008 | Sakura 2.0: You Can (Not) Have A Picnic

Summary: Amaterasu has had a request to return to view the cherry blossoms one more time and she has decided to make it happen.



The cherry blossoms have yet to all fall from the trees, and so the Heavens have seen fit to hold another blossom viewing - this time with a picnic instead! The trees themselves do not have the ethereal glow they had last time, but there is a sweet scent that fills the air, drawing anyone inexorably towards the beautiful trees.

As a surprise, Amaterasu has sent her counselors to join the picnic as well. They can be found wandering around and enjoying the sights and foods just the same as anyone else.

All new arrivals will have been whisked away to the picnic by Amaterasu's shinki so that they can enjoy this escape just the same as everyone else. It seems Amaterasu doesn't want to leave anyone out this time, and so many of her shinki are milling around as well, clad in white with the golden chrysanthemum embroidered on their outfits.



Picnic

Dozens upon dozens of brightly colored picnic blankets have been provided for the guests to use. On top of that, pre-packed picnic boxes have been provided as well. They range from American-esque picnic baskets all the way to Japanese style bentos. Everyone is free to take as many boxes as they would like to and share among each other. Every picnic box has something different for everyone to enjoy.

Cherry Blossoms

The blossoms are falling freely now, showing that they are on their last leg of life. But the scent of the cherry blossoms has become so intense that it draws anyone who smells it towards the trees. You might find that if you breathe in too deeply or too long, it's like an intoxication equivalent to having drunk all night long. Good luck keeping up straight!

Performance

A performance stage has been erected in the park by the Heavens and there are a number of shinki who will sing and dance or perform in other ways whenever they have a spare moment. Gods and their shinki are encouraged to get up on the stage and perform as well, if they have anything that they would like to perform for their fellows.

Fire

Around sunset, the festivities will come to a screeching halt as a sudden burst of flames spreads through the trees, igniting them one by one. The spread of the fire is so rapid that it is very obviously unnatural. It will take a lot of teamwork and a large number of hands to put the fire out - or maybe you prefer to just run away. Either way, it will be hard to miss the pieces of paper that fly through the air, all bearing the same words: Down with the Heavens! Down with Amaterasu!

Cherry Blossoms

[It's one hell of a world here. The moment he arrives to the cherry blossoms, he starts to look around. He's already been to the picnic baskets and ate just the bare minimums. Nothing all that impressive.

But it's something he notices really quick; people are starting to get drunk. Just by being around these blossoms, he's already feeling a bit fuzzy. His face is a little red, which causes him to immediately cover up his nose.

Looking towards another person, he moves over to them.]

We need to leave. They're making us drunk.

[It's stern, and he needs to get out of here before they're all wasted.]

Fire

[He ignores the paper that he notices when the fire is blazing. The one thing he knows to do? Take command.

He immediately shunpos over to the buckets of water and grabs two of them before moving back, faster than what people can see. A bit of water splashes out, but it's better than running back and forth! If we've got powers? Use them!]

Take these!

[He hands off the buckets to people.]

Just throw them and I'll bring more!

[Before the person can say anything, Kensei leaves and comes back with another set of buckets, ready to throw.]

[The young girl who was heading towards the water suddenly finds a bucket in her hands. She opens her mouth.]

[But he's already gone. Oh. Well, she'll toss the water at the fire while he's gone at least!]

[When he comes back with another bucket of water, he notices exactly who he's handed the water to. Oh shit, small girl. At least she can handle it.]

You gonna be alright?

[He throws his own bucket and hands the other one over to her.]

[She brightens up when he returns, taking the next bucket gladly.]

Yep! I just have to keep throwing water at the fire!

[...that's not what he meant, but okay.]

Cherry Blossoms

[Izumo has barely gotten near the cherry blossoms when someone comes over and tells him they had to leave.

He wants to protest, but it dies quickly once he realizes how it's starting to affect the people.

It's another thing when he notices something towards this person, a brief tug that he felt towards another person before until they just disappeared.

For now, he just nods.]

Sounds like a good idea.

[The moment he sees this man, there's a connection he feels immediately. He takes a look at the man... no one he knows. But he doesn't question it.

They're going to have problems if they stay here too long.

He moves away from the cherry blossoms until the feeling of drunkenness has left them and then he turns to look at him.]

What's your name?

[It's Izumo's first time seeing him as well, but he remembers this feeling before back when he arrived.

Shame his former God was gone.

But as soon as they're away and this man is facing him, Izumo manages a smile in greeting.]

Izumo Kusanagi. And yours?

[He looks at him closely.]

You're my shinki.

[Another weapon. He's proud of his current weapons, but another to learn can't hurt, right?]

[ Too late. ] Ah-ummm...

M....mister-- [ Points to her nose. ] Your nose is red. [ This is followed by a giggle. Wow life sure is great today. ]

[Oh my god this is getting stupid. This is getting incredibly stupid and he wants so little to do with all of this.]

You're drunk.

[Like seriously drunk.]

Heeeey--- Hey. [ Waves her hand lazily. ] 'M not. [ So there. ]

I only hadda coupla drinks! [ And it's true!! She didn't go over her limit, at least to her knowledge. Or maybe she did. What time is it now?! ]

[Barry's noticed the effect of the blossoms by now, but he really can't be bothered to care.]

Siddown and enjoy it - we could all use a break!

[His hand covering his mouth and nose, it seems to be doing very little here.]

[Oh hello Hollow. So nice to meet you. Kensei immediately grabs his zanpaktou and spins it.]

Blow it away, Tachikaze!

[Which turned it into his nice sharp knife, which he immediately used to slice through the air, shooting airblades towards the hollow.]

[the FUCK. He may be drunkish, but his reflexes are still pretty good. He drops all of his bentos (NOOOO!) and pulls his sword from his back]

The fuck?! You made me drop my food! You wanna go, asshole?!

[Zoro laughs, drinking from his beer cup.]

Why? Being drunk sounds like fun.

This place is weird, so it seems pretty normal to me.

[He smirks, raising his cup.]

[A bucket being shoved into her hands is the last thing Lightning expected when she ran over to help with the fire. She just looks down at it as if it was foreign before sighing and throwing the water at the flames. Really, her magic will be much more useful for this, but why interrupt this guy when he's so eager to use water buckets.]

Right.

[Let's just say by the time he comes back to this particular savior, some of the trees will be covered in crumbling ice. She may not have a water spell, but ice works in snuffing out flames.]
