Open! | Catch-All for August

Who: Yona and anyone!
When: Various points during the month.
Where: Her temple, the Far Shore, the Near Shore
What: Yona has decided this is the month she's going to learn more about this strange world she's been brought to.

A. The Near Shore

[ With most of the excitement over the past few weeks, Yona's in the mood for some distracting, something to keep her busy, or something she can engage in with the new companions she's made in this place. The biggest priority here is understanding more about this world she's found herself in and so she makes several trips down to the mortal world with the intent of exploring and learning more about it.

The place is full of wonders and she's often easily distracted as she wanders, whether it's by some strange new type of food that might catches her attention or a colorful storefront that draws her over to peruse strange wares. The first time she discovers an open market fills her with delight, because this is at least a little more familiar to how commerce is dealt in her world, but then she discovers a grocery store and her mind is blown all over again. She might loose several hours wandering through a bookstore, filled with more tomes than she's ever seen in one place. A colorful candyshop has her stopping to pick out gifts to take back home to her friends, picking out a strange and varied sample, all of them ones she'd never heard of before, but look fantastic all the same.

But as fascinating as it is, it's also a little overwhelming, and all too easy to get turned around. Hopefully, she can manage to not get too lost, or at the very least find someone to point her in the right direction, if she does... ]

B. The Far Shore/Aine's Temple

[ Things at her temple are often lively and filled with laughter. Any visitors are greeted with happy smiles, although on occasion, it's the temple's other residents that beat the gods and shinki to the greeting. Namely a mischievous pair of kittens who answer to the names of Eun and Min and enjoy getting into every bit of trouble they can find. Or perhaps it's one of the horses that make their home among the orchards, an intelligence in their gazes that speaks to much more than just a common animal and hints at fae bloodlines that come as part of Aine's heritage.

Or perhaps you've wandered by and there's a conspicuous lack of a greeting. A little wandering around might lead you to find the temple's goddess seated in the center of one of the gardens, eyes closed and her attention focused on.... something. Occasionally strange things will happen around her, such as a sudden gust of icy wind rushing outwards away from her or a shadowy outline of a bubble around her or a fiery claw slashing downwards, shattering a nearby rock in half before vanishing abruptly. Yona's only starting to understand what her magic can do and learning to master it is proving to be a challenge... ]

[ Instead of seeking the final shinki out, she sends Izumo a text instead. ]

If you're not busy this afternoon, would you be able to swing by the temple?

I can. I might be able to come by in an hour at the earliest.

Is something the matter?

Oh no, not at all! There is just something I wanted to discuss with you, when you have the time.

If that's the case, then I'll be there as soon as I can.

[Because it's Izumo and he doesn't like making people wait, no to mention that Yona's caught his interest now.

So, in about an hour, he arrives at the temple.]

[ Yona happens to be seated on one of the front steps, resting against one of the bright crimson pillars as she plays with one of the kittens. She glances up when she hears his approach, breaking into a smile. ]

Hello, Izumo! How are you today?

I'm doing quite well. What about you?

[He gives her a smile of greeting in return.

....And he's been good about keeping a normal sleeping schedule lately.]

Keeping busy. [ She laughs softly as she pushes herself to her feet as he approaches, greeting him on her feet, the kitten now bouncing around her feet and chasing the hem of her dress. ] I'm glad you could come by.

[He looks amused.]

How can I not when I was asked to come?

[His tone is teasing, though he can't help but be curious.]

[ She flushes a little and tucks her hands behind her back as she smiles at him. ]

I, ah. Have something for you. Sort of. I hope it's not too presumptuous of me, but... you've been such a good friend - to both me and Shizuo. And without your help recently...

[ Well. That would have ended badly for everyone, wouldn't it? ]

Anyway, I wanted to do something in thanks.

[It's just very fortunate for both of them that Izumo gets along as well as he does with Shizuo. His friendship with Yona? Just an added plus.

He blinks a bit, surprised.

Honestly, there's a mind to tell her there was no need, but at the same time, he knows it's a futile argument, anyway.]

Really? That's not presumptuous at all, but you know that it wasn't necessary to get me anything.

[Chikusa and Goten, maybe. So yes, he does give a little argument.]

Maybe it wasn't necessary, but I wanted to. Although you were not nearly as easy to shop for as Chikusa and Goten.

[ She laughs softly at this as she motions for him to follow her. ]

Come with me. I'm afraid your present is the sort I have to take you to instead of the other way around.

[He laughs softly.]

I hope you haven't tried asking people what would be a good gift to get me.

[Because honestly, no one knows what to shop for Izumo.

Either way, he gives her a nod.]

Lead the way then, Yona.

No, I had an idea in mind already. Besides, I'm not sure any of them would have had any more ideas than I did.

[ She leads the way into the temple, taking a familiar path that he should probably recognize as leading to the room he normally stays in when visiting. Upon reaching it, however, there's been a slight addition, a little sign hung on the door with Izumo's name written in elegant script.

She shifts from foot to foot, looking a little embarrassed as she motions to the door. ]

I thought, since you're here so often anyway and since your god's poor temple seems cursed with very bad luck... that having a place here that was yours might be an appropriate backup.

[ ...She hopes he doesn't just think her silly or presumptuous for offering. ]

I suppose.

[But the path is familiar enough to have him even more curious. A part of him wonders if Yona knows she's leading him directly the room he had unofficially claimed as his and another wondered if he'd end up being attacked by more animals.

However, the sight of the sign on the door has him blinking, prompting him to look over at Yona. Seeing how embarrassed she was, he couldn't help but smile a little. The smile only widened when she mentions Mikoto's bad luck temple, holding back a laugh.]

Thank you, Yona. I greatly appreciate your gift.

[He reaches over and places his hand on her head.]

So I can officially call this room mine then?

You can. [ She smiles up at him brightly when he laughs, not minding the pat on the head when he seems to enjoy the gift, and the sentiment behind it. ] You have a home here, Izumo. You will always have a place to retreat to, should you need one.

[He smiles at her.]

Thank you, Yona. I greatly appreciate it.

You're welcome. [ She laughs softly. ] Although I can't promise you won't have feline visitors while you're here. It seems they've already decided you're quite comfortable to sleep on.

That's nothing new. I'm used to all sorts of creature sleeping on me.

[I mean, Goten sleeps on Izumo most of the time already.]

[ Her mouth drops open before she starts laughing again. ] That doesn't sound very promising, Izumo. Is this a problem you have often?

[Izumo chuckles.]

Not exactly creatures, more like just children, but yes.

Some would say there's not much of a difference. [ But she's grinning up at him, amused. ] You really must make a very nice pillow, then.

You're free to try it out, too, if you'd like. [He smirks at her, amused.]

Are you offering to be my pillow, Izumo? I shall have to remember that the next time I need a nap. Perhaps I can convince you to take one, too.

[He laughs.]

Between the two of us, I'm more likely to sleep when I end up being used as a pillow for someone.

[ She casts him a sly, knowing smile. ]

Oh, now you've done it. Now I have a secret weapon to use whenever you look like you haven't been sleeping enough.
