What: Someone's got a new god, and this might be a disaster


[It sucked waking up to the only god you really know being gone. All that's left to remember Simon by was a bag of random belongings and a cactus. A cactus Nari hadn't been able to ever give his god after finding it on his trip to Mexico. In retrospect, maybe this was a cursed cactus.

Being homeless doesn't even last that long when Nari finds himself waking up on a unfamiliar beach.

Then again, all beaches are unfamiliar.

This has to be a temple of a god he's definitely never met before. He hasn't met any gods of the beach and surf, and this place does not look colorful pony with wings and a horn friendly. Maybe it was Davesprite's place?... no, not Egyptian enough. How does that make sense?

Ah well. At least it's better than camping out. Now he's left to wonder what his new god is like. Better not be a dork.]

[Sora is up that morning rather early for once because he woke up with a pretty bad dream. No- not a dream. A vision of a violent death that wasn't his own. A shinki...

So he does his best not to jostle Roxas awake but scrambles out as fast as he can. He peeks his head out of one of the upstairs windows and then makes his way downstairs and outside all while still in his pajamas.

But it won't be Sora who runs up to the shinki first, it's Wan. The fat cat dog goes bounding for Nari at extreme speed and Sora follows afterwards.]

H-Hey! Are you okay?

[It was turning out to be an okay morning till some strange thing comes barreling at him. First response is to get up, and his second is to grab the cactus and brandish it like a weapon and get out of the way of the thing.]

What the hell are you?!

[It's like some toy store abomination come to life! A moment later he looks over what he hopes is that critters owner.]

What is that thing?

Wan! Come back here, you pudge!

[It seems as soon as Sora shouts at his companion he stops. He blinks with strange eyes at the shinki and then boofs loudly at him before trotting back towards Sora.

Sora scoops him up pretty quickly.]

Sorry, this is Wan my dream eater. He won't hurt you, I promise!

[Wan? Dream eater? What the fuck is going on. Why can't today be a nice and normal day.]

... I'm gonna pretend I know what you're talking about. That Won thing better not attack again.

[Else Nari will unleash prickly hell.]

[You're in the Kindgom Hearts verse now, Nari. Nothing will ever be normal ever again.]

Wanwan- you know, like the sound effect dogs make in manga comics. [Sora, not everyone is gonna pick up on that, you weirdo.]

He really wasn't attacking you he was just trying to say hello. He's really nice!

No. I don't know what a manga even is. [Webcomics or nothing.] And if that's his hello, I don't wanna see his goodbye.

... Nari Reno. [So is Sora a shinki? Where was Nari's god, and when would it be time to get settled in.]

[Sora pouts at his pet who in return makes a meowing noise. Look what you did Wan, now Nari is never going to like you.]

Uhh!! It's nice to meet you, Nari. You're here because I'm your new god, right? Come on, I can show you the rest of the temple! There's a few rooms you can pick from for your bedroom too.

[This is definitely the boy he saw in his awful vision.]

[Nari, you talk really, really weird. What is Joshing??? Sora looks half puzzled and half offended, but he's not really sure if he should actually be offended or not??]

How the fuck do I know? Apparently this place has a queen, so there is clearly no democratic process to be had that would encourage someone to practice their civic duty of voting. It's a monarchy, though maybe it should be considered more of an oligarchy since there is a small governing body presiding over us.

[Nari gives Sora a blank stare.] I'm a shinki. Ya think I would remember that?

[Wan barks again.] Well you do sort of look like a dumpling, Wan...

[Then Sora just stares and blinks at Nari because he tries to listen to most of that but it all starts to blend into one run on sentence that Sora doesn't understand at all.]

Uhhh. ... Yes? I don't think Ammy's really a queen though.

[Then Sora visibly winces.]

Ugh, sorry. I didn't mean it like that. The age thing.

[Nari will just keep calling Wan that now unless the cat dog bear thing somehow endears himself enough to the young man to warrant being called Wan.]

[He looks very upset till he just shrugs at it.] Whatever. I'm old enough looking to get into a bar no problem. Or it might help I'm pretty invisible. [Anyways] So. You a beach god?

I thought she was more like the... boss god?

[Weird.

But anyway- Sora is striking out so hard with this shinki so far he starts to blush in embarrassment. He really can't get this right, can he? At least Yurick likes him.

He's all for changing the subject. Sora is at least extremely proud of his domains so he introduces himself further with a proud grin.]

