Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!



Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.



Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

[ I. God Training ]



[ Hibiki has a fancy gold-and-purple folding chair with her today, as well as her umbrella from the beach. She's wrestled the chair into submission, and has the umbrella planted firmly, but is currently in the process of frowning at a fold-up table that just won't behave. ]

How does this...move?

[ Honestly. Where else is she supposed to put all those custom refreshments she'd ordered? ]

[ II. God Training, again, later ]



[ The chair has been conquered and Hibiki's sweets have been obtained. She's sitting off to the side of the training area, teacup in one hand and saucer in the other, having a grand ole time being completely blatant about watching everyone else work. ]

Ridiculous. [ A sigh as she monologues to herself. ] We're already perfect. What need is there for improvement?

[ She drinks deeply from her cup to punctuate this statement. ]

[ III. Equipment ]



[ Hibiki is looking at the practice weapons. Specifically, Hibiki is looking at the swords. And thinking very hard.

Selecting one, she strikes an en garde pose and begins trying it out. There's perhaps a bit too much unnecessary flourishing and brandishing in her form, but she definitely knows what she's about.

She's also fencing her invisible opponent with a perfectly serious expression on her face and no shame whatsoever. This is a completely reasonable way to test out a prop. Anyone with issues is small-minded. ]

Training part II

[ Oh no it's one of these types. There may be a slight twitch in the war god's brow at the moment. ]

Gods we may be but that complacent attitude may cause you more trouble down the line.

[ Ah, their hostess. Hibiki's demeanor smooths over immediately, as is only proper for a Prince in someone else's castle. ]

Your concern is an honor.

[ And yet her butt is still in her seat. ]

[dominatriarch]

[ ...a pause to drink some water from the bottle in her hand. Heavens preserve us. ]

...I take it you know your way around a sword, at the very least?

[ Guess who's going to pop up behind Hibiki right about now? If you guessed "some guy in the idiot box," ding ding ding! ]

Grandma said this: "One that drowns in oneself will eventually fall into darkness."

[ He points upwards at the sky. But if they're already in heaven, is there any point in pointing towards the heavens? Things he'll have to consider. ]

Even perfection can keep evolving, and you'll fall into despair if you can't keep up with the rest.

[ But guess who's not taking his own advice and training, and instead sneaking a Hibi-cooki and tossing it into his mouth? This guy. ]

[ You're welcome to the cookie. Hibiki is not so petty as to begrudge you that. This teacup is all hers, though. It is her only friend. You cannot have it.

She sniffs over said teacup. ] They should be more worried about keeping up with me.

[ She doesn't need to train to improve. She rises to every occasion. Like the Sun itself. ]

[ Who needs other people's friends anyway? He has his own. One guy, and he's in the previous version of Japan, but close enough. ]

Really? Then they must be a long, long way from me, then.

[ Gauntlet status: Thrown. ]

III

[declamando]

[Maria's only just made her way around to the swords, having begun with a more general warm-up, and after taking a moment to observe the swords available for practice, she picks out one that's rather short by sword standards, but still undoubtedly too long to be considered a knife or dagger.

It's while she's making some short, controlled strikes to test its weight that she catches sight of Hibiki's rather...interesting fencing, and she lowers the short sword to her side for a moment to watch.]

Are you sure you wouldn't do better with a genuine practice opponent?

[priforprince]

[ ....Maria swordfights? This is news to Hibiki, and has her wondering whether the Heavens really did send this divine goddess just for her. She plays off Hibiki well in scenes, she sings and dances - Hibiki is looking forward to proof of that - and she doesn't use a sentence ender! How cruel, that she languishes in the care of that agency gentleman. He can't possibly bring out her true talents.

There's that tickle in Hibiki's brain again. An idea is germinating. Someday soon, it shall blossom into a beautiful rose.

For now, however, Hibiki is doing much better than the last time Maria saw her. She finishes her "bout" - thrust - steps back, and tucks the sword beneath her arm. ] No one suitable had presented themselves.

[ This smile says "yet". ] Were you offering?

[As Hibiki finishes up her little imaginary practice, Maria observes her moves, taking note of the style. It looks much more like fencing than anything Maria's seen used in an all-out fight, but if Hibiki's good enough at it, then it might be workable in actual combat. She'll have to see for herself.

Returning the smile with a note of confidence, Maria turns the sword that's in her own hand as if to highlight the short, unusual build of it.]

As long as you don't mind a clash in styles. Fencing isn't the kind of swordfighting I'm accustomed to, with the style of sword I prefer using.

[True, her "style" is more all-out combative than any one thing, but it's still a point that needs making.]

Training, later

Pathetic.

