Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.



Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

[Lenneth pauses in her pacing, then half-turns, a motion that sends her absurdly long braid swinging behind her.]

[Yes. That had been addressed to her.]

[The Valkyrie draws her own weapon, though she hesitates for a moment as it clears her sheath. Not because she does not wish to show it -- no, she needs that second to stop herself from reflexively whipping the blade through the air in an arc that would stop it some small distance from the other woman. In this untrained world of gods and Ein--shinki, rather -- she cannot rely on others to trust in her control and their strength.]

[Instead, she holds the blade up sideways, so Reika can see the faint coating on it.]

An ether coating prevents a weapon from breaking.

[At first she's not sure what she's supposed to be looking at, since she doesn't know much about swords, but she can sorta see the coating after a while.]

Depends on what you use it on, doesn't it?

[The ayakashi aren't something she can say she's encountered before ending up here as a god, so it stands to reason that other things change, too.]

What do you fight, normally?

Were this Midgard? Monsters and the undead. [Which undersells some of what she might have been fighting immensely. Some of those creatures are threats to a warrior-goddess; overstating their danger and prowess is difficult if not impossible.]

[Satisfied that her demonstration has served its purpose, she sheathes her sword once more.]

Midgard, huh...? [That sounds familiar somehow. Something she read...? Well, whatever.]

I don't think we're there anymore. Might still be fighting monsters, though, depending on how you think of the ayakashi. Don't think that coating will help much there, since we have to use that special method to defeat 'em.

How do you use that coating, by the way?

It is not used, it simply exists to protect the weapon. The full force of a god's might, whether channeling strength or will, is too much for a weapon to routinely endure without danger.

[As for the special method, Lenneth expects that not every ayakashi will sit back and allow itself to be cleansed from the world. No doubt violence will be necessary to subdue them.]

Oh, makes sense. What's it made of?

[She asks casually, but there's no hiding that she's being pretty insistent about it. "Ether coating" isn't really something that's alike her bio-stabilizer, in fact they're pretty different things, but something about protecting the weapon made the connection in her mind. Might be because the bio-stabilizer is 'protecting' the weapon, in a sense—she uses a kick-based style, after all, her legs could be considered a weapon.]

The sword is steel. The coating is ether. [A simple answer, and if it is useless, blame thew thoroughly-unexamined game concept the fact that she is a goddess of fate and battle, not the forge. ]

[So it's a secret!—is what she assumes. Still, steel sword standing up to monsters means it's potent, right? It's reasonable for that to be a secret. Hell, it's not like she told anyone about her own thing.]

Oh, right. So why do you need one of those to train?

What is to be learned from simply waving blunt weapons at each other? What would one learn if nothing is at stake?

[The Valkyrie is starting to realize that the heavens here have incredibly lax training standards.]

Reaction time...? [Something like that?] Injuries from blunt weapons still hurt, you know?

[Well, anyway.] You do any hand-to-hand?

I am the Valkyrie. Battle is one of my purposes, to train the Einherjar I have Chosen. Though even my own strength and ability grows as I vanquish foes and surmount enemies.

['Training' is just another word for 'battle' to the Valkyrie. Either you win and learn from the experience, or you fail and gain nothing.]

I do not battle with fists, however. I wield bows and swords.

Seems like you're pretty suited to this place. [She's met others who weren't, though, so if she were going to theorize that that's the reason they were brought here, it wouldn't hold water.]

Sounds like a pretty important job, too. [Explains the weaponry; not that she isn't proud of her skills, but there's less chance of hand-to-hand being lethal. Usually, anyway.] This kind of training doesn't seem too useful to you, though.

There is always more to learn, but I do not foresee a challenge here substantial enough for me to learn from.

"Let loose a little"? [The Valkyrie can barely comprehend the statement, and not just because it's slang.] Do you believe the mantle of godhood can be shed based on location? That I can stop being the Valkyrie at a whim?

[Godh— Oh. Huh.] Guess not, my bad. But, uh, did they let you stay as Valkyrie, or are you called something else now?

Your question is not so simply answered. I am the Valkyrie as much as you are yourself. However, this world does not have a mantle of deification for the Valkyrie, though positions for many other Aesir exist. Therefore I have been assigned the mantle of Osiris.

[A god is now another god. See why this is confusing?]

[Seems to her like that would be even more of a reason to slack off, but she gets the part about it being herself and all.]

Guess you're pulling double duty. You okay with that?

[Literally incapable of slacking off. Maybe someday in the future, but at this moment, she's a sword being wielded; there is little she can do but cut.]

There is little difference between the two duties. Destroy the enemies of Heaven, train warriors to stand against those enemies.

[She is also vastly underselling the other parts of godhood, such as answering prayers, out of this attitude.]

Well, that... [... Depends on whether they can agree with Heaven, but if Lenneth considers Heaven her boss, maybe that would be an unwise thing to say.]

I don't know if we're supposed to be training shinki to be warriors. [And if they are, then that's another thing she's been slacking on. Heh.] Seems more like a partner thing, from the looks of it. I guess they've been having trouble with that, though.

[The statement elicits surprise from the Valkyrie. Not much, but even a slight show of it on her face is a great deal from her.]

How else would they aid us in defeating the ayakashi? A partner is of no aid in battle if they sit to one side and observe.

Not that, exactly... I wasn't a god before I came here, so I didn't know how to do it at first, either.

[She did get it explained to her, though, so there's that. Or should have been, if she'd payed enough attention, which it turns out she didn't.]

I don't know how shinki do their thing. Though, I guess that's what this session is for. You're thinking of training your shinki?

We cannot rely on having our shinki in their transformed state at all times. There will be times, perhaps many times, in which two bodies are superior to one. Therefore, shinki must be able to fight.

[She isn't confining this to her shinki, either. The Valkyrie's principles are straightforward and uncompromising.]

Looks like you've thought this out. Well, it would be kinda weird for shinki to be transformed all the time, anyway.

But, y'know, since there's no coating, how are you going to train?

My sword has an ether coating. [Which is really the most important thing. Other gods do not seem to have the strength that divinity ought to come with...] Though if others need that resistance, I can perhaps provide.
