Summary: They're nerds...

[Waking up this morning had been a surprise far from the usual ones. There's no jolting upright, no disturbing Hazel in his sleep, and for once, no sad feelings. He remembers Gi-Gan. Everything about her, from the moment she took him in to the moment he parted, and so much more makes sense now. It makes for a good start to the morning, filling Jae-Ha with hope and energy, and he practically floats around in his morning routine. He has other plans for today, after all, and it's perfect timing!

The next surprise comes when he's watering all of the flowers inside of the house and notices that they've all bloomed enough to look wonderfully beautiful. It's much different than the little sprouts that he'd shown Hazel before, and he delicately touches one of the petals as he considers.

He'd already jumped all around getting things sorted, from little gifts to cute cupcakes waiting in the fridge, so why not start things now before Hazel notices? So, with everything perfectly set in place and the watering can now out of the way...]

Hazel! [He calls out as loud as he can manage in a cheery voice.] Come take a look at this!

[Oh boy, gifts... This gives Hazel a little time to finish his cupcake so he can focus only on these mystery presents when Jae-Ha gets back. Thankfully, Jae-Ha buys him cute trinkets often enough that he doesn't need to spend time getting overly emotional about buying him stuff just to appreciate him. Maybe later.

Anyway, he is a child, so of course he's reaching for the bigger box first. What is it!!]

What've we got here? Should I try shakin' it? [He's not, he'll unwrap it normally.]

[Hazel is cute. The big box is the highest quality leather jacket he could find... Very fancy, very nice. And on top of that, a tie he might remember from their first shopping rendezvous. The smaller box, when Hazel gets to it, is actually just full of little letters that Jae-Ha worked hard to write (some in English, some he had to do in Japanese with what he knows) about how great Hazel is. The very first one is an English note that he'll be trying to do these as much as possible. He's a nerd.]

I wouldn't shake it, or part might go missing. [That tie will slip under something and go unnoticed, he can't have that. But he sees Hazel is behaving, anyway. Jae-Ha will just take this opportunity to lean over Hazel from the back of his chair and watch.]

[Well first of all, he is delighted by the hideous tie, laughing aloud and holding it up while he shakes his head at Jae-Ha. This incredible dweeb... The jacket is very nice and he's going to put it on right now, leaning forward in his chair to wiggle his arms into it and spend a moment fiddling with all the zippers and buckles and clearly unnecessary pockets on it.]

I can't believe ya remembered that tie. [god!! It's dorky!! Now he'll move on to the little box, and as soon as he realizes what these little letters are, he goes quiet again and reaches behind him to feel around for Jae-Ha's hand and squeeze it. This is the part where he gets emotional, ah...]

[Jae-Ha laughs along, and the moment Hazel puts that jacket on, he'll earn a few instant compliments. He really does love Hazel in leather jackets. He is encouraging this habit.

The silence, though, gets a few seconds of quiet from Jae-Ha, as well. He squeezes that hand back, smiling calmly as he leans forward a little over his shoulder.]

Hmm, was that present a little underwhelming? My handwriting wasn't as beautiful as possible, but...

[He's joking, he knows that emotional silence. He's helping Hazel's tsun here, he thinks!!]

[How dare he, this is cute, what the fuck!! Hazel's quiet for another beat before he laughs lightly, turning his head to kiss at Jae-Ha's face and lean his forehead against him. Stop... his sad little heart can't take this.]

It's real nice. You're writin' better.

[That reaction is probably better than any he could have asked for. Hazel looks so sincerely happy, and this affectionate gesture with their foreheads warms his heart just like anything else Hazel does. He smiles fondly, touching his free hand to Hazel's cheek as he appreciates this.]

I want you to read them whenever you need to cheer up and I'm not around. [Hmm, that's too dark in the background there, so he's quick to add—] Not that that happens often. You're free to read them while sitting beside me, as well.

[He's so touched, but he's a grownup so he won't cry. He might get a little watery, but he's handling it. At least this is all just happy feelings, without even a pinch of whatever background sadness Jae-Ha is quick to correct for. He's good!!]

