With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

NOTE: Please report any wishes your characters answers to the first comment on this post along with a link to where the wish is answered. There will be small bonuses awarded for answered wishes.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

B. Wishes

[Naoto had been spectating the coming and going wish-makers for some time. The young boy who hangs up three in a row catches her eye however, and she can tell he's not one of the living guests who seem to be allowed here only for the festival. Intrigued and somewhat amused, Naoto approaches and attempts to make his acquaintance.]

That's quite the handful of wishes. Have a lot on your mind I take it?

[ When Naoto mentions it, he supposes three wishes are a bit ambition. And he's probably asking a lot with the second one. Though these are wishes he is quite sincere about. He turns to Naoto, giving her a crooked smile.]

Um...you can say that. There's a lot of things going on, but I want to make sure,I don't forget what's important.

[He scratches his cheek.]

Are you planning to make any wishes?

[Naoto returns his smile with a friendly one of her own.]

That's certainly important, keeping stock of what's most important to you. And this does seem like the perfect occasion on which to do so.

[She then pauses for a moment as she considers the boy's question.]

Truth be told, I cannot think of a thing to wish for. I suppose I could wish to find my assigned god faster... however, I expect that will eventually sort its out in a bit.

[She then extends a hand to shake.]

My name is Naoto Shirogane.

Yeah? I'm glad you agree. I do feel a bit more confident after making these wishes. Finding myself here did give me some uncertainty.

[Being away from friends and family, the main source of his support and strength, always makes him feel insecure. Though now he feels a little better about being apart from them, and even if he'll be able to succeed in his current role.

When Naoto mentions she doesn't know what to wish, she realizes she's a shinki.]

I'm sure you will find them soon, but you can always wish for you two to get along. Or even to make new friends. Maybe,to protect you in this journey.

[He's just throwing suggestions off the top of his head, really. He hesitates a bit at the hand she offers to him. It's customary to bow where he comes from. Though he does take her hand, though his grip isn't quite strong and his palms might be a little sweaty. Sorry.]

Nice to meet you, Naoto. I'm Tsunayoshi Sawada, but a lot of people call me Tsuna, for short.

[fortune_detective]

Nice to meet you, Sawada-san. Or would you prefer I call you Tsuna as well?

[She then considers his wish prompts. Both certainly sounded like reasonable wishes. After a moment, she writes down her own.]

["I wish to forge strong bonds with others in the coming year."]

[She holds it up, but refrains from hanging it on the bamboo for a moment. She almost seems to be reconsidering it.]

Sawada-san seems a bit too formal for someone like me. Please call me Tsuna, or even Tsuna-san, if it's too intimate.

[ He watches as she starts writing down her own wish. Naoto holds it up for him to see. He smiles, it's a good wish. Though he doesn't think there could be any bad wishes, unless it's to wish ill on someone else.]

I like it! [ Tsuna notices her hesitation and looks to Naoto.] Is something wrong?

Hmmm, very well. Tsuna-san then.

[She smiles friendly and polite. Naoto's typically just not someone who rushes to the informal even when given permission. She then fidgets a little as she tries to eloquate her hesitance.]

Does it sound too... cliche?

Cliche? I don't know. Most people ask for better grades, for more money or even to get into the school of their choice. To create strong bonds...unfortunately is not that important to some people.

[Which is really a shame, since Tsuna doesn't know where he'll be without his friends.]

If it's true to your heart, then you shouldn't worry if it's cliche or not.

[fortune_detective]

[Naoto blinks for a moment, and then a warm smile appears as she blushes softly.]

That's sweet of you to say. Thank you.

[Naoto turns and hangs the wish on an available bamboo branch.]

True to my heart...

[Naoto mutters the words softly, almost as if to herself. She then turns back to face Tsuna, the warm smile still there, but the pink has left her cheeks now.]

That's better. I admittedly was beginning to feel like I was missing out watching others hang up their wishes. It doesn't really feel like you're fully celebrating Tanabata until you hang up one of your own, does it?
