where the party is being held. Ayakashi are still pouring out of it, each of them as small as the firefly-like counterparts. Anyone who approaches the vent will be attacked by a swarm of bug-sized ayakashi. The vent is closing, albeit slowly, and will close more rapidly as more gods and shinki come to keep the ayakashi in check. By midnight, it should be closed completely.

[ All he did was go to refill his drink, and Shizuo managed to hear his goddess before seeing her again. Which isn't the only time before he's back around to her vicinity. If he didn't work at a bar, the blond would think that Yona was just drunk off of atmosphere or something along those lines.

Eventually when he gets close again, Shizuo gently holds Yona's wrist to keep that cup still. That way he can take a good sniff at the contents. ]

... Zeno's doing, I take it?

Shizuo!

[ His goddess beams up at him, happy to see him. Even if he is sniffing her drink. It does smell fairly potent, but very fruity. It's good! ]

You're back! And yes. Do you want some, too? I can call him back...

[ Yeah, see, he can tell when it's potent. Which is why that'll be gently confiscated right now. ]

I thought you knew by now that I don't like to drink. Just like how you should know that you're underage.

[ Oh, no he doesn't. She scooches away from him, still clutching her drink and frowning at him.at him. ]

I am not underage. And if you're not going to have any, you can't take mine.

[ Good attempt, if you hadn't let him grab your wrist. He'll be gentle, but he's still confiscating. ~~It's not like he'll know she grabbed a second cup though, unless she did it around Shizuo.~~ ]

Legal drinking age is 20 in this time, Yona. You're four years underage.

I'm not from this time and that's a silly rule!

[ Twenty? Honestly?? That's so old!

She's still scowling and holds her cup out in her other hand, trying to stretch it past Shizuo's reach. ]

I'm not underage where I come from, I've had alcohol before. It was often shared and enjoyed at events like this.

It's not a rule. It's the law.

[ Look, he's just gonna wait until you realize he's not letting go, and try to chug the drink. That'll get it within reach to snatch away. ]

Which applies even more when you're drunk. Now give me the drink before I just take you home.

That's not a law in the Heavens!

[ Which is clearly the only one that matters here.

Except his threat doesn't really work, because at the mention of taking her home reminds her of what else she can do.

Which is why she vanishes right out of his grip.

And reappears seated on the grass several feet away.

Casually drinking more of her alcohol. ]

No.

[ Great. Now she's drunk-teleporting. It gets Shizuo to use a tone that he never thought he had, much less was capable of. A scolding tone. ]

Yona. You're drunk already. I'm cutting you off. Either you hand the cup over, or I break it.

[ He never thought he'd have to give the girl this treatment. Then again, she was never drunk before. Not around him. ]

[ She blinks at him. And then down at her cup. ]

I'm not drunk! It's only one drink. And you shouldn't break it, that would be a waste!

[ She's pretty sure she's not drunk anyway. She feels just like normal! Except maybe a little floatier. ]

Yona, I can say this as a bartender, not as your shinki, that you are definitely drunk.

[ Which, teleporting or not, he's going to be walking right for Yona. ]

If I have to take it, we're bringing you home.

[ He's not beyond having to gather reinforcements from Hak and Jae-Ha. Especially with how quickly the girl was intoxicated. ]

I don't want to go home yet, Shizuo.

[ There's something very firm underlying in that tone, something that doesn't often peek out from her - and certainly not towards her shinki. But there's something else mixed in with it as well, even though she sighs and reluctantly holds out her cup when he stalks towards her. She hadn't intended to make him mad. ]

Alright. But I still think you're wrong.

[ The fact that he's never had Yona take that tone to him only confirmed that she was drunk to some extent. Luckily he wasn't mad, but he had to be responsible for the both of them. What if someone took advantage?

As firm as the blond was being, he's still gentle when taking the cup away
from her. It's not all him taking things away, though. While not what she wants, he'll replace it with a non-alcoholic drink instead. ]

Try to sober up before the night's done, okay?

[ Someone had to have a death wish to try and take advantage of her. Have you seen her shinki and her dragons?

She just sighs and obediently drinks from the new drink he'd given her. Which luckily tastes as pleasant as what Zeno had given her, if not accompanied by quite so many warm fuzzies. ]

Yes, Shizuo. I'll try.

[ Some people do, and wouldn't mind trying to take advantage of them, too. Yona, you might not have noticed, but you're surrounded by very attractive people (and Zeno, who's just attractive.) Some people wouldn't mind having a sampler course. ]

Eat something if you can, and go enjoy yourself.

[ Make friends, enjoy the sights. Just please, don't drink. He'll let you do mostly anything else. ]

[ Oh, she's noticed alright. That's really hard to miss, after all.

Still, she relents and gives him a small smile, because she knew he was just trying to look out for her. It wasn't right for her to get upset over it. Even if she was disappointed he insisted on taking her drink. ]

I will., Shizuo. You don't have to fuss so much either. Go have fun.
