With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

But...

[Goten tilts his head to the side at that and deflates a littl. They're both dismissing it so quickly. Is he the only one that thinks it would be cool to have a twin brother? Even if he was evil? Oh we--RIGHT food! That's an attention grabber. He grins at Shizuo, bouncing a bit on Izumo's shoulders]

ALL the food! I don't think we're even half way through it all. There's so much! Shizumo! Come with us, it'll be fun!

[ It's hard to match how awkward Shizuo can be, lbr here. It really is easy to dismiss or gloss over things when you're prompted to not look into certain things too much. What's pretty easy to see, or will be after a while, is how much a kid could really get away with from the guy.

If Izumo ever tried calling him that, it wouldn't even last a second before getting corrected. Something for him to learn in the future. ]

Yeah, I can do that for a while. What've you had so far? The desserts're pretty good.

[Izumo chuckles, throwing away the empty container.

Kids are special. Izumo won't ever call him that, though. But Izumo lists off the food they've had — yakitori. Dango. Barely halfway.]

Mm, let's check out the desserts then. [And before he forgets:] Goten, want something to drink, too?

[sonofson]

[Being the kid that he is, desserts sounds like one of the best idea thus far! Yes, please give the already excited child sugar. He loves sweets! Shizumo is good, please keep him around Izumo! He has great suggestions.]

Yeahhhhh!

[Fist bump in the air and all. Goten grins, resisting the urge to kick his feet because of where he is sitting. He smiles at them both.]

Nah, I want dessert! You gotta have some too, Izumo! And you too Shizumo! I bet they're really good.

[bartenderizing]

[ Lucky for you, Izumo, your lookalike has enough of a sweet tooth that he can make the search for desserts rather easy. Which isn't so surprising, given his one and only drink order.

Well, it's hard to not smile when a kid's as happy as Goten is. ]

Well, the crepes are right nearby if you wanna start with those.

[ He gestures over to one of the stalls with... the very hand that he was holding his own crepe with. ]

You've got a couple of filling options with it, too.

[Izumo laughs a bit, nodding to Shizuo to lead the way to the stall.]

Sounds like fun. What did you end up filling your own crepe with?

[sonofson]

Ooooh! I want one of those!

[Though they're moving to slow. Goten floats off of Izumo's shoulder and shoots for the stand that Shizuo gesture too. Izumo can wait for him to lead the way, Goten is going to shoot ahead. It looks like ice cream and he loves ice cream!

But he does stop and turn back around to the two older shinki, waving his arms and legs for them to follow. Izumo has to get one too after all!]

C'mon Izumo! I dont wanna get there and they all be gone cause they're so good!

[He doesn't know if they're good but Shizuo's crepe is enough to convince him. He's waving and pointing in the stands direction. Izuuuuumo hurry!]

[bartenderizing]

Strawberry. They have a-

[ And that's about when Goten started floating. To which Shizuo had a very lost, but amazed, expression as the kid flew on ahead.

Luckily he knew to keep his volume low enough so that kids don't hear his cursing. ]

The fuck... He's flying. How?

[ Someone thought he was a superhero for being a little strong. This kid can fly. ]

[Izumo doesn't wait a beat to follow after Goten, laughing as he hears Shizuo's words.]

Chi, apparently. He's a natural.

[He waves at Goten.]

Goten, go ahead and get one for me! You're free to choose whatever you wanna put in.

[He glances over at Shizuo.]

Don't be surprised if you see him flying on a yellow cloud, too.

[sonofson]

Okay! Whatever you say!

[Another wave and big smile before he zooms to the nearby stand. He doesn't need to be told twice! If Izumo and Shizuo wanna be slow and talk, that's on them. Besides, this way he's sure to get there as soon as possible. What fears he had of the stand running out of stock are quickly put to rest as he lands and runs up to the counter, looking over all the choices with wide eyes. There's so much to choose from!]

Damn.

[ The statement is both accepting and amazed. Natural or not, despite where they were, the idea of someone flying never entered the guy's mind. He can't really think too much about flying on clouds. It's a lot of new.

Luckily the obstacle of choices were more than enough to let the blonds catch up to Goten. ]

There's a chocolate and banana one if you can't choose.

[ Kids seemed like they'd want something more than a 'classic' thing. ]

[Izumo gives Shizuo a grin shortly before they catch up to Goten.

He easily peers at Goten's shoulder, looking at it.]

How many do you want? [The question is directed at Goten, of course, but then he looks back at Shizup.]

Do you want another one, too?

[sonofson]

Chocolate sounds really good...!

[Oh hey, they did catch up quick. He looks back over his shoulder and smiles up at them]

Uh, I donno...ten? But if I get that many I'll miss out on other stuff. We can come back for more later, right?

