19 | Peaceful Departure
Who: Everyone!
What: Celebrating Obon
When: Evening August 10
Where: The Near Shore
Summary: Mortals may be partying, but there's lots of work for the denizens of the Far Shore to do.

It's the final day of Obon and spirits are being sent back to their homes -- both the ancestral spirits that have been welcomed home for the duration of the festival and the mischievous spirits that have been plaguing the Heavens. But some of them might not go easy, so Amaterasu has requested that gods and shinki old and new alike help ensure the spirits' peaceful departure.

In Summary:
What: Celebrating Obon
When: Evening August 10
Where: The Near Shore
Summary: Mortals may be partying, but there's lots of work for the denizens of the Far Shore to do.

It's the final day of Obon and spirits are being sent back to their homes -- both the ancestral spirits that have been welcomed home for the duration of the festival and the mischievous spirits that have been plaguing the Heavens. But some of them might not go easy, so Amaterasu has requested that gods and shinki old and new alike help ensure the spirits' peaceful departure.

Mukae-bi
- Fires have been lit on hillsides and near cemeteries to lead the spirits back to their resting places and to protect them on their way, but angry ghosts and ayakashi are trying to quench the fires so they can attack weaker spirits. Keep the firewood stocked and the fires blazing high while you fight off the attacks.
Heavenly Exorcisms
- It's time to bring any possessed household items to the Near Shore to ensure that the spirits are sent safely on their way. Some might go peacefully, while others might have to be purified by fire in order to set the spirits free. Hope you weren't too attached to that chair.
(Careful... spirits that manage to hide from the housecleaning can become permanent guests!)
Guarding the Gates
- Hidden pathways into the underworld in caves throughout Japan are open from sunset to moonset on this night to allow the spirits who have temporarily left to return. Gods and shinki must watch over these pathways and ensure that no dangerous ayakashi take the opportunity to escape from the underworld before the moon sets.
After-party
- After the moon sets, the denizens of the Heavens can finally kick back. Everyone is invited to a private hot spring on the Far Shore, where a midnight banquet spread is waiting in thanks for their hard work. Wash off any blight in the hot springs and enjoy the banquet before heading back home for a good night's sleep.

In Summary:
- Keep the fires burning
- Exorcise those annoying spirits
- Fight powerful ayakashi
- Enjoy a banquet
- Have fun~
A.
[ At the sound of his voice, she looks up from where she'd been working in the orchard, delighted that he is awake at last. And then she spots Eun and Min looking quite smug about their perches atop his shoulders and starts laughing. ]
I see you have made new friends.

[He approaches her, head shaking a bit.]
You seem to have made some friends while I was asleep.
no subject
[ She laughs as she reaches up to rescue him from Min, at least, who seems to be the more mischievous of the pair. At least, if her frequent sneak attacks and perches on Shizuo are any indication. ]
I did. Souji sent them over, thought they'd be good company for the horses. However, I think they're coming to enjoy riding around on people far more.
[ She glances up to search his face intently a moment before motioning over to a stone bench set nearby. ] Come, sit down. How are you feeling? You had us worried.
no subject
[Min doesn't seem to be all that reluctant, but Izumo does crouch a bit so that Yona can grab her easier.]
Riding on people is a faster way to travel.
[He gives her a smile.] Sorry for the trouble, but I do feel better right now.

[ It's asked with a wry laugh, because the creatures that inhabit her temple now are like nothing she's ever encountered before, for all that they appear normal. She's still trying to understand what these Fae people her goddess had sprung from were, but what she had learned had told her they were far from mundane. ]
You weren't any trouble. But I'm glad you're feeling better. [ She does narrow her gaze at him now, however, as she cuddles a purring Min in her arms. ] Shizuo said you hadn't been sleeping.

[Especially with the fact that Izumo doesn't really spend a lot of time around animals in general, especially horses.
....Shizuo, did you rat him out.
Izumo has the decency to look sheepish.]
I've never really been a big fan of sleeping. Besides, working at a bar, I usually pull some all-nighters.

[He actually does pause at that. It'd be easy to lie to say that it is, but that's a problem that can easily be fixed. As it is, he doesn't need to be at the bar all the time. He's taught Davesprite how to make drinks, Shizuo is familiar with being a bartender, and he's got plenty of help.
Izumo chuckles, almost wryly.]
There are several reasons for that, Yona - not just the bar. Every time I sleep, something happens and it's usually never anything good.

[...He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.]
First time something like that happened was also the first time my temple blew up.

[He sends her a grateful smile.]

[ Because he looked a little fierce and dangerous, in her opinion. ]

[Best to avoid mentioning that he and Mikoto had fought initially, too.]
no subject
Good, I'm glad. I hope it helped some?
no subject
[not kind souls, anyway.]
no subject
[ She's not going to judge. ]
But you're still not sleeping because of it? [ This, at least, is something she can sympathize with. ]
no subject
That's right. The nightmares come a bit easier now.
no subject
I know how that is. [ She'd had the same problem - as if finding this place to be her temple hadn't been bad enough, witnessing the deaths of two of her closest companions hadn't helped any. ] Is there anything I can do to help?
no subject
There's no need, Yona. While dealing with it is difficult, I do have some good friends who are willing to listen to me. [Or fight it out with him. Either or.]

He places his hand on her head.]
I have no doubt that you do, Yona. [After all, he recalls how Shizuo's ablution went and the reasons for Yona's nightmares coming onto the surface.] But likewise; I do hope you don't hesitate to come talk to me about anything.
no subject
I won't. Thank you, Izumo. At the very least, I hope your rest has helped?

[ Because she's not letting you get away with that now that she knows, Izumo. ]
