006 | High School Debut

Who: Everyone!
What: Substitute teaching
When: All day April 5
Where: A large public school in Tokyo
Summary: There are too many teachers sick and the Far Shore residents need to help fill in!

For some reason or another, many teachers have gotten sick just as the new school year is starting! In a panic, the school is seeking out every substitute teacher they can find, which is still not enough, and so the gods have to step in as reinforcements. And the Heavens are insisting on Far Shore residents helping strictly because this sickness seems so darn suspicious.

So anyone who looks old enough is being asked to step in as a substitute teacher and anyone who looks young enough is being asked to blend in as a new student, all to help the school and find out what exactly is causing this mysterious illness plaguing only the teachers of this school. There are many subjects open to teach and all Far Shore residents are expected to act as if they properly belong in this school while conducting their investigation. That means you'll have to teach properly or attend classes, depending on which role you've taken on.

Some gods might even find it useful to try and get information out of students by possessing one of their own, therefore guaranteeing the trust of the others around them. It's all up to you how you choose to investigate!

Newcomers will find the following note in their pockets as they are transferred to the school:

Greetings and apologies for the strange introduction.

I am sure you have many questions and concerns, but you have appeared at a very inconvenient time. Please attempt to help us, if you can, and we will reward you to the best of our abilities.

If you have any questions, you can seek out the counselor. Too many students underestimate what a good counselling session can do towards helping to alleviate their fears and uncertainties.

Kindest regards,
☼ Amaterasu ☼

Classes

Being a big school, there are dozens of different subjects available. As teachers, you can practically teach anything you would like to, and as students you are facing a constant stream of completely different kinds of information. Maybe the school needs to tone it down a bit on how many different subjects they offer...

Hallways

The hallways are always a great place to mingle and get to know the other students in the school. You'll see all sorts in the hallways, ranging from the beautiful girls being followed by their fanboys all the way to the delinquents who are promptly making their way away from the classrooms for the rest of the day. Hopefully somebody around here will be able to give you a heads up as to what's going on.

Lunch

Lunchtime is the easiest time to gather gossip and information. Whether you are staying in the classroom with a bento or heading to the cafeteria to wrestle for some bread or spending your lunch in the faculty room with the rest of the not-sick teachers, you will find that both the students and the faculty are more prone to chatting during lunch. And a lot of them talk about a curse laid on the school because of the late principal...

Counselling

Surprisingly enough, there is a white-robed shinki in the counselling office of the school, and the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu can be found on her tunic as well as on the door to her small personal office. Oddly, all of the other students and faculty keep passing the door by, but the counselling shinki simply continues to smile gently all the same.

FINAL BOSS

Turns out there is something causing the illness in the teachers, and it's an exceedingly large ayakashi, one so large that no single god could possibly take it down. You'll have to all work together to weaken it enough for the rending to work on it.

The battle for the FINAL BOSS will be posted on the OOC date of July 17, all threads involving destroying him should go there when it is posted. All other events leading up to the FINAL BOSS battle should slowly build to figuring out that an ayakashi is at work.

In Summary:
  • Blend in
  • Make sure to go to class
  • Don't forget lunch!
  • Investigate the illness
  • Seek counselling if you need it
  • Defeat the FINAL BOSS
  • Have fun~

[Not a total expert, he just paid attention in biology class mostly...]

Because of the size. Male spiders are almost always smaller than the females, often a lot smaller.
galactically: (my feelings do not rest)

You must know a lot about those bugs! To think that female spiders are bigger than males.

[It's a mildly amusing thought to Sheryl, but also a nice one weirdly enough, despite her own reservations against creepy critters.]

I wonder if they're stronger, too.
oneblackcat: (sheepish)

[Omi rubs the back of his head with a light chuckle. He doesn't think what he knows is anything extraordinary, but maybe there's something to be said for being naturally curious.]

