[ That makes sense, actually. If Konzen is the even more godly version of Sanzo, then he should have had an even easier time putting Seiten Taisei back down for a nap.

It's more like muscle memory than anything else. [ It's said almost like he's quoting something. He grunts under his breath, pushing himself up to ward off a nosy temple monkey. ]

It worked. [ Mostly, aside from the fact that he'd failed at sealing Goku. ]

[ Damn. He knew Sanzo was good at all that Buddhist magic stuff, but he didn't know he was that good! Being able to cast a spell like that... it's not just muscle memory. It can't be. He's seen Sanzo cast that spell a dozen times, and it's clearly got a lot of concentration and special steps and stuff to it. Just being able to pull it out of thin air? That's really something else. ]

I talked to a priest a few days before it happened. The weird old bastard gave me a few ideas. [ Not that the guy was exactly old, not really. Maybe ten years his senior, but he's not getting hung up on accuracy here. ] It doesn't matter.

[ Weird old priest immediately sets off warning bells for Gojyo, although he couldn't say why. Maybe it's the idea of Sanzo seeking out religious help -- for a monk, he's about as unreligious as anybody Gojyo's ever met. Or maybe it's that gut-churning reaction he gets whenever he starts thinking about saying past stuff to Sanzo. Either way, it's probably a topic they should move past, and quickly. ]

So long as it worked.

[ And it sounds like it did work... it didn't stop Goku, but Gojyo's not all that surprised by that. The kid isn't darkness, not really -- there's an enemy there, but beneath the fangs and claws is still Goku, and Gojyo can't imagine Sanzo being able to wield any kind of weapon that would hurt the monkey, memories or no. ]

[ It'd never once occurred to him to do anything more than hold Goku long enough to somehow seal away the worst of his power. To bind, not to harm. However it had worked, Goku was safe for now.

Either way, he'll take whatever chance he can not to dwell on dangerous topics. ]
