Alice was quick to take the puppy into her pinafore, wrapping it up and getting the mud away from it's mouth and eyes.
"Shh shh, it's alright, you're alright now. You poor thing," the puppy then proceeded to explain how he got into the puddle of mud, how he had been chasing a ball. "Oh I see," she whispered, stroking his head. She turned back to Celty.
"Thank you so much for your help, miss." Since Celty had said she wasn't a cat, Alice no longer called her Miss Puss. "That was wonderfully brave of you!" Alice was now covered in mud, they both were, but she didn't seem to care.
Well, she DID care in so much as she rather LIKED the strange outfit and she hoped the mud would come out of the white, but she felt the puppy to be far more important.