[The really do look good and if they're really good, Goten can hit this place again and really run their stock out. Though he's quickly distracted by ordering what he wants. Luckily the shinki serving them is patient enough to walk Goten through the steps. Extra add-ons ect. He is going with Shizuo's recommendation of chocolate though. ]

Izumo, since you're here now, you should pick what you want too!

[bartenderizing]

Thanks- Hands're kinda full.

[ To which he raises them to show the skewers in one hand and the crepe he had gotten only just before running into the two. ]

Yeah, the stall's not going anywhere. Maybe try three out first and you can always get back here.

[ Goten might not have been the only customer to ask for more than one crepe for themselves. The culprit is right behind the demi-saiyan. ]

[A glance back and a nod at Shizuo.

Well, they can always come back.]

Yeah, after we check out the other stalls, we can come back. [There's a look in Izumo's eyes though as he watches them.

Maybe he should experiment with crepes later.

Izumo shakes his head, quickly telling the shinki that's come up to help him his choices and watching them making crepes.]

[sonofson]

We should come back!

[And Goten stands on the tips of his toes to reeeeach up and take the treat from the white robed shinki that leans over the counter to give it to the boy.]

Thank you!

[See? He has some manners. It's not more then a second or so after the treat is handed over to him that he flashesa huge smile and before taking a big bite. It smears around the corners of his mouth and a bit on his nose. But wow is it good!

Is this heaven? Cause it taste like it.]

Mmmm~!

[Shizuo gives good suggestions]

We probably will.

[ Which is probably the closest to the heads up that the poor shinki would get. This definitely gives Shizuo a chance to eat his own crepe though- His bite is more human-sized luckily, and it's neater, but still rather big for an adult to consume in one go.

Izumo was going to see just how much Shizuo learned about the desserts in the area. Turns out the reason he wasn't a drinker was because he ate like a kid. ]

Dunno if you like the stuff normally, kid, but there's another nearby stall that has mochi with ice cream in it. You could try for that or the taiyaki.

[Izumo thanks the shinki as he accepts his crepe, taking his own bite.

It really is good.

He raises an eyebrow at Shizuo when he suggests more desserts, looking more amused than anything.]

Well, those do sound good. I've had taiyaki the last time there was a festival here, so it'd be good to have some again. [He peers down at Goten.]

What do you say?

[sonofson]

[Are you really asking that Izumo? The crepe is almost gone by this point. Big continuous bites as if he's been straving all day. Which...isn't at all true since he has been running around with Izumo.]

Yeah! Let's try it all. We gotta try everything!

[A couple more bites and it's gone. Goten is licking his fingers clean before smiling over to the two blondes]

[bartenderizing]

Oh yeah, you've been here long enough for that, huh?

[ There's not much reaction- mostly because while Shizuo caught the look, he's not the type to understand what that could mean. Obviously he saw this as being normal enough.

At least he can help out with the kid trying to go everywhere at once. ]

Yeah, but you gotta choose the order of it all. You can't tell two different stalls your orders at the same time.

Yeah, I've been here for a while.

[Longer than Goten, too, apparently.

But Izumo tilts his head.]

Then let's try the mochi one first.

[sonofson]

[Goten looks between the two curiously, licking his thumb before perking up. Food talk again. Good!]

But you can tell two different stalls your order at the same time...three even!

[He grins~]

If we all went to different stalls and ordered then we'd get it all at the same time! But....I like this way better cause I can hang out with Izumo and now you too Shizumo! So mochi it is!

There's a way you're supposed to do it at festivals, cuz many stalls try to make it a show or nice to watch it getting put together.

[ Much like how they watched the crepes get put together. The mochi one might not be quite like that, given the nature of the cold treat, but that was better for cooling off without worrying about it melting until after you've bitten into it.

Motioning over at the stall with the mochi, it's led by a shinki wearing some bunny-themed accessories. Because of the whole rabbit pounding mochi thing, ha-ha ]

They've got a lot of flavors. Green tea, vanilla, chocolate, red bean, yuzu...

Doing it one by one lets us enjoy it more.

[After all, where's the fun in eating festival foods if they attack it all at once?

Either way, he munches on his own crepe as he proceeds to head over to the stall.]

Green tea sounds good. [For some reason, red bean doesn't sound at all appealing to him.]

At least you think so...

[Why would green tea sound good over chocolate or strawberry? Must be an adult taste thing. Still Goten is just as eager at the stall. He peers up to watch the shinki work]

Izumo! Next festival, you should run a stall too. I betcha would make the best food. Shizumo could help ya too since I bet you'd get a whole bunch of business.