I'll read 'em aloud. I'll even let ya make requests, like a "greatest hits" or somethin'.

[That gets a laugh out of Jae-Ha, and he moves suddenly, scooping Hazel up right from his chair and into his arms. It's romantic.]

I'll look forward to moments like that. But for now, it's time for your own requests. What would you like to do? Shall we soar around the far shore? Relax on a comfortable couch or bed? The flowers can wait, so please pick whatever you'd like.

[Whoa, careful, he could have dumped this box of gay letters all over the floor!! Thankfully he's only holding one when Jae-Ha picks him up, which he tucks into a pocket of his new jacket while he considers. Hmm.]

It's gettin' warmer, wanna go out and enjoy the scenery? [A lake or something. He will wear this jacket.] Then we can play with your flowers, then we'll see.

Our flowers. You helped them grow.

[He's going to stick to that, okay. But that sounds wonderful, so he's already walking to take Hazel upstairs so they can put on real clothes. Or at least Jae-Ha still needs to put on real clothes. And Hazel can keep that fancy jacket on.]

That sounds like a great idea. Let's enjoy ourselves. [Once they're upstairs and in a room, Jae-Ha sets Hazel down on the floor, ducking just enough to kiss his lips chastely.] I'll be just a minute.

[Yeah, yeah... Hazel doesn't respond to that, fiddling with all the extra parts of his jacket again instead. He's having a good time with this awful jacket, so never mind the flower angst...

He probably should put on nicer pants, though. He'll do that.] Wear somethin' nice for me.

[winks......]

[He chuckles at that.] Of course.

[Slipping away just long enough to get changed, he'll put on some nice modern clothes. They're probably ones Hazel picked out for him on a shopping trip before... Jeans, a tight shirt, whatever. He'll wear one of his cute birthday ribbons, too. It only takes him a minute or two to be all set, and then he steps over to Hazel and slips an arm through his to link theirs together.]

Ready?

[Nice tight shirt, he's glad he picked it out. Hazel gives him an appreciative nod, squeezing his arm in a quick little hug. Yay, fake half birthday!!]

Let's walk the way. Remember that place we went to practice playin' with fire that one time? I liked the look of that lake.

[Stroll with him, yes...]

There's no way I could forget.

[Hmm, he remembers that whole time perfectly clearly. With so much revealed about him being a dragon, Hazel was accepting, and there was this feeling in the air that was so difficult to ignore. Jae-Ha is practically buzzing with how happy he looks about it now, keeping their arms joined as he leads them down the stairs. A nice walk. That means more time... He can certainly do that.]

You won't be too warm in that jacket, will you?

[Jae-Ha laughs, bumping their shoulders together in a playful little nudge as he reaches the bottom of the stairs. And then it's to the door, opening it and heading on out.] Though you do look stunning in it.

You're crazy if ya think I'm not gonna wear my new jacket out on the town.

[Or out to the lake... Same thing. He hooks his arm through Jae-Ha's the moment they're out of the house, and their stroll down to this lake is cute and fun, but Hazel definitely has taken the jacket off by the time they get there. It's hotter than even his Texas genes were prepared for...

He'll put it in a nice shaded patch of grass before standing back to survey the lake. Hmm!!]

I'll be honest—I'm gonna try pushin' ya in at least once. [isn't he a treasure]

[It's a cute and fun stroll, indeed. Jae-Ha enjoys every minute of it, slowly walking with Hazel and pausing to pull his arm away as he removes his jacket. They link their arms again, continue, and it feels so light. He's tried many times to describe the way his heart feelings just existing beside Hazel, but he still gets that urge to keep trying. He thinks he hasn't quite nailed it yet.

But there's no need for sap right now, and so he keeps his mouth shut on that part, just talking casually until Hazel makes such a rude admission.]

You must want to be thrown in yourself, if you plan on trying that. Should I get a head start? [He laughs, moving closer to place hands on either side of Hazel's hips, standing just behind him.]

I wanted to admire this view, first.

