Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

I wanna help him, sure. [Ken scratches the back of his neck.] Just didn't think I had to worry about anything being able to happen to a god, byon.

[These revelations clearly startle him, however, and he stares at Chikusa.] Feelings can hurt gods? [The vanishing is...alarming, definitely, and it puts Ken into a rather defensive mode that has quiet tension running through every limb. But while it's news, it's at least news that makes sense. Emotions being able to hurt gods is confusing news, and he needs that clarified first.]

Ours can. Because.... we're connected by the names he gave us. So he can sense those kind of things.

And if they're negative... They can bother him, or hurt him. So don't be reckless.

[Things he is already starting to realize: Ken might not have an idea of any other way to literally be]

How come they hurt him and not us? [Ken's still not sure how this works. Feeling negative emotions...well, it kind of feels like it hurts, but not in any solid, quantifiable way. (Ken doesn't really comprehend or recognize the psychological scars he's been left with. He just sees how he feels, how he reacts, how he is as being just...himself, rather than his self being the product of his experiences. His point of view is too focused on the present and the immediate to look back at a chain of events and see how they inevitably lead to a result.) But that's with his own feelings. It's hard to imagine someone else being hurt by the way he feels. And not just feeling hurt, but being actually hurt. (Ken also doesn't recognize that physical damage isn't the only 'real' damage.)]

What happens when a god gets hurt?

It’s something stupid and old….

[Enlightening. Truly. After a second, however, Chikusa sighs and nudges up hi glasses again. Did they really need adjusting? Probably not.]

Shinki are supposed to act as consciences for the gods… or were… Feeling guilty hurt them to let them know boundaries…

If a god gets hurt enough… probably like anything else, they’ll end up dead… So don’t do anything that will trouble Axel-sama like that.

Oh. [None of that makes much sense to Ken, although it's less that he doesn't follow what Chikusa's saying and more that he doesn't see the point behind it all. But there's plenty of stuff he doesn't understand, and he knows how to shrug off not understanding all the whys and hows that aren't really important. (Or at least they're not important to him.)

Usually he's fine so long as he knows how things are. Context is where things get complicated and hard to follow.

He considers the matter for a few moments, then shrugs.] I don't really feel guilty much, byon. [The only thing he can think of that would make him feel bad, off the top of his head, would be hurting Axel...and if he can only hurt Axel by feeling guilty, that probably means he's safe, right?]

[Chikusa considers this. It’s not that he doesn’t believe Ken- he doesn’t feel guilty for much himself unless he thinks he’s hurting Axel. It’s just that, while this works for the best, he wasn’t expecting it.]

….Good. Do you want to know anything else about being a shinki…?

[Ken considers this, then shakes his head. The things Axel had covered with him, Chikusa's mentioned too, but Chikusa's gone a bit further.] What else is there to know, byon? [There's a touch of a whine in his voice. There's so much stuff to know. to have to remember. It's all complicated and it's a pain.]

A lot. [But before Ken can suffer too much-] But... I'm Axel-sama's first shinki... so I'll know everything since you can't.

[Ever so slightly, his chin tucks in a little and his head shifts to the side- he's really pleased about being Axel's exemplar. It's perhaps the one good thing that's come out of another shinki arriving on the scene. It's not really a title that means much with just one, is it?]

[Ken huffs.] What's so great about you dying before I did, byon... [This is a sulky mutter. Just as Chikusa's being first gives him some measure of pride, Ken's being second is inspiring a measure of jealousy for Chikusa's position.]

It means I have more experience, so I know more and am better at it then you....

[...Probably. Still a faint concern that for all he's an obvious idiot, Ken's best skills are purely in the realm of combat. If that's how it is, Chikusa thinks he can be fine with this.]

It means you sucked more than I did when you were alive because I lived longer, byon! [Ken, that isn't even remotely how it works, but nice effort.]

It looks like you barely lived longer considering the time difference between my death and yours... So is that really anything to be proud of....

How's it make any more sense for you to get special treatment 'cause you died first, shitty four-eyes? [And Ken sticks out his tongue at him, an action which admittedly requires little provocation. Sometimes Ken does that for no reason whatsoever, in fact.] How's that prove you're the best one, byon?

[Clearly Ken sees Chikusa's being Axel's exemplar as some kind of challenge. Or competition.]

[Up until this point, if asked about competing for his god’s attention, Chikusa would probably look incredibly weary at the very idea. That sounds like an awful lot of work, after al. However, now that it’s happening…. Suddenly, he has absolutely zero desire to lose, and his horrendous slouch actually straightens itself out a little at the challenge in Ken’s voice.]

I wasn’t the one who got hit in the face with a yoyo….

I'm not the one who is a yoyo, byon! [Ken says this like he's won the debate, even though for all he knows, he turns into something even more ludicrous.

(He does, although on a different metric of ludicrous.)]

[And for this, there's the barest of positioning of his head that still, for Ken, will make it clear he's looking down on him. This, he has a comeback for.]

Axel-sama has already found reason to use him twice, and I was perfectly useful both times.

[And Axel's opinion is the one that matters.]

I only just got here, byon! I'll be useful too, just watch! [Ken almost visibly puffs up.]

You better be. Axel-sama deserves good tools.

[And, if nothing else, he'll accept Ken's uses there.]</msma

Pssht, you're enough of a tool for the both of us, byon.

[Ken mutters this under his breath, but not so quietly that Chikusa can't hear it. It's actually a passable insult, at least in terms of delivery...or it would be, probably, if being a tool for Axel wasn't a good thing in both their estimations. While Ken's meaning is clear enough, context has it falling a bit flat despite his best efforts.]

[Yeah... Not quite the right time. Chikusa quirks up an eyebrow.]

Does that mean you're not needed, then?

[WHAT NOW, KEN]

[Ken's mouth opens, then closes. Then he bristles like a porcupine to the point where it's a wonder he's not channeling one. That one hit a button.]

Shut up! If I'm not needed, then why'm I Axel-sama's shinki, huh?! Maybe you just weren't enough, byon!

[That one's likely to hit a button, too.]

[Chikusa doesn’t bristle, but he does twitch into tenseness, eyes narrowing. There can’t be any doubt that his button’s been pressed as well.]

I’m more than you.

[....Right? Right Axel? Poor Axel- Chikua’s insecurities are going to be biting at him again. And they were doing so well, too.]

[Ken counters this with a punch, because of course he does. And then he pounces on Chikusa immediately afterwards, because obviously the best way for a meeting of new shinki partners to go is to fall into snarling and scuffling.]

[So. That happened.]

[Chikusa could dodge the punch, but honestly his scuffle with Hibari earlier has tired him out, so instead he just takes it, hitting the ground and immediately curling up to minimize any further damage as Ken leaps onto him. While his body shakes from the impact, there’s no other reaction to being attacked.]

[....Well, there’s an annoyed sigh but that’s it.]

So troublesome...

[The lack of reaction both confuses and disappoints Ken, enough so that after having borne Chikusa to the ground, he mostly just sits there on him, still huffy and bristling but not actually attacking further. It's more than just a generalized animalistic distaste for mauling something that's not even trying to offer resistance; it's that he's intelligent enough to realize that if Chikusa doesn't care that Ken's beating him up, then what the hell is Ken accomplishing by doing so?

Although some would likely disbelieve it, Ken is a number of steps up from a dumb animal.]

Take it back, byon. [He scowls down at Chikusa. But the violent aggression's been bled out of him surprisingly fast.]
