Who: Everyone!
What: Training
When: Morning June 16
Where: Bishamon's temple
Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Use the state of the art equipment
  • Learn about your job
  • Form groups to practice
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

Well it’s not like I’d know right? At least right now. That’s why I want to at least try. And since you seem to know what you’re doing…

[She’s hoping that, if anything bad happens, he’ll at least keep her from breaking her neck, or give pointers, or something.]

It depends. I think some shinki realise their old skills sooner than others. [Still, it seems he's doomed to the role of teacher...or maybe not so much doomed, because it's not like he hasn't been teaching someone else fighting for a little while already.

Might as well start with something basic, anyway. Giving Wendy a calculating look, Shun pushes two of the jumping blocks towards a grassy area off to one side. It's not a mat, but it'll break the fall better than stone.]

You look like you have a good build for it, anyway, so I doubt you'd have much trouble picking it up from scratch. Start with something simple. [By way of demonstration, Shun climbs back up onto one of the blocks, then jumps from one to the other with a forward flip, going between the furthest edges of the two blocks with how much closer he moved them together for Wendy.]

It's a hell of a lot easier when you have some momentum behind you - the movement should feel natural. Use your speed and weight to make the flip.
nopixiedust: (insovereign) (Nope I went the fuck home like)

[Hey, he could always say ‘no’, right? Wendy is keeping her expectations low here, but she won’t lie that it’s a bit of a relief when he starts pushing the blocks to the grassy areas. Carefully, she watches his form and takes note of it before nodding.]

That makes sense. Alright then..

[With a hop, she pulls herself up onto the block and takes a breath. Speed and momentum… She shifts her foot on the block beneath her, feeling the way her muscles shift as she presses back and forth on the balls of her feet. Yeah, this feels familiar somehow... She just has to find out how familiar.]

[As it turns out, very familiar. Without even thinking about it, she tucks her body in as she leaps and flips forward, a natural roll through the air, and manages to get a perfect landing. The only downside is the wobble after, although that’s more from her surprise than anything else.]

Oh. Well I guess that answers that.

[Jumping off the block after he's done, Shun moves a little to one side. Wendy probably needs her space for something like this, but at the same time, if something goes wrong he wants to be close enough to intervene. There wouldn't be much point to supervising otherwise.

There's something about her movements even before she actually takes the leap that strikes him - someone feeling out something they haven't done for a while, or at least that's the closest reference point he has for it. His suspicion is confirmed when she does actually take the jump, because if nothing else, it's absolutely obvious that this isn't a new skill for her. It's not even an unpracticed one, and at the perfect form bar the little wobble at the end, Shun raises his eyebrow in what might be a begrudgingly impressed look.]

It does. That's not the form of someone new to acrobatics. [But then, as far as he's concerned, that's as far as they need to go down that road with her being a shinki.] I still wouldn't advise jumping right into complex moves, but once you feel things out and cover the basics again then you should easily be able to pick up everything else. It's just a matter of finding what you're instinctively familiar with.

[It feels good to have something familiar again. Wendy hasn’t… hated all the things she’s had to get used to since arriving in this afterlife- the technology, the fashion, the food, even her very role in the rest of the world. Sometimes it’s been strange, she’s had to get used to it, but it hasn’t been bad, necessarily. But it’s…. Overwhelming. That’s the word. Too much, all at once.]

[But just moving through the air, feeling the impact of her feet landing on something after the rush of a jump, that makes her feel alright again, and she seems more at ease as she looks up at Shun.]

Mmm, probably a good idea. Make sure you can walk before you run, right?

[Sure, she feels like she can do just about anything, but, well, no need to risk snapping her neck here.]

It’s a shame there aren’t- you know- [Her hands flutter through the air in vague gestures.] -bars or something to leap onto. Variety, I guess.
revolutionfalcon: (distinctly unthreatened)

Exactly. Enthusiasm is one thing, overconfidence is another. [Given Shun himself has thought more than once about how frustrating the experience of being a shinki must be, he has to imagine that finding something you can do and have maintained through that loss of memory is grounding. But the dangers of overconfidence are more than familiar to him by this point, and as such, he's rather serious when discussing the topic.

Glancing around the area, Shun turns a little to survey what it is they do have to work with here.]

Maybe not, but there's probably other things you can test it with that aren't those blocks. [After a moment, he points out a balance beam back on the stones they'd moved away from initially.] Something like that would be better for control, if you tried using your skills to cross it rather than just walking.
nopixiedust: (insovereign) (I'll always be here to give you)

[personal profile] nopixiedust 2017-02-28 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that…. I could definitely try that, I think.

[It’ll be something new to do anyway, right? And if she gets a little roughed up- well, it’s training. What else are they supposed to do? Smiling and visibly a lot more relaxed, she looks back up to him.]

So are you just going to go back to jumping around then?
revolutionfalcon: (hell if i know)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-02-28 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[It seems like she's much more confident in the idea now, at least, though Shun looks down at her with his usual slight frown even if she does look more at ease. When it comes to the question, he shrugs, glancing back towards the rest of the training area.]

This is only a segment of the training I was planning to do today. I haven't even been near the weapons yet. [Probably not a reassuring statement from most people, but at least Shun sounds professional about it.] Is there a reason you're asking?
nopixiedust: (insovereign) (I'll always be here to give you)

[personal profile] nopixiedust 2017-03-03 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Just curious. I guess I should leave you to it, then.

[Shun has struck her as the kind of guy to be professional about this kind of thing, and she doubts he cares for being deterred from practice for long.]

Try not to overwork yourself too much, even if it seems like the only thing you like.
revolutionfalcon: (about time)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-03-03 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
[There's just about no time Shun will turn down someone letting him get back to what he was doing, so he inclines his head slightly at the suggestion. However, any approval doesn't last any longer than the follow-up, at which point Shun shoots Wendy a rather unimpressed look.]

I don't overwork myself. [Clearly if he was overworking himself, he'd be passed out by now.] Don't do yourself any damage figuring out what it is you can really do.
nopixiedust: (sillica) (Answer my text you professional)

[personal profile] nopixiedust 2017-03-05 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
[A snicker gets poorly hidden behind one hand, and she turns away while waving her other hand.]

Of course you don’t. Don’t worry, I’ll be careful!
revolutionfalcon: (you'll live this time)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-03-05 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[As obvious as it is that he's being made fun of, Shun's too used to that sort of thing to give any more of a rise than a sigh of annoyance.]

It's your loss if you don't. [Clearly there was never any implication of worry.]
