19 | Peaceful Departure
Who: Everyone!
What: Celebrating Obon
When: Evening August 10
Where: The Near Shore
Summary: Mortals may be partying, but there's lots of work for the denizens of the Far Shore to do.

It's the final day of Obon and spirits are being sent back to their homes -- both the ancestral spirits that have been welcomed home for the duration of the festival and the mischievous spirits that have been plaguing the Heavens. But some of them might not go easy, so Amaterasu has requested that gods and shinki old and new alike help ensure the spirits' peaceful departure.

Mukae-bi
- Fires have been lit on hillsides and near cemeteries to lead the spirits back to their resting places and to protect them on their way, but angry ghosts and ayakashi are trying to quench the fires so they can attack weaker spirits. Keep the firewood stocked and the fires blazing high while you fight off the attacks.
Heavenly Exorcisms
- It's time to bring any possessed household items to the Near Shore to ensure that the spirits are sent safely on their way. Some might go peacefully, while others might have to be purified by fire in order to set the spirits free. Hope you weren't too attached to that chair.
(Careful... spirits that manage to hide from the housecleaning can become permanent guests!)
Guarding the Gates
- Hidden pathways into the underworld in caves throughout Japan are open from sunset to moonset on this night to allow the spirits who have temporarily left to return. Gods and shinki must watch over these pathways and ensure that no dangerous ayakashi take the opportunity to escape from the underworld before the moon sets.
After-party
- After the moon sets, the denizens of the Heavens can finally kick back. Everyone is invited to a private hot spring on the Far Shore, where a midnight banquet spread is waiting in thanks for their hard work. Wash off any blight in the hot springs and enjoy the banquet before heading back home for a good night's sleep.

In Summary:
- Keep the fires burning
- Exorcise those annoying spirits
- Fight powerful ayakashi
- Enjoy a banquet
- Have fun~

[ It was annoying that he had to deal with this. In fact, he would rather not be doing this but perhaps this place had made him kinder. He had been keeping things at bay for the time being and it felt damn good to block the potential ghosts and ayakashi from quenching those fires.
Another slash of his sword to keep their distances. However, he's not sure how effective that was given that he learned the concept of borderline but cannot use it due to his own free lancing ways. Perhaps, it was a situation where he really should consider contracting a God. ]
It would be much more helpful if you can be useful. Otherwise, please loiter somewhere else.
[ He mused as he bumped into someone who was maybe minding their own business or in his way. ]

Tch'
[ He's clearly not in any shape to do this on his own. It's been a struggle since then and he knew that he had hit a point in his time here that he should really consider contracting some kind of God. After all, being unable to use any shinki abilities without a God canbe quite troublesome.
He cuts yet at another ayakashi but it doesn't do anything. Instead, he's gets hurt in the process as he slides back. One of the smaller ayakashi had been able to slip through and get him at the side. He could feel the blight affecting him, yet he kept his face as neutral as possible.
Maybe give him a hand? ]

[ It's the first time that Ichiru had been exposed to actually being injured since most of the time he could managed a majority of the smaller issues. However, with the guarding and everything he managed to get a few scrapes of blight over his abdomen area and now staring at the holy water.
He's never really attempted this so he had his own concerns on what kind of effects the spring had. He touched it casually for a moment before stepping back. Perhaps, he really needed to consider a lot of things as he starts to peel off the layers of clothes that he had to get to the wounded areas.
He shoots a look at whoever was approaching him while he was in his own devices. ]
Do you need something?

