Who: Everyone!
What: Training
When: Morning June 16
Where: Bishamon's temple
Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Use the state of the art equipment
  • Learn about your job
  • Form groups to practice
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

[He frowns, a little disappointed. Well, maybe it's just because of the Ragnarok thing. He's pretty sure that's supposed to have happened in this distant past of his own world or something.]

Hmm. Certain deities and religions seem to be shared between different worlds, but it's doubtful that two separate universes would share the exact same details anyway... what's more likely is that they share some point of origin in their early history that later split off. Or perhaps some "gods" are capable of travelling between worlds, leading to these stories that share so many similarities despite existing in drastically different worlds. [Or they're not gods at all and people simply mistook these dimension travellers as gods, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to bring up that theory around someone who claims to be an actual goddess.]

There is an Odin here, for example, but even if he were the original Odin from this world, it's unlikely he'd be the same Odin you're familiar with.

And neither my sisters nor I are represented here in any form. [The Valkyrie does not even have a mantle here. She knows; she inquired, and was brusquely informed of its lack. This she does not understand, though perhaps it is why they gifted her an unrelated name and portfolio instead of her proper one.] A troubling fact. Your suggestion does not account for the fact that these are not stories -- the gods are real, as is their power.

Valkyrie were mentioned in my research, so I wouldn't say there's no representation at all. They don't appear to be considered full-gods in this world, however, so that much may be true. An example of differences and similarities between worlds.

Stories can be based on real people, can't they? I don't see any conflicts with my theory.

To dismiss the goddess of fate as not even gods... [She is not offended, precisely. What mortals think of her matters little. But it is an irritating and troubling mistake, especially as it seems to have her in the wrong group entirely instead of her proper place...]

[She looks back up at him when he speaks, faint concern in her eyes.]
You misunderstand. The problem is not that they are stories. The problem is that they are abject truths. An Odin here and an Odin in Asgard have not grown from stories -- they are real and concrete people.

[He waves a hand dismissively, sighing.] Stories can also be true, so it still doesn't conflict. Anyway, that's not the point here.

Instead of thinking of it as two separate worlds, think of it as two different versions of the same world. The same people are born under similar conditions, but the events might have played out a bit differently—something happens by chance, someone makes a different choice, something that should've happened doesn't, and so on. Those tiny differences build up over time until you end up with two drastically different versions of the same events.

In theory, anyway. This seems to be a bit more complicated that split timelines within the same universe. It could just be an insane coincidence that your world's gods have similar names and roles to the Norse gods of this world. You'd need to look at all the details much more closely to be sure.

It is not within me to understand. [To wonder, to question, to be curious -- yes, those are within her, though muted as much of her is. Her only purpose is duty, after all, and these questions and confusions only exist because her duty has been badly disrupted by all these changes.] I am not Mimir, who perhaps might know these things. Regardless of the reasons and my questions, I will serve as I must.

I suppose... I still think it'd be interesting to know what those differences are. It could be useful someday.

Henir is a goddess from my own world, but she appears to have played a role in this world as well. Most of the myths and other gods associated with her are nothing I'm familiar with, though. It's a bit strange. [almost like his world just copied a bunch of Norse words and gods at random without putting any thought into it......]

[Lenneth's world wouldn't know anything about that, would it]

[She inclines her head slightly in acknowledgment of the point.]
I have never heard of 'Osiris' myself. Such a god never existed on my world. For me to be put in that role... I cannot think the person who inhabits it matters so long as it is inhabited.

[personal profile] subtract 2017-03-03 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
If I'm remembering correctly, Osiris is a god of the "Egyptian" pantheon. I'm afraid I don't know much more beyond that. [He only bothered to research Norse gods and time-related gods, after all.]

... Hrmm. That may very well be their reasoning for it. [Maybe there really is no logic or criteria behind who ends up a god and who ends up a shinki. If the Heavens have control over it then they might just be grabbing the first soul they find whenever there's need for a god, and the leftovers get stuck as shinki...

As annoying as it would be to predict, it's a plausible theory. He sighs at the thought.]

The reason doesn't really matter so much right now anyway. We've been assigned these positions, so we have to make due with them while we're stuck here.
nibelungvalesti: (sword drawn)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2017-03-03 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Valkyrie herself suspects greater schemings. She has been placed into the role of a god of death and rebirth, after all; it corresponds, if imperfectly, with her true role. And the shinki seem much like Einherjar. Perhaps questions of worthiness and mortal history are involved.]

[She inclines her head in a slight nod, though.]
You grasp the situation admirably. Our duties are clear, no matter our role. Enemies move against the heavens and the mortals under the purview of the gods, and they must be defeated.
subtract: you lose your mind (I-0009)

[personal profile] subtract 2017-03-09 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, he's not exactly thinking of "duty" when he suggests they have to make due... but sure, whatever. Duty and fighting against the ayakashi. Important stuff.]

There's no shortage of enemies of the Heavens here, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding something to do.

[...What else IS there?]

No shortage of enemies and no shortage of gods or shinki who must be trained to battle those enemies. There is almost more to do than one Valkyrie can manage.