[Lenneth delivers this condemnation with no particular venom or fire; it is a simply-uttered truth, as the goddess turns to look at Hibiki.]

With such an attitude, you are unworthy of your title. A god who is weak is a god who will die.

[ Hibiki blinks but doesn't falter. Just leans forward with her tea a little. ]

Those are rather violent expectations.

[ Sip. ]

Yes. That is life.

[Simple and absolute. Utterly true in Asgard, where the Aesir and the Vanir are ever at odds, and one day soon Ragnarok will pit each against the other to see who triumphs. True on the personal level as well, for the Valkyrie and her Einherjar, who must fight evil and monstrous beings in all their forms as duty. And true here.]

If you intend to simply offer the creatures we must face here your neck, then do so and free up your mantle for someone more deserving.

[Sadly, Natsuru wasn't able to stay in her uniform today, opting instead for simple yoga pants and a tank top. She plans to train, and that took slight priority over looking extra cute and feeling like a princess while delivering the order Hibiki had requested earlier.]

I brought your snacks, Hibiki-sama...

[Covered tray in hand, she blinks and watches curiously while Hibiki wrestles with the table. She's been wondering something for a while now, so there's a hint of a different sort of interest in her eyes when she watches Hibiki move. At least, when she's not awkwardly trying to pretend she's not noticing.]

Um. Can I... help you with that?

[priforprince]

If you can.

[ Hibiki has no qualms whatsoever about stepping aside to let Natsuru have a go. By all rights, she shouldn't have to do this sort of thing herself in the first place. There's no shame in having someone of a more appropriate standing take care of things.

She holds her hands out, in the meantime, for the tray. Very much obliged for this service, mademoiselle. ] Thank you.

[And just like that, all of her curious thoughts fade into the background. She beams happily and nods.]

You're welcome! Oh, and be careful with it. The tea's there too.

[Complete with an actual teacup, and all somehow sectioned by the tray so that none of it got pushed together in transit. She really wanted Hibiki to be happy with everything when it arrived!

It doesn't take her long to figure out the table, either. Compared to Hibiki's struggles, Natsuru has it set up in a flash.]

There you go. Will that be all?

[She's... still in work mode, oops.]

[And here she had just been coming over to look at the daggers again since she's not sure how well her wire will work close range and this is... sure a thing...]

I didn't realize you knew how to use a sword, too.

[She just thought you were a huge show off! Huh.]

[ ...Ah. Hibiki is aware she owes Wendy quite a bit after that. Ah. P.....er...Hara(sigh)juku incident.

Rather than acknowledge this, however, she blinks away the discomfort and tucks her sword beneath one arm as she finishes. ] How else shall I defend my worshippers' honor?

[ This smile indicates she'd duel villains for you. Perhaps it's an apology for completely failing at being a human being earlier.

Or perhaps not. ]

[A laugh bubbles out of Wendy- she can’t even begin to explain why. It’s just that the idea of someone dueling villians for her, a fight for her honor, seems laughable in relation to herself. That’s something for noble ladies, and princesses in fairy tales.]

[But then, Hibiki treats everything like this is some sort of fairy tale, and a lot of girls as though they’re princesses. While it’s super melodramatic and ridiculous most of the time, to the point that Wendy kind of wants to roll her eyes, well, maybe it’s not all bad.]

Would it be at sunrise, if you had to defend your followers’ honor?

[That’s when all the dramatic duels happen, right?]

God Training II

[Dokugakuji appears, shirtless, with a sword resting against his shoulder. He'd been wondering why he was paired with yet another small, child-like person until that comes out of the other god's mouth.]

Means you've already lost a match against me.

[But hey, he's willing to prove the point in combat too.]

[ Hey, she's pretty tall for her age. Hibiki looks over, across her teacup, when she's approached. She agreed to no such bout, so what's all this?

Aside from "erroneous". But she doesn't have enough hours in the day to correct every mistaken soul that crosses her path. Her time is better spent pursuing her own priorities. ]

Seems pointless to engage in it, then.

[ Tea sip. ]

Training II

You must be one of the gods.

[...and one of the ones who took that ridiculous line about gods being incapable of error seriously, for that matter. Scully's stare is extremely dry.

Teenagers.]

[priforprince]

[ Hibiki meets dryness with smoothness, inclining her head. ] Indeed.

Astute of you, madame.

[ ...She might have thought she was perfect even before she got here. ]

[ He watches Hibiki while he weights a gun in his hand. ]

Do you have experience with a sword, God Apollo?

[ Hibiki is in the middle of finishing off her routine, but she inclines her head, keeping her focus on her "opponent". ] Here and there.

[ She has buckled quite a few swashes on the silver screen! ]