Itachi-san.
[ Not long after the conversation with Zero and Itachi, Ichiru made his way over to find the ninja. He's had pleasant encounters with the man in the past and he had not once proven he was untrustworthy. In fact, he was probably one of the few would consider and ally and friend. Itachi also could relate to how he felt when it came to Zero's memory's being lost.
It seemed even more painful to know that he had been forgotten once. Ichiru had never really made attempts to eavesdrop on anyone but he happened to pass the two on his way out and this was the outcome of it. It seemed like Itachi might need someone to talk to and Ichiru was in that mood where he wouldn't mind. ]

[ For anything that anyone wants to do that isn't in the prompt! Feel free to PM or plurk me @kagaminokakera ]
B.
You look like crap.
no subject
Though, he doubt she would be of any use. ]
And you're completely useless.
[ He replied bluntly. ]
What are you doing?
no subject
[Her eye twitched in annoyance, mostly because he was sort of right.]
Fighting ayakashi. What? Did you think I was here to help you?
[She swings at another one as it tries to jump in thei direction.]
no subject
I honestly wasn't asking for your assistance, so don't expect any form of gratitude from me. You can simply be on your way.
[ He shrugged ]
Your lies are rather transparent.
[ He slams his blade into another one that came near him. ]
no subject
[She spins on her heel to swing at one coming from behind.]
You probably pissed them off, didn't you?
no subject
[ He retorted blandly as he stared at the creatures. ]
Hardly. I was minding my own business and they were the ones that took the first hit.
no subject
[It was a coincidence though that she happened to be there. Chinatsu was starting to question the amount of bad luck she had. ]
Maybe you just exude annoying.
no subject
[ He replied giving her a dead pan look for her comment. ]
Don't be childish.
D
Ichiru-kun. [ He nodded his head towards him politely. ] ...Trying to enjoy the evening?
no subject
I think you know better than anyone else that it isn't the case.
[ He replied to Itachi as he tried to maybe lighten the situation. ]
You seemed troubled.
no subject
[ He crossed his arms. ]
...This place is run by gods... but it is hardly stable. The gods that are here are doing a terrible job.
no subject
[ He cocks his head as Itachi said otherwise. ]
There is nothing stable about a world who labels people as Gods and Shinkis. Even more so that they can tamper with memories to their leisure. Such things can be quite-- annoying, don't you agree?
[ He replied giving the other a glance. ]
no subject
Is there any sort of bond that you still feel there?
no subject
[ He crosses his arms as Itachi responded to his question. He obviously didn't want to talk about these things with anyone. Whether he felt some sort of thing towards Zero or not was no one's business but his own.
Itachi isn't wrong to to mention it though. He had always felt strangely nostalgic but there was no actual substance to back up why he felt it. The fact that he stuck around while Zero was gone was also another point that Itachi would have probably notice. He's not very vocal about what he had to say but his actions always reflected how he truly felt. ]
I don't recall anything about him-- his name, his identity and what his relation to me is. I am quite aware of the possibilities but he refuses to speak of it no matter what method I try.
[ He continues to stare at Itachi for a moment longer. ]
Why are you asking?
no subject
I was going to inquire something of Zero... but now that he no longer remembers me... I am now even more unsure of what the answer will be, or... if it is even worth asking.
But... if there is even a small chance of him still feeling any for of familiarity with me, even if he's forgotten, then...
...Perhaps...
...But...
no subject
If there is something you must ask-- then why not do it? There's no point in dwelling over it. Whether he remembers or not is irrelevant. The worst he can do is reject your request. That isn't something that will kill you inside will it?
[ He glanced at Itachi as he said his piece. ]
In any case, whatever you choose to do is your choice. Even if he doesn't recall anything about the past, he's not the type to hurt others intentionally.
[ After all-- he's too kind for his own good. ]
no subject
I know he wouldn't hurt me intentionally. Or anyone. [ It made Zero a good person. He looked to Ichiru. ] ...But one can still be hurt, regardless of intention.
...I'm jealous of your position. If it were you... the answer would be favorable. You are part of his family, undoubtedly... and it is clear in his eyes that he cares for you.

