Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.

Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




Divine Bureaucracy

Wasn't it the newly revamped Shinki Agency's job to assign shinki this time... They thought it was the original team of Amaterasu's shinki's job this one last time before Shinki Agency took over the responsibility. Needless to say, when the shinki wake up at the Meeting Hall, there's a lot of shouting. Eventually, one of the Shinki Agency representatives herds the new shinki together and instructs them to please all go to Bishamonten's temple for the time being and they will send a runner with the god-shinki assignments as soon as they can.

New gods and old gods alike will not be notified that there is a mix-up unless they come to Bishamon's temple for Training, until the Shinki Agency can figure out what happened.

Important addendum: For this round, gods still have a vision of how their shinki died, however they can't make out any details, particularly about who they saw die.
Once a shinki of the Agency gives the god the name of their shinki, the god is then able to find them by name. Once they give their shinki a vessel name the god will have the full vision of how their shinki died.

This addition comes in response to some questions and need for clarification. Apologies and thank you for your input.

God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

• New characters are welcome to ask old characters if this mix-up is common (spoilers: it's not)

• New Gods: take what information you can from Amaterasu's shinki (see FAQ) while waiting to find out if you've been assigned a shinki

[Here's an impressed boy who just saw the entire transformation. What he saw isn't particularly strange for his standards, but that doesn't make it less cool.]

Whoa! Astonishing! I like the blue flaming glamour effect. What is the situation with the skull mask, though? A fan of the Punisher? Are those your god powers or are you a superhero?

[If he listens real carefully, he might just hear the sound of Ryuji's ego inflating very rapidly. He huffs a hearty laugh right from his gut and lets his chest puff out a little in pride, his hand reaching up to adjust the red scarf around his neck.]

Damn, never thought about it that way before... Guess the Phantom Thieves are kinda like superheroes. 'Cept we ain't from the comic books or whatever! [The hand at his neck touches his mask.] Wearin' masks over our true selves or somethin' cheesy like that.

[Loki raises an eyebrow.] Hmmmm. If your team is called the Phantom Thieves, then the archetype of antiheroes would suit you better. Most heroes wouldn't call themselves delinquents in public, at least not unironically. But really, antiheroes are much cooler than regular heroes anyway.

Does your true self have a thing for skeletons or poison? [He points at the mask.]

[This kid's getting a little too deep for Ryuji so he's a little grateful he ended on a question that's easy for him to answer. Even though his answer doesn't really answer anything...]

Nah. At least, I don't think so. One of my friends got a cool fox mask but it ain't like he's a fox.

It's probably some sort of symbolism you're not aware of. Just like that Internet group that uses Guy Fawkes masks! They don't really burn things up with them, they just really liked V For Vendetta. Thus, a symbolism for a state of anonymous.

...I still wore that mask when I set up a bomb one time. Double layers of symbolism are better than one.

[His sentence comes to a screeching halt when he realizes what the other kid's just said, and he jumps back a pace or five.]

Wait, what!? Setting up a bomb!? For real?

[Is he just yanking his chain right now? No way he could be serious.]

[He looks like he's trying not to laugh, so it's hard to say if it's joking or not.]

Aye, we blew up Stonehenge and a bunch of British monuments because of reasons. With Guy Fawkes masks on.

That's okay, they got better. The fae reconstructed them and there were no wounded. Don't look at me like that.

[He is going to keep looking at Loki the same way he's looking at him right now because what.]

What kinda reasons!?

The old system really sucked, so these new gods declared war on them to establish change. But the violent way was not optimal because wars are bad, so what we did was punch them in their sites of power so they would lose and sign a treaty with the revolution. Just typical trickster fashion.

Oh yeah.

[His remark is obviously sarcastic, and he half throws his hands up in the air.]

[He just said there were reasons. It's not something he does "for the lulz". It ranked high in the list of worst things he had done in his life. He didn't even take a selfie because it felt wrong.

Loki bites his lips to turn the grimace into a smirk easier.]

Come on, did you really think a weak kid my age could have the means and wits to blow up Stonehenge or whatever, Phantom-san?

Ph-Phantom-san? [What in the...] Dude, Ryuji is fine... or Sakamoto. Whatever you want.

[Just don't call him late for dinner.]

Well, I dunno. Kids these days have done some pretty crazy shit.

[Trust him, he's seen it first hand because he's done some pretty crazy shit himself...]

[He lets out a sigh.] It's hard to figure out who wants the honorifics and who doesn't. Why is Japan so confusing?

That might vary from world to world. Is it plausible in yours that a kid could blow up Stonehenge in an act of benevolent terrorism?

Well, maybe... It's possible, yeah.

[He scratches the back of his head, suddenly feeling very much put on the spot.]

But where I'm from, it was the adults shittin' up the world. Doin' all sorts of shit that ain't right.

At least I can assure you, whether it was a joke from my part or the heartfelt truth, that I cannot replicate that sort of stuff here. I can't find a remote detonator in any of the Application Stores of both mainstream phone platforms.

[Apparently there isn't an app for everything in this place. Bummer.]

That sounds accurate according to my experience. Very few villains are under 18 in my universe, even though the "just" adults could easily label a youth as irredeemable evil.

Well, ain't that reassuring.

[Good to know that people can't detonate things remotely around here. Then again, what with these shinki and god powers, you'd think it'd make it a hell of a lot easier to do just that without having to worry about whether or not it's remotely.]

Wouldn't even call 'em villains. Some of 'em are just shitty people, y'know? All there is to it. Villains belong in video games and comic books.

[changeanddie]

[Luckily, Loki's god powers aren't of the kaboom variety so no benevolent terrorism to come... until he regains his old cellphone, at least. And still then, no plans for scheduled demolitions in the future so far.]

Well, I'm a comic book character so we have both the villains, the shite people, and the ones who are all of the above.

A ... comic book character? [....] Dude, what kinda funky shit does this place do to your head? If you're some kinda comic book character then I'm from some kinda video game or somethin'.
