006 | High School Debut

Who: Everyone!
What: Substitute teaching
When: All day April 5
Where: A large public school in Tokyo
Summary: There are too many teachers sick and the Far Shore residents need to help fill in!

For some reason or another, many teachers have gotten sick just as the new school year is starting! In a panic, the school is seeking out every substitute teacher they can find, which is still not enough, and so the gods have to step in as reinforcements. And the Heavens are insisting on Far Shore residents helping strictly because this sickness seems so darn suspicious.

So anyone who looks old enough is being asked to step in as a substitute teacher and anyone who looks young enough is being asked to blend in as a new student, all to help the school and find out what exactly is causing this mysterious illness plaguing only the teachers of this school. There are many subjects open to teach and all Far Shore residents are expected to act as if they properly belong in this school while conducting their investigation. That means you'll have to teach properly or attend classes, depending on which role you've taken on.

Some gods might even find it useful to try and get information out of students by possessing one of their own, therefore guaranteeing the trust of the others around them. It's all up to you how you choose to investigate!

Newcomers will find the following note in their pockets as they are transferred to the school:

Greetings and apologies for the strange introduction.

I am sure you have many questions and concerns, but you have appeared at a very inconvenient time. Please attempt to help us, if you can, and we will reward you to the best of our abilities.

If you have any questions, you can seek out the counselor. Too many students underestimate what a good counselling session can do towards helping to alleviate their fears and uncertainties.

Kindest regards,
☼ Amaterasu ☼

Classes

Being a big school, there are dozens of different subjects available. As teachers, you can practically teach anything you would like to, and as students you are facing a constant stream of completely different kinds of information. Maybe the school needs to tone it down a bit on how many different subjects they offer...

Hallways

The hallways are always a great place to mingle and get to know the other students in the school. You'll see all sorts in the hallways, ranging from the beautiful girls being followed by their fanboys all the way to the delinquents who are promptly making their way away from the classrooms for the rest of the day. Hopefully somebody around here will be able to give you a heads up as to what's going on.

Lunch

Lunchtime is the easiest time to gather gossip and information. Whether you are staying in the classroom with a bento or heading to the cafeteria to wrestle for some bread or spending your lunch in the faculty room with the rest of the not-sick teachers, you will find that both the students and the faculty are more prone to chatting during lunch. And a lot of them talk about a curse laid on the school because of the late principal...

Counselling

Surprisingly enough, there is a white-robed shinki in the counselling office of the school, and the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu can be found on her tunic as well as on the door to her small personal office. Oddly, all of the other students and faculty keep passing the door by, but the counselling shinki simply continues to smile gently all the same.

FINAL BOSS

Turns out there is something causing the illness in the teachers, and it's an exceedingly large ayakashi, one so large that no single god could possibly take it down. You'll have to all work together to weaken it enough for the rending to work on it.

The battle for the FINAL BOSS will be posted on the OOC date of July 17, all threads involving destroying him should go there when it is posted. All other events leading up to the FINAL BOSS battle should slowly build to figuring out that an ayakashi is at work.

In Summary:
  • Blend in
  • Make sure to go to class
  • Don't forget lunch!
  • Investigate the illness
  • Seek counselling if you need it
  • Defeat the FINAL BOSS
  • Have fun~

[Classes]

Eiji smiled brightly at the class of students whom he had been introduced as a student teacher who would be helping out with the English class since their usual teacher had been among the many who were unfortunate enough to succumb to the mysterious illness. A matter that was the primary reason he was here. Sure, it was issued by the Heavens but people were in trouble and there was something he could do to help with it.

As the class progresses and he helps with teaching it, he doesn't forget to keep an open ear out for potential information.

"Would anyone like to start us off on the next page?"

[Lunch]

Now that lunchtime was on, Eiji could do a lot more in terms of information gathering. He had stopped by the faculty office to eat his own small lunch, engaging in conversation with the staff that hadn't fallen victim to mysterious illness that had been so widespread. And they apparently thought the late principle was connected to it somehow.

That did sound like something to look into.

[Don't look at him Eiji. Ankh could be reading this blindfolded if he wanted to and he was doing his best to stay in character as a student that no one would really notice although it seems that he has attracted some attention. Mainly because Ankh does not just sit in a chair. He sits on the edge of the desk with his feet in the chair, and it looked like he did sort of put his feet in a chair that someone had wanted to use but now couldn't. Oops.