B!
Is it alright if Allen drops in? Because he's going to somewhat literally. Sword point first. Which, given it's a massive white and gold broadsword as long as he is tall and almost as broad... he kind of rides it with a boot on the hilt straight down into the scorpion-esque ayakashi Ichiru had just cut at, a radiant thud and boom from the force of the drop that catches the white, feathery cloak streaming from his shoulders like ragged, ethereal wings. After all, if there's any god that manages to be in his element even without his shinki when it comes to fighting malicious spirits..
He twists to Ichiru, like he isn't trying to ride out how really upset the ayakashi is at being impaled like, well... kind of like the bug it resembles... ]
Are you alright? [ He was hit, wasn't he?
Although the ayakashi is squirming and burbling as it tries to pull itself free of the blade of exorcism, he should probably look like he's paying more attention to that... ]
no subject
At least, he didn't make any rude comments towards the other and merely watched in surprise when Allen came flying in and taking out some of the Ayakashi on his own. Well, that's not a site you would see everyday. He was definitely piqued by it. ]
Worry about yourself.
[ He retorted when the angry ayakashi seemed to be extremely furious. Of course, he wasn't going to help the ayakashi. Instead he stabs it with his own weapon to ensure it stayed where it was for a long time. ]
no subject
It's not like Allen would actually expect gratitude because that's also not the point, but still.. What a familiar sting. ]
My mistake. [ Somehow for being polite he doesn't sound terribly apologetic though, but you can blame being in battle for that. (Maybe.) Reckless shinki meet reckless savior-syndrome.
However—hup!—he's right that there are more pressing matters, and as Ichiru pins the scorpion-ayakashi down as well Allen leaps free, narrowly avoiding the barbed tail that swings at his face. Don't mind him if he stands shoulder to shoulder with you for the time, Ichiru. Looks like you're stuck with him.
Although the god would appear to be one-armed, his cloak hanging loose where his left should be—and his eyes on the immobilized ayakashi in front of them. Even with two swords and Allen's a holy blade of exorcism, it wouldn't hold and he can't destroy them on his own...
There's also the matter of the smaller ayakashi that had originally blighted Ichiru. Where did it go? ]
Your partner—are they nearby...?
no subject
Fortunately, he didn't dismiss Allen completely. There's some sort of formality there on the teen's end. He's also was aware that he couldn't handle this on his own as he came to learn the hard way. ]
Is it really?
[ He tilted his head to side for a moment. He's not sure how to he's going to deal with this stranger. However,Ichiru was fine that he didn't sound apologetic. He wasn't exactly social himself this was very much true.
He did kind of mind but in this given situation there was no getting around it. They needed some team effort to keep the creature at bay until things settled down. Ichiru sighed heavily when they were pressed shoulder to shoulder.
Unfortunately for Allen, Ichiru was a shinki that had no contracts with any given God. In fact, he might be even more useless than the God that just assisted him. Ichiru was looking for the smaller one as he replied to Allen. ]
I'm afraid you'll find none. You found a very unfortunate shinki to save.
[ He was definitely blighted but still showed no signs of it affecting him. It was better this way than have people fuss over him. ]
1/2
Admittedly, he caught Allen offguard with that, the Exorcist's expression becoming slack as that sinks in. Not a shinki separated from his god... but without one entirely?
Moreover... he was out here fighting anyway, even without the ability to rend?
That's—actually something that Allen would do. ]
2/2
Then I'm going to. [ He says that sort of thing softly, but with the unwavering sort of certainty of someone who promises that sort of thing both very easily and not lightly. Whether Ichiru meant the statement ironically or with sincerity, whether Allen saw the situation more as "I'll help you" than "I'll save you" when he jumped in—it doesn't matter. Whether these are ayakashi he can easily rend with Lux or not—it doesn't matter.
It's just how he is.
Even if the larger scorpion-ayakashi is beginning to tear itself free from their blades and gives a gurgled hiss and Allen braces. ]
I promise.
no subject
Will you really?
[ He cocked his head to the side as Allen spoke softly to him. Honestly, why did he seem to attract these kinds of people? It wasn't something he was used to so the response caught him somewhat off guard as well. By the end of the day, they only need to hold it down until things calmed down. The struggle was that it would probably take a huge amount of effort with a Godless Shinki and Shinki-less God, if that was what Allen was.
Heck, maybe he had a partner that Ichiru didn't even know about-- either way they had to somehow make it. Ichiru pulled his weapon away to stab the ayakashi again to get it away from Allen only to have the small one they were trying to find fly right at the both of them when it thought it had caught the two off guard. ]
Don't make promises, you can't keep.
