Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

[ Demyx laughs heartily and audibly at that little comment about that old god, patting Sakon on the shoulder as he does so. ]

Just like my god!

[ Maybe that kind of life doesn’t suit Sakon, but it suits Demyx just fine. Hell, if he had a guitar or some other musical instrument at home, he’d probably never leave the temple and be perfectly okay with that. His only regret or complaint is that they don’t talk; that they don’t appear to be friends, just... people who exist in the same space from time to time. But honestly, a loudmouth like the blond would probably slip right under his god’s skin in a matter of sentences anyway, so maybe it’s for the best.

Anyhow, needless to say, he isn’t here because Kija asked him to be; Kija hasn’t asked him to do anything, really. Not yet, at least. No -- he’s here because Riku told him he can’t keep running away; that eventually, the monsters will catch up. He’s got to learn to protect himself, because Riku won’t always be there with blade in-hand to strike them down and save the helpless, hapless shinki he was. (Or is. Opinions may vary.) ]

That sounds kinda intimidating! [ Multiple shinki? Having to compare to them? He’s way too much of an underachiever for that! ]

Who’s your new god, anyway?

Um.

[He's heard her give different names to different people, but he's pretty sure the one she gave him to use is the real one. Still, he should probably identify her by her god name instead of her personal one, since she seems to be trying to keep that one under wraps.]

Vesta...? Vesta, yeah. It's her me and Ross right now, but I know she's had a bunch of shinki before us.

[He doesn't know Ross particularly well, but he did try to get to know Hibari while he was with them. Which didn't last. Which is a shame because Hibari had a cute dog. Priorities.]

Hmm...

[ He scratches his cheek in thought for a moment before relenting with a cavalier sort of shrug. ] Nope! Never heard of her.

[ And no one is surprised. ]

But can shinki just come and go like that...? I thought a god was like, permanent. Y'know?

Yeah, if gods, um, disappear or whatever it is they do, their shinki have to go somewhere. We can just leave on our own, too! Or gods can ditch us, I guess, which is awful. I mean, I feel sorry for whoever that happens to.

[He crosses his arms and nods to himself as he talks.]

I think you can, uh, go off on your own, too? But I don't know how that works and people get kinda upset about it.

[ If a god leaves, that’s one thing. Obviously by now Demyx has seen the fallout of that enough to know how it works. But what about gods that don’t leave?

...Wait a sec -- gods can ditch them? He’s surprised Kija hasn’t done that already, if so. While on one hand, that knowledge is now reassuring, no matter what Eno or anyone else says Demyx still can’t quite fully shake the notion that his god just plain doesn’t like him. They don’t talk; don’t pal around like other gods and their shinki do. More than that, though -- Kija doesn’t even call on him at all.

Part of him is glad for that, since a vacation is a vacation, right? And he’s totally not comfortable with fighting! But he could be a powerful shinki, if he tried! Maybe even useful! But... ]

We can leave on our own?

[ This might give him an out. To the later comment, however, he purses his lips thoughtfully and squints. ] Why would people be upset about that? If it’s for the best and stuff...

I dunno...

[Sakon's brow furrows slightly as he thinks that over. To be honest, the idea is so alien to him that it's kind of slid off his brain any time someone gets talking about it. He's the sort who's loyal to his last breath, so he can't imagine why anyone would just leave, especially in the way that meant you were a stray who didn't belong to any one god.]

I mean, I'd never do it, so I don't really get it at all...

[ To many, many shinki, it’s easy to imagine that the god-shinki relationship is sacred, like the bonds of marriage -- except, without the possibility of divorce. And, knowing that “divorce” is a possibility does make Demyx feel reassured by the knowledge that Kija could have, would have released him by now if he truly wants him gone.

But that only leads to further muddled thoughts. And, Demyx being Demyx, he’s in no particular hurry to sift through them. Not when it’s easier to toss them to the wayside and focus on things that are more fun.