I would guess they are... Actually, it's not uncommon for a female spider to eat a male after mating.
galactically: (the pen is mightier than the sword)

[personal profile] galactically 2016-08-09 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, my...!

[There's a tiny gasp emitting from herself, keeping her curiosity intact despite the surprise that flashes in her eyes, but it comes and goes. So now she appears thoughtful at Omi's words. Female spiders eating male ones after a mating ritual? Scandalous.]

Even in nature, it seems that women have certain advantages to men in these kinds of things.

[Omi can't help a bit of a laugh.]

It sounds like you speak from experience, Sheryl!

[He could believe it, too. As pretty as she is, she probably has no difficulty holding the upper hand over any hopefuls.]
galactically: (laughing at your silliness)

[personal profile] galactically 2016-08-10 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sheryl laughs along with him, a confident jut of her chin at the conversation.]

It's how I learn to survive in the show business! You have to gain enough power over those who try to claim your territory.

[By sneaking away from paparazzi and unsavory perverts...]
oneblackcat: (innocent smile)

[personal profile] oneblackcat 2016-08-14 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh?

[Omi blinks in surprise, and then his expression lights up with interest.]

You come from show business? That's so cool! What do you do?
galactically: (you won't find a woman as great as me)

[personal profile] galactically 2016-08-15 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[The way Omi looks when he's enthusiastic is so cute to Sheryl that she can't help but release an amused puff, grinning.]

I sing. [conviction in just a few words] Mm, no. I sing, write my own songs, and dance.
oneblackcat: (cheerful)

[personal profile] oneblackcat 2016-08-18 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
That's amazing... I had no idea you were so talented! How did you get into it? It must be so competitive.
galactically: (fly forth my love)

[personal profile] galactically 2016-08-20 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Very competitive! It's a very long story, Omi.

[Really long — both the good, the bad, and all the unsavory bits in one complicated package. Her smile remains intact, a sense of nostalgia within her.]

I got into music when I was a little girl, all thanks to my favorite rock band. The lead vocalist inspired me so much that I just knew I found my calling in life. That I have to sing. I'm meant to be on stage and have millions of people chant my name.

[She chuckles, letting her feet dangle up and down.]

So I convinced my previous manager to let me sing. So many auditions and rejections, but in the end, the rest was history.
oneblackcat: (interest)

[personal profile] oneblackcat 2016-08-21 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Omi listens with interest while Sheryl tells her story. It's a great tale of perseverance and following one's dreams. She has a lot of inner strength to be able to push through all of that to the attainment of her goal.]

That's really incredible... I'd love to hear you sometime! Do you still do any singing here?
galactically: (you continued to smile so gracefully)

[personal profile] galactically 2016-08-22 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
[The best summary Sheryl can come up with, really, without the gritty events that stemmed from her past. As long as Omi is happy with her words, that's all that matters.

She lets out a puff of breath, flicking her hair off her shoulders with a smile.]

You're asking a singer if I still do any singing? That's like asking a bird with wings if it still flies.
oneblackcat: (count me in)

[personal profile] oneblackcat 2016-08-24 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Omi has painful secrets of his own when it comes to his past; all of Weiss did. It was something of an understood rule not to push anyone to share more than they're comfortable with, and it's one he carries here as well. If Sheryl ever were to share more about her background, he'd count himself honored for her confidence. Otherwise, it's enough to know what she's willing to tell him here.

With the confirmation that the opportunity to hear her sing still exists, his smile broadens.]

I look forward to hearing, then! Where should I go for that?
galactically: (bikini-clad fairy)

[personal profile] galactically 2016-08-24 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[It's not too often that she mentions her current workplace, but it makes her feel happy whenever she's asked the locations of where they can hear her sing. A sense of euphoria over music is what's coursing through her, as a professional singer.]

Find me at Feria and the Grand Hyatt Hotel. [A wink] That's where I'll be performing.

Got it... I'll definitely come see you sometime.

[And he will.]
