Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.



Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

I don't usually. I'd use my bare hands but I can't touch ayakashi without them blighting me.

[It's a source of frustration, of course. Not only did losing Axel deeply hurt on a personal level, it was a huge loss on a practical one, as well. It's ridiculous that of all seven shinki she'd had since coming here, only one had a vessel form she could effectively wield in battle. Hibari's form, the brief moment she saw it, had potential but he's not her shinki anymore. She'd managed well enough with Yamato the brief time she'd had him but a full size katana isn't ideal for her.]

Axel used to ignite pebbles and throw them. I've been curious if the principle could be applied to close combat as well.

[Listen, Ayumu.... Everything can be a weapon if you're murderous enough.]

[He listens to her reasoning with careful interest, head tilting just so at the idea.]

If it's metal... Than it might heat up and injure you instead, right...?

[She gives a little shrug. It's clear from her expression that she's not too concerned about potentially hurting herself.]

If I get burned, I'll treat the injury. I could use the practice there, too. Besides, managing pain is an important skill as well.

And you’re going to do that every time you need to use it…

[Chikusa's right and she knows it but Ayumu's stubborn and proud and doesn't want to admit that maybe she didn't think through the whole using a metal knuckle part nearly enough. So she sighs and slips the knuckles off.]

I guess I should think this over some more first.

[She turns back to the table, looking it over once more.]

A different weapon would probably be more practical. Maybe I should try it with a wakizashi instead. It has a grip and more reach anyway.

[No, she's not okay, Chikusa.]

Reach is definitely more preferable…

[He guesses he’s a part of this process now, and he thinks carefully over the line of weapons that have been laid out in offering.]

Have you thought of something that you can throw…?

Yes, I have. I usually don't need an object for that.

[She's been constructing darts out of pure flame since her first day on this job. And of course, she's well-versed with throwing projectiles. Axel's form when he'd been her shinki had been a trio of kunai.]

But these would work well for that.

[Almost absently she points to several weapons in quick succession: a shuriken, a kunai, and a chakram. The last one isn't a weapon she's used herself but she saw Axel with a pair of them once and it seems sound.]

I'm looking for something to use in case I can't put enough distance between myself and an opponent to throw. It's important not neglect training for close quarter combat as well in case projectiles fail.

[Her thoughts stray to her fight with Axel in ayakashi form. If another ayakashi caught her projectile and closed in on her the way he had, she might be killed again in a similar fashion. She supposes one upside to remembering that horrible incident is learning how to correct the mistakes that led to her death.]

….If it’s an ayakashi…. I think by that point it might be too late in most cases.

[What’s dangerous with ayakashi, after all, isn’t any way they can lash out, but their very being- the blight that spreads from them. Still, he looks a bit unsure, frowning slightly. Close combat isn’t his specialty, as shown by how he has to keep running away every time Hibari even just… exists.]

[...A bigger threat than any ayakashi, honesty.]

Maybe. It's hard to anticipate your enemies sometimes. There's times when they're someone you might never expect.

[Ayumu's experienced at being that kind of enemy. And for a very brief time, she'd faced against an enemy who'd once been someone very precious to her. Vigilance is important because danger can exist anywhere.]

But ayakashi come in all kinds of shapes and sizes and not all attacks are meant to kill. Some are meant to distract an opponent and nothing more.

[Shurikens and throwing knifes in general were made for that purpose. Hitting a moving target isn't as easy as it looks and the odds of being able to throw a knife with enough force to kill are extremely slim.]

I wonder if there are any known poisons that harm ayakashi...

[It might be something else worth looking into, she thinks.]

I spoke to Hakkai-san earlier today. Those things I said I was thinking about teaching you before, well, I've decided to start training pupils at his school. In exchange for the space, I'll be assisting him with the cleaning and upkeep of the grounds. It may be a good opportunity for you to learn a great deal.

[Not just about ninjutsu but domestic duties as well.]

Soon. Probably within the next few weeks. I'll be going shopping soon to look for materials I'll need. It'll take me a little while to get the classroom set up but once I'm ready, I'll contact you about starting lessons.

[Ayumu already has the two of them pegged down completely. With Axel, indeed, this isn't much of a surprise. Of course he wouldn't really be ordering Chikusa around much- everything the teenager does, it's of his own accord.]

I wanted to be on hand for him.... But I suppose that's unnecessary now....

[It's not explicit, but with the focus he's now giving the shuriken, there's definitely a hint he's not happy with what's behind that statement.]