On my pretend half birthday? Ya wouldn't dare. [Would he... Hazel is quick, he's certain he could get out of the way in time!! He's confident enough in not getting thrown in the lake to lean back against Jae-Ha, reaching for Jae-Ha's hands to tug them all the way around himself. Give him a dang hug.]

Seems like it'll be hot around here for a while. [Perhaps three times as long as usual,] I think it looks better'n the last time somehow, don't ya think?

[Jae-Ha just laughs, like maybe he would, but he won't. Not now, at least. Hazel is too comfortable in his arms, and he gladly pulls him close, watching the lake from over Hazel's head.]

It certainly does. [This heat is going to last forever, too, but that's not so bad. He likes this feeling of each day drawing out and him getting to spend time with Hazel. Something eventful only happens every so often, and usually it's nothing bad, and never lasting.]

And I'm much happier than before, too. [He sways left and then right, just to have a playful motion to do with Hazel wrapped up in his arms like this.] Though you did make me very happy that day. We should come here more often.

[That day, the day of dragonkin... and realizing he's been a horrible person in the past... Hazel thinks about it and says nothing, but hums and squeezes Jae-Ha's arms in this backwards hug. At least Jae-Ha was happy—he's happier with that than bringing up anything he feels less than great about.

So that's fine.]

Ya say that about every place we go to. Then it's that we gotta see more places. We're never gonna have time to rest, except for when ya insist we gotta stay in more.

[Just listen to all of that!!] I think you're agin' backwards and that's how you're gettin' all this energy.

It's amazing how pleasant times will boost my energy. I don't feel so old like this. [He chuckles, squeezing Hazel a little closer still. Honestly, they're so close, he gets more afraid every day, but things seem to be okay. He can't focus on fear. If he runs away from Hazel like he had thought about doing with the pirates, where could he go? What would he do? He can't bring himself to pull away from this. He'd better stop thinking about it before his inner emotional rollercoaster becomes noticeable.]

You're not getting tired of it, are you? [He smirks, nudging at Hazel to take a few steps closer to the water, even as they are.]

[Oh, are they going to wobble down to the water like this... That's fine, he can do that.]

Of your carryin' on? I can't imagine gettin' tired of that. [He's tired of more or less everything besides that, but that's a mood killer of epic proportions, so he'll keep that to himself for now, too. And he's literally tired, always... Whatever, it's lake day!!]

It'd be powerfully borin' without ya.

[Hazel, share these things... Or maybe not. Jae-Ha is always worried about how little Hazel seems to get Real Sleep, but he's very aware that there doesn't seem to be much he can do to help. There's a lot to worry about, a lot that could be better, but they're stuck here, like this.

Either way, it's still a relief to hear Hazel say those words. As they waddle forward slowly, he ducks his head enough to press their cheeks together.]

And here I thought you might be able to relax. [More joking, this time accompanied by a kiss to his cheek before he stands up straight again and squeezes Hazel. He'll stop waddling them forward just before the water, since they're both still in their shoes.

Aside from that, he's quiet. He wants Hazel to enjoy this day however he'd like, so when he wants to do something else, he's sure he'll say. Until then, they can stand in an embrace and enjoy the view. That's not bad at all.]

I'm a lil bit relaxed. [See, he's fine... Today. He is, really, it's a nice day and Jae-Ha is here, and he got him those nice things, and the lake is here...

No complaints!! He's even content to stand here in this backwards hug for a while, watching the water without fidgeting or anything. Or at least for a few minutes, until he wiggles just enough to look up at Jae-Ha. Hello.]

Since it's my pretend half-birthday, I think I oughta be allowed to toss ya in the lake. [hazel,]

[What the fuck, don't look at him like that... Jae-Ha laughs in that sort of way where he's going to lose this no matter what, squeezing Hazel a little extra before loosening his arms to hold them out to the side a little. It's an invitation. Go ahead, toss him.]

Can you even lift me?

[Wow, check this attitude. Hazel raises an eyebrow at him, as it seems that Jae-Ha is the one who has forgotten, this time, that Hazel can teleport him around and not just in the shinki way.

So he'll just teleport Jae-Ha into the lake, that's cool. Bye, lover.] I think I've got it all figured out.