But he was mainly looking things up on his phone, listening with half an ear at some of the conversations starting up even though Eiji was trying to teach something. Which was probably why Ankh sighed heavily and grabbed the nearest book (some student just protested as the god did so but whatever), and started reading the next part in a bored sing-song voice.]

[Well, he didn't mean you specifically when he posed that question to the whole class, Ankh. And Eiji was acutely aware of his god monopolizing two desks for his use, leaving one of the poor students without their usual seat.

So Ankh is definitely getting an exasperated look from Eiji. For both the monopolization of the desks and filching another student's text book without asking if it was all right first.]
connivingbird: (did they just)

[personal profile] connivingbird 2016-07-16 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[What. This is what Ankh does Eiji, you should have realized it by now. But sure, he'll sigh and hand the book back and take his feet off the chair. He still was going to sit on his desk instead of at his chair, though he'll bring his legs up to kind of crouch there, with his hands on his knees and an eyebrow raised as if he was going to expect something from Eiji in response.

Sorry, Eiji, Ankh is a bit of of an ass though he does somewhat modify his behavior when Eiji points it out to him. Who's the god again?]

[personal profile] candothismuch 2016-07-17 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
[So he has come to learn. The exasperated look fades from his face when Ankh returns the book and goes to using one desk instead of two. The student quickly retakes the seat and Eiji speaks up.]

Thank you for that. But next time please ask before you take one of your classmate's books.
connivingbird: (oh eiji)

[personal profile] connivingbird 2016-07-17 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eiji, please, you know how he was about the asking thing. Besides, he figured that if he tried to do that, he was going to be ignored until he took the book anyways. But since it was important to Eiji, he was going to get a huff from the blond but no really loud annoyed protest. After all, Eiji was always going to be Eiji.]

Fine.

Ah, a fellow Far Shore resident in the faculty office. Good. Elsa approaches him after finishing her lunch, taking the seat next to him while the mortals head out.

"Are you up for looking around in the principal's office with me? I know the current one isn't the subject of the curse, but there might be something there."

She's prefectly happy to go alone, but another set of eyes is always helpful.

[personal profile] candothismuch 2016-07-17 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Someone was speaking to him. Eiji turns his head to see who it was that was addressing him, "Ah, yes. I was actually going to take a look there myself."

Having another set of eyes to look around certainly didn't hurt. And with two people looking there was higher chance of finding something.

"Well, let's go." She motions to the door with her head, then stands and starts to lead the way. "I know my way around a principal's office. I was one, before coming here. If there's anything to be found, I think I can figure out where it is."

Or so she hopes.

[personal profile] candothismuch 2016-07-17 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, really? What kind of school were you the principle of?"

Eiji stands and follows after Elsa as he asks that.

[personal profile] arealhardnose 2016-07-17 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Shooting him a smile over her shoulder, she answers, "A public high school in California." She will not talk about how she first got the job. "It wasn't very big, but it was busy." And she was possibly trying to kill a few students. But again, not talking about that.

With soft footsteps, Elsa walks past the secretary at her desk and into the principal's office. (Luckily, the door is open, otherwise people would start thinking that his ghost is walking in and out of the office all the time.)

"I'll start with his desk. Let's let each other know as soon as we find something."

[personal profile] candothismuch 2016-07-18 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
So it was a high school from another country that she had worked at. He doesn't ask anything more when they make it to the principle's office.

"All right. I'll check over here to see if there might be anything." The "over here" being one of the book shelves in the room next to one of the windows.

[personal profile] arealhardnose 2016-07-18 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
After a few minutes of silent searcching, Elsa crosses her arms and gives a sharp sigh. "Nothing. Not even an ugly snow globe." That is suspicious in and of itself, how unremarkable this man's office decor is, but it doesn't exactly tell them much. "He must be hiding something. Any luck?"

[personal profile] candothismuch 2016-07-19 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The bookshelf didn't yield anything of interest. Eiji scours it thoroughly before shaking his head, "No. I didn't find anything here."

But there were still places they hadn't looked at. Like the closet nestled against the wall.
arealhardnose: (ugh great)

[personal profile] arealhardnose 2016-07-19 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Snooping around through the cabinet by the window doesn't find them anything worthwhile either. "I don't think there's anything here." She glances at the clock on the wall and frowns. "I have to go teach a class." How frustrating. There's not much investigating to be done when she's busy teaching.

"All right. Back to the grind. If I find anything out, I'll spread the word. This is too important to keep to just a few people." And she learned her lesson after going to the undeworld: don't play the hero, no matter how much you think you've planned for everything.
