⌊ open⌉ Ayakashi
Who: Zero and Open
What: A week after THIS, Zero falls to an ayakashi and is killed.
When: May 11th
Where: Everywhere.
Warnings: Blood, violence, death
The blood had calmed the vampire enough for the Hunter to take back control, but after he did so Zero was left with the horror of what he'd done. Those who had fought him off had left their mark but his healing factor had taken care of any physical scars leaving only the mental ones. The ordeal had left him fearful of what he was, what he could do. He was a godless shinki without a leash. He couldn't control himself, not without the blood tablets and those were gone which left him grasping at straws. He was missing something, he knew it. He couldn't have been like this while he was alive. There must have been something that had kept the bloodlust under control, something in his memories to help him from becoming that again.
But what?! Without a god to guide him he had only himself and without his memories.... His memories! They held the answers. They had too! Something to stop the bloodlust, a key, a spell. Something. Anything.
And so it began. His fall. It started with a single question - how to control the vampire inside? - and ended with the beast that suddenly appeared before its prey. A loud crack echoed through the area as the wolf, ten feet tall, stepped forward. Its body was a composition of razor sharp silver rose vines that enveloped a darkness beneath. This time, the shinki didn't taunt, didn't track like the vampire. It fell across his victims and sought destruction as it sprang forward and snapped its teeth at its prey.

w/ lu meng, sanae, and zero ;;
Fortunately, her recovery could be described as nothing short of miraculous in the short term. There are no longer any bite marks upon her neck, the skin having fully healed, the puncture marks gone. The only indication that she was injured at all is the slight discoloration of her skin upon the side of her neck, the telling mark of blood that's been reabsorbed into tissue.
Her emotional state, however, isn't as prepared to handle how much she's lost in terms of her pride, of how she thought she's failed a friend and herself and the gods she served in her home world for losing. She's been trying to find him since then, scrying for his presence through water and mirrors, trying to locate just where he is. It just so happens that she divines that he's coming to her. Looking up, she begins to feel the presence of a strong ayakashi on her grounds. Then finally stepping out of her temple, flying to the foothills once again, she spots a twisted, demented form. Not a form she was expected of him, but her scrying tells her that this is-- was-- Zero. She sees the looming form of the vine-wolf approach just beyond a hill, she knows she can't let this one chance go to make this right, to make up for her mistakes.
That is, to exterminate this poor soul. One that's been corrupted almost beyond recognition.
"Genki," she whispers to the wind, calling her Shinki to her immediately. His vessel form is of a flip phone, and she only needs him on her person for her attacks to be effective against an ayakshi. Instead, she takes out a gohei for it feels much more familiar in her hands. Especially when she's beginning a battle against a monster like this.
Ah, the feeling is almost nostalgic. It's her duty as a miko, to exterminate these sorts of beings, whose souls have been turned too far from human. And although she grieves for the loss of her friend, and wants nothing but to kick herself for failing him...
This time, she won't be fucking around.
"You.... I will put your suffering to an end." She's sorry. She's very sorry. But it must be done. Without another word, she sends out her first attack: a rushing river of water that tumbles through the hills and fields, smashing against anything in its path with all the force of a fifty-ton wrecking ball.

She came in like a wrecking ballHeaven was supposed to be safe. The one place which he could let down his guard, secure in the knowledge that ayakashi weren't supposed to cross-over into this divine space. Sure there was the Susano-o mess, and then the fire at the sakura party, and fine, maybe he had been a little concerned when he heard about the nora gone ayakashi incident but overall life in Heaven has been largely peaceful and ayakashi-free. Even if there was chaos in the Heavens, their temple home had so far escaped danger. Lu Meng likes to think of their home as a safe refuge. The one place where he's secure in the knowledge that he and Sanae can enjoy their down-time in peace.
Then enter the vampire, and suddenly his delusions have been shattered into pieces.
He misses the easier days of their relationship, when it was founded on growing trust and respect for each other. Now he finds himself checking in on her every hour, sending consistent text messages whenever she's out of sight, asking her to inform him where she is. And when that failed to calm his worries, he began to insist on being by her side nearly 24/7. When she needs to run her own errands she carries him around in her pocket, put on sleep mode as a phone in his vessel form to preserve some semblance of privacy. He's being over-bearing; he knows that. But he doesn't know how else to protect her if she continues to insist on charging head-first into dangerous situations.
He can't trust her to take care of herself, and it hurts that he doubts her. But although the bruises on her neck have begun to fade the damage to their bond remains, and will remain for quite awhile.
So when she summons him with that intent to hunt down the vampire that had caused them both this misery, there's no hiding that sharp killing drive within him. He doesn't say anything to her as she takes to the sky; she knows his thoughts, knows the wrath that's bubbling beneath his skin. In fact, he relished the fact that the vampire had transformed into ayakashi; that means Lu Meng will get to contribute to its destruction. He watches with eyes that gleam with grim satisfaction as she sends the first attack at the vine-wolf's way.