Needless to say, however, that he doesn’t feel as though he’d be a stray; or at least, he’s not frightened by it, for once. He’s got friends here, even beyond Sakon -- like Eno and Kairi, Sora, Sorey, and Dana! And he doesn’t like fighting, so he’d be running from any ayakashi that try to hunt him down anyway, so he’d be fine! Right? But if going off on his own is going to make people upset, well... that changes things. ]

You’d never do it, ever? [ Demyx can respect that, even if his loyalty is not nearly so fierce. ] Man, your god is lucky to have you!

I hope she thinks so!

[He's not going to brag and say "She sure is!" because she's said nothing of the sort to him. She hasn't...really said much of anything about how she thinks he's doing, which is why he's got to do his best to impress her.]

Man, she's gotta! You're awesome!

[ He pats Sakon's shoulder again, heartily. ]

You're lively, you can fight with those swords, and now you can draw borderlines, too! What god wouldn't like you?

[ His expression is bright and chipper, even as he glances away for a moment. ] Someday, I want a god to like me like that, too.

What? Does your god not like you?

[Sakon looks baffled, like the idea that such a thing could be possible hasn't even occurred to him.]

[ To that, Demyx can only shrug helplessly. ]

Dunno. He hasn't said anything at all since we met, man. Kind of a bummer...

Nothing at all?!

[Sakon jerks back, shocked.]

Have you tried to talk to him? Is he just ignoring you?

[ Arms outstretched, Demyx shakes his head. Though he's not quick to admit it, it's partly his fault. He could initiate more conversation, try to befriend him... but he's always so quiet! It's awkward! ]

We live together! You'd think he'd like, say hello or something, right?

If he doesn't say hello, then you gotta say hello! Some people are just shy!

[Sakon, in a similar position, would probably have talked the poor guy's ear off whether any sort of response was forthcoming or not.]

For being shy, he sure knows a lot of people. You have to talk to people to make friends, y'know.

[ But they all say the same thing, don't they?

Still, Demyx's expression turns a little wry. ]

So is that what happened with your god? Well, maybe not this one, because you're new to her, right? But... yeah.

Hm? Nagisa was a bigger chatterbox than I am.

[Which is saying something.]

As for, uh, Vesta, she's kinda a quiet one sometimes, yeah, so I keep at it! It just takes time with some people, that's all.

[He doesn't have much experience to go on, sure, but it seems to be working for him so far.]

[ He called himself a chatterbox. Adorable. Also, relatable. Not to mention, he’d love to meet someone who talks more than Sakon! ]

You keep talking to her? Like, even if she doesn’t say anything?

Wow, that’s some crazy persistence!

[ Demyx would be quicker to take it personally. (For someone who has no ‘feelings’ per se, his sure appear to get hurt awfully easily...) ]

Yeah! I'm sure it's just because she keeps a lot to herself! I mean, not like Hibari who threatens to kill me every time I talk to him. It's too bad he didn't stick around...

[Those two things don't seem like they should go together, but in Sakon's head, they apparently do...]

Whoa, you had a guy who threatened to kill you just for talking? That's rude!

[ That should be familiar to Demyx, but... nope! Drawing a blank, here. But he'd definitely want to be away from that person, for sure! ]

Wait -- you wanted him to stay?!

Yeah! I mean, he was just kinda grumpy that's all. It was kind of cute.

[One wonders about Sakon's self-preservation instincts.]

[ Apparently he doesn't have many... ]

Grumpy's one thing... but trying to kill you?!

[ Sakon, please don't get yourself killed. ]

Well, it's not like he managed to do it!

[So that makes it okay, apparently.]

Still! [ Demyx winces visibly and waves his hands in front of him. ]

Man, I dunno how you managed! I'm not comfortable being around someone like that, even if they don't kill me! The threat's enough!

[ Besides, they say it's 'make love, not war'! Right? ]
