Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

[ Gah!

Yata makes a strangled noise when he spots the person he'd just snapped at on instinct because crap. His defensive irritation melts into confused discomfort instead, hands clutching his plate as he averts his gaze. ]

I'm just hungry!

[It's a very sudden change in demeanour from Maria's point of view, and though she stares at him in some confusion for a moment, he doesn't seem outright scared, and she doesn't think she did anything too offputting.

Maybe it's just that he's awkward around women? Maria can't help an amused smile at the thought, though she doesn't take it too seriously for the moment.]

If you've been training, of course you're hungry, but eating that much is still a risky play.

[ Hahaha ha ha.... Yeah, that certainly couldn't be the case at all, right? ]

What, why? [ He casts a skeptical look at his plate. ] It's not that much.

[ ...Even if it probably is, by other people's standards. ]

[Given Maria can be a bit of a garbage guts herself, much as she might not look it, she seems more amused by the moment as he explains himself.]

It is, actually, though I know some people could finish that easily. But eating in the middle of physical training can do all sorts of numbers on you, can't it?

[ Now he looks surprised. ]

Eh?! It can? Like what?

[ Did he know that before this moment? It doesn't help that he can't remember much, but he doesn't think so? Food is food, right? ]

[...That explains a few things. Maria doesn't look too surprised, admittedly, but she explains with all the patience of a parent trying to get something across to a child discovering some new and unfamiliar consequence.]

It increases the risk of things like cramping if you exercise on a full stomach. It's hardly a huge risk, but it's something most people would prefer to avoid.

Cramping? [ Is that even a thing he's supposed to worry about anymore? I mean, he's dead right? Sorta? Although he still gets hungry, so he doesn't really understand how this works anyway.

He casts his plate a skeptical look once more before finally shrugging. ]

Ehh, I'm sure it'll be fine. Most of my training has been standing still and making funny hand motions so far anyway.

Muscle cramps. They're a bit painful to run into in the middle of something like this. [But he doesn't seem too bothered by the idea anyway, so Maria may well just let him be on how much he eats. It might be that he can handle that sort of thing better than most people anyway.

At that description of training, though, she can't help but laugh a bit.] Practicing borderlines, then? It is still useful training, though, so it's hard to argue with it even if it is a bit silly to describe.

Trying, I guess. [ He sighs, long-suffering, as he reaches out to snag a pastry from his plate and munch on it. ] 'Practicing' would mean I'd be able to do it at all, first.

[Ah, so someone new enough not to know how to do them. Unfortunately, Maria isn't particularly familiar with the process herself, so she offers him a somewhat sympathetic smile.]

Well, once you do get it, it should just be a matter of practice. Getting it is just the hardest part. There are worse situations you could be trying to learn in.

[ Worse situations, huh? ]

Every time I try to cast one, I set things on fire instead.

[ The admission is huffed out in annoyance as he forcefully stuffs another pastry in his mouth.

How's that for worse? ]

[...Alright, that's definitely something, though Maria isn't quite sure what exactly. On the other hand, she only looks surprised for a moment before seeming to adjust to the idea, looking thoughtful instead.]

Is the fire something you could try to control as well? If it's going to burst out like that when you're trying to make borderlines, taming the fire first might work better.

Yeah, I guess. Except it's fire. It's not so easy to tame as that.

[ Although he's spent most of the morning trying anyway. Hence, appetite. Apparently summoning fire burned up energy faster than normal? He doesn't understand how this works. ]

That's just all the more reason to keep trying until you succeed. [There's a more serious note to Maria's tone at that, though there's also something almost encouraging to it as well.]

Once you do get the hang of it, it should give both yourself and your god quite an edge.

[ That gives him pause and he glances back down at his hand once more in sudden intense speculation. ]

You think so?

[ That... might not be so bad, actually, he thinks. He still hasn't met his god yet, but he's not exactly opposed to being useful. ]

[The spark of interest is a little surprising to Maria, but after a moment, she straightens up a little from her place against the table, a more knowing and formidable look on her eyes.]

If it's a power of your own, outside what this place gives to you, then yes. And fire with the right control has to be an asset if you find yourself in trouble.

[Even with some gods, since Maria knows by now not all of them get combative god powers, not even the normal humans.]

Huh.

[ He's actually looking a little intrigued at that, almost anticipating the possibility and it does wonders for his outlook about all this. ]

Maybe you're right. I mean, I still can't control it, but if I can learn that, it might be pretty awesome, right?

[It's rather obvious that the idea of this offers some kind of interest or encouragement to the boy, and Maria offers a slight smile and a confident nod.]

I think it would be. And if it's your power, it only makes sense to know how to wield it properly.

Yeah, I guess.

[ He can't really argue with that logic, after all. ]

I'll keep trying. But someone's gonna get pissed if I burn all their training dummies down.

[That comment is so against the line of the seriousness with which Maria had been taking this that she can't help but laugh a little.]

Well, they did invite all of us here to practice together, and I imagine some gods have destructive powers like that, so I don't think it would be that much of a surprise to them.

You think?

[ Yata scratches his head before glancing back to the training grounds, more intrigued now. ]

Maybe I'll try that, then. I was trying not to break too much shit since I just got here, but if other people are, it shouldn't be a big deal, right?

[ How's that for logic. ]

This is Bishamon's estate, isn't it? Or as far as I know. And she is a war god.

[Hence, a war god is probably more than used to things being destroyed around them. Maria's not so much encouraging the destruction as the learning control over his fire, but if one requires the other...]

If it's for the sake of learning, I'm sure they'll understand.

[ He's pretty sure people aren't actually that chill in reality, but what does he know? He just got here and maybe gods are different? She seems decent enough anyway.

Which has him looking a little embarrassed again as he glances at her from out of the corner of his eye. ]

Yeah, maybe. I guess you could be right. Well, uh. Thanks?

[While Maria does occasionally poke a bit of fun at people who are obviously flustered around her, this guy just seems to be having a bit of trouble with her presence in general, so she just laughs slightly and waves a hand.]

It's no trouble. The better knowledge we all have of our abilities, the better we can work together against our enemies.