A river of water rushed forward tearing apart everything in its path as it hunkered down on the ayakashi at full force. The beast jumped in the air as the river crashed through its spot, while vines shot toward the top of her temple seeking purchase. Once they caught a sturdy hold the wolf pulled itself up to the roof way from the attack.
Once its paws hit solid ground, the ayakashi didn't hesitate to retaliate. It threw back its head and howled into the air as burst of vines exploded from its mouth and rushed toward the goddess the razor sharp thorns seeking blood.

Having the higher ground now, she then issues her second attack with a wave of her gohei. Five white beams of light climb into the sky before taking a sharp ninety degree turn, then plummeting down towards the wolf. If he looks closely the heads of the giant beams seem to resemble snakes, but the truth is that they're moving too fast and shining too brightly to have much detail. It's a homing attack as well, and will follow to wherever he next leaps.

He doesn't need to speak up much but at the rare moments when it's needed, he calmly points out to her whenever a vine encroaches on her, just outside the periphery of her vision. He's not only encasing her heart with iron determination. He functions as a second set of eyes and ears, and together they ease their way out of the attack. He'll still be on the alert for any sneaky attacks but without any vines in attacking reach to bother her, Lu Meng watches as she rains down holy light on the creature.

If it couldn't evade the attack, it would take it. So long as the composition of its main body was kept in tact it was free of danger. The rose vines would take on the attack, sacrificing themselves for the core.

As an ayakashi, and one borne of a vampire, she presumes that his energy won't be as limitless. He may need blood, or negative energy from the woes and cries of humans. Neither of which is being supplied to him at this moment, and in contrast Sanae's power only becomes more concentrated through her shinki's unique ability. When one beam of light is consumed by a tangle of vines, the next follows through, and then the next, steadying pushing against him as there are five in total. But Sanae is on the offensive at this moment because if she doesn't stop him here, then who else will he hurt next? She won't allow that, for their sake.. and for Zero's. If he's still in there, then he shouldn't have to go through harming someone innocent.
That attack continues and keeping him distracted, and knowing that the beams' paths will stay true, she's allowed to begin her next assault. She casts her left hand out, and then upwards. Her fingers contract, her fist clenches, and then she whips that arm down in a path towards him like a hammer to an anvil. At first nothing happens, but then the sky darkens with a loud rumble. Then the sun itself is outshone as two bright spheres descend from gods knows where, radiating white, warping the space just beyond their corona through heat and gravity. Stars, literal daytime stars have entered the field, and they follow the arc of her throw. Spinning quickly, the chromosphere expels prominences like lasers at the wolf.
Quite frankly, she intends to overwhelm him.

Frankly, he's glad she's dedicated her heart to serving the people and doing right in the world. And he's glad that in this case, both he and her are united in their desire to kill this fallen shell of her so-called friend. Though...Sanae would probably wish and hope that this Zero would return after his death. Lu Meng can't deny that he'd rather rub this wolf out of existence, permanently. Some might say he's being ruthless but for him there is no excuse for attacking, wounding his lady, draining her of not just her blood and life, but also her smiles, her giggles, her confidence and happiness.
That, to him, is unforgivable.
"You've got him on the defensive. That's good, but be wary of the vines. He might attempt to attack you now that we're focused on the offence."
