Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!



Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.



Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

Nanako giggles softly and nods her head. ]

I wanted to see how my shinki was doing. He's new.

And yeah! I'm okay. I was training, too. Or trying to.

Oh, I see! Who is he? I've been practicing a little myself, but if he needs a hand with any shinki magic, I'd be happy to help him out.

[If nothing else, he'll need to make sure that Nanako's shinki is someone who can be trusted to look after her. She may be very independent and mature for her age, but her age is younger than ten -- and someone older should be keeping an eye on her.]

His name is Sumio! He's over there.

[ She whispers this conspiratorily even as she peeks around the tree trunk she'd been hiding behind, pointing out one particular shinki with bright green hair. ]

I'll have to say hello to him later.

[He doesn't seem to be doing that badly, Hakkai notes. Or, at least, he's not blowing himself up or waving around a weapon in a way that's likely to hurt someone else, and that's a plus!]

How are you getting along so far?

[ Nanako agrees, those are definite pluses. ]

I like him, he's nice! He laughs and smiles a lot. [ That's important to her; she wants him to be happy here. ] He doesn't mind that I'm his god, either.

Well, that's good! That he's happy, I mean. I can't imagine why someone would mind having you as a god.

[Well, other than wanting a god who would run the household for them, but in Hakkai's opinion that's a shinki's job anyway.

He can admit he may have some personal bias there.

Since he's thinking about it, he may as well ask...]

I hope he's helping out properly around the house? Or, ah, temple.

[ She looks distracted for a moment, gaze automatically drifting back to where the other gods were training with a slightly wistful expression. ]

I can't do as much as some of the other gods can. I'm not sure I'm very good at it yet.

[ the question has her blinking and she glances back to consider before nodding with a smile. ]

Yeah! He even helped me with my chores!

Some of them have been here much longer than you have! And you're still young, too.

[Hakkai raises one finger, adding, in his best sensible-and-teacherly tone:]

But all of the new gods are still learning, after all. I'm glad he's helping out.

Yeah. [ She doesn't sound so convinced, scuffing a toe against the grass for a moment. ] There's a lot to learn.

He is. [ At least her shinki is something that's reliable in bringing a smile to her face. ] He's working hard today, too. What about you? How was your practice?

Ha ha, well, I've been working hard too! [She does seem happy with her new shinki, Hakkai notes, glancing at her brighter smile. Maybe he's putting in the proper amount of work after all.]

I'm working on controlling my magic.

Is that hard? [ She leans forward, curious about any of the magic the others here can use. ]

It takes a lot of concentration!

[She's leaning forward with wide-eyed curiosity. Hakkai curves his hands together, summoning a small, cool ball of energy between his palms, and holds it out for her to see.]

Ha ha, and it needs good aim, too. I can throw these.

Whoa!

[ Nanako watches in amazement. ]

That's really cool! What kind of magic is that?

Hmm... I suppose I'd have to say "youkai magic." I'm concentrating my own body's energy.

[He presses his palms together, letting the little sphere dissolve, and smiles cheerfully at her.]

There's at least one other person here with a similar skill. And quite a few who use different kinds of magic, too!

Youkai?

[ She echoes his answer with a widening of her eyes, head tilted to the side as she watches him disappear the spell once more, looking thoughtful. ]

I met someone who could do magic at the beach. And I was watching some of the others practice it today, there was a lot of magic.

Yes, that's what I am. We mostly look like humans, except for these-- [He reaches up to bend the points at the ends of his ears forward.] -- and these. [This time, it's his carefully filed-blunt claws that he displays for her to look at. They're still sharp enough to tear through flesh if he needs to fight barehanded, but he'd put too many holes in perfectly good shirts to stand leaving them unblunted.]

And there are some powers that we have that humans don't, too.

[ He's not the first person she's met here with his ears pointed like that, although now that he's brought it up, she leans forward with a faintly curious expression. ]

Are you an elf?

[ But the sight of his claws draw a soft sound of surprise as she leans forward even further with wide eyes, fascinated. ] Whoa! Those look sharp.

[ She pauses, looking thoughtful then. ] Do those help you fight?

Sometimes, but most of the time they just get in the way! Ha ha.

[He turns his hand palm-up, holding it out in case she's curious about his claws. Since they've been filed blunt, she won't be able to accidentally scratch herself on them.]

I'm youkai, not an elf.

[ She carefully leans in to look, then glances up at his face when he comments about that. ]

I guess it would be hard to do some things if they're sharp like that, huh?

[Hakkai lowers his voice to an embarrassing-confession tone, and admits:]

I kept tearing my shirt when I tried to button it!

[ Her mouth drops open before she pauses to consider this Very Serious Problem. ]

Maybe you could try zippers!

[Hakkai chuckles, and presses one of his claws against the pad of his thumb to demonstrate the fact that they're no longer slash-fabric-accidentally sharp.]

I didn't think of that! I just used a nail-file.

But if I need to sharpen them back up again, I'll be sure to buy some zippered shirts first. Thank you for the idea.

[ She smiles brightly, happy to be of help. Whether he'd been serious or not. ]

[It's a practical idea and he might try it if he wants to really startle people sometime. He returns her bright smile.]

Weeeell.... [ Her smile fades a little at that. ] I still haven't figured out what my god power is. I'm supposed to figure it out, but I haven't yet.

But one of the gods did help me get better at transporting! We played tag. And I found someone else here who was from the same pan... panther...[ She's already forgotten the word, oops. ] ...family as my god. He was nice, too.