No, I'm not a beach god my temple just looks that way. I'm a god of light! Baldr, the Norse god of light, forgiveness, purity, love, peace and justice!

That sounds like a magical girl. And was the guy so bald he needed the name Baldr?

Sora furrows his eyebrows and has one fierce pout growing.]

I don't know if he was bald. It's just a Norse name. He was a prince and he had lots of herbs in his name, he even had a flower named after him.

[And Sora points at all the little white flowers that are growing in large spots all around the grounds.]

I've watched an episode or two of a magical girl show. They all say things like that in their catchphrases.

[This guy knows nothing about the Norse. Nari knows some about the gods of Mexico, but that's because his former god was from there.

At the mention of flowers, he looks over and raises an eyebrow.]

That looks like chamomile. [Just going to walk over and pick one, rubbing the petals between his fingers before sniffing it.] Doesn't really have a smell to it. Wouldn't make a good tea.

Okay, yeah, but! But! That doesn't mean they're not important... !

[Sora's realization that he might be part magical girl is really harrowing.

But at least... Nari seems somewhat interested in something Sora is as well. His eyes widen a little.] You know what all that is?

My last god presided over healing, medicine, and helping children not have nightmares. Sorry light and love seem a little too comical.

[Except nightmare inducing masks were everywhere in the temple.

Nari nods and kneels down to look at what else was there.]

Yeah. I picked up-[stole]-a book one day that looked interesting. Was all about plants. Might sound weird, but it felt right to learn all about them. Which ones are poisonous, which ones can be used for medicine, which ones are pretty much just ornamental and will kill your cat or dog if eaten... I like nature. And nature likes me.

[He actually sounds rather passionate about this. :D]

You can think it's funny all you want but I don't want to think of a world without light and love, do you?

OH GREAT ANOTHER SHINKI THAT STEALS So Nari likes plants and likes to read about them. At least that gives Sora more of a basis of who he is so Sora perks up and smiles.]

You should see the rest of the temple grounds then. There's all sorts of herbs and flowers around here that I don't know the name of or what they do. Apparently it's was a thing Balder was know for too.

[Please find the Lilly-of-the-Valley. It's poisonous.]

Light is something that happens naturally. Love? I can do without that. Seems like a waste of fucking time if ya ask me.

...... [He looks at Sora with a serious expression.] I will. But I gotta show you something weird before I do that.

[Sora has to look curious at Nari's second comment.] Something weird??

[Well, this someone had been in love before Nari decided his two best friends would be much happier not only together but with him not even in the picture anymore. Not that he remembers this. Love is awful.]

Not likely. [.....] What are you, some kind of TV censor?

[Nevermind. He takes a look at all of the plants before grabbing one that had a few seeds in it.] Thyme is nice... I found out I could do what I'm about to show you when one of Jimmy's arms came off. The cactus. His name's Jimmy.

[Oh boy. Here goes. Since he always carries a waterbottle around, he opens the lid and pours some into the hand with the seeds. Covering it up, it's a few moments before they are opened. Look, Sora, there's sprouted seeds in Nari's hands.] This is why I said nature likes me.

[Sora is pouting again.] No, but do you really need to swear to make a point? [Seems silly.

But he's quickly distracted by what Nari does next. The seeds sprouted like magic! Sora's expression turns surprised and wondrous.]

Whoa!! Nari, that's really cool! You can grow plants out of nothing! I'll have to tell everyone, we're trying to get some gardens set up!

[Sora looks about ready to clap. It really is amazing.]

Jimmy the cactus has a good friend. Is there anything else you can do with that power?

Fuck yeah I do. Most of the time. All the time. Unless the situation calls for a swear free environment. Or I'm around little kids. [Not that he likes kids.

Nari stares hard at him.]

It's not growing plants out of nothing. I have the seed and I have water. The seed needs water to germinate. I just speed up the process without using dirt, I guess... Then again, I need to control the water at the same time or else it's just a wet, drowning seed. Water can kill plants as easily as make them grow.

[Jeremy is bff.] Not that I've figured out yet?

[Wow, Nari is worse than Davesprite. Sora looks at him with a slightly deadpan expression. Keep up the swearing and Sora might try to outright Disney scold him.

Nari's explanation makes Sora look a little confused next. But he nods slowly.]

Still, sounds like you can kind of control all that. You can try anything out on the plants around here if you'd like that. The more you try things I bet the more you'll figure out.
