With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

NOTE: Please report any wishes your characters answers to the first comment on this post along with a link to where the wish is answered. There will be small bonuses awarded for answered wishes.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

That'd require actual emotion.

[And with that, lightning fast, he snaps his fingers out just so, and his yoyo goes slamming forward right towards Fushimi's face. It's a lot weightier than one would think a yoyo to be, enough to make a normal person stumble back if it hit.]

[Fushimi dodges and as he does, throws a hand up. The hand is on fire.

Well. Alright then.

Fushimi proceeds to make a fist and attempt to throw the fire at the idiot attacking him. He manages it, at least]

[Oh, okay, that's a thing. He guesses he shouldn't be surprised- fire seems to be the most common ability here.]

[At least he roughly knows his way around a fight, especially predicting one after his own actions. Yoyo snapping back into his palm, he ducks the punch and.... immediately tries to get behind some poor random sap. Either it'll discourage a fight or he'll have a shield, and either way is a win.]

You have a short temper, huh...?

[CHIKUSA YOU ATTACKED HIM]

You attacked me first.

[Said random sap gets the hell out of dodge when he sees Fushimi coming at him.]

For no reason.

You were annoying me.

[That's a legit reason, right?]

[Sighing, Chikusa stays in place for a second before trying to make a last minute duck under Fushimi's outstretched arm. If he can just get past him...]

That's a child's excuse.

[Fushimi spins on his heels when the other guy tries to get behind him, grabbing the first thing that he can reach to throw at him.

Enjoy the flaming paper cups, Chikusa]

[Okay this is the second time involving fire and a festival. He's starting to wonder if that's a sign.]

[One gets him at his hat, and Chikusa bats out the fire without any apparent care for the burns made to his hand. All he focuses on is using his height to leap up and draw himself up onto the top of a stall.]

And isn't it childish to run into people and deny you did anything...?

[Running around in a yukata is such a pain... Now even more he wonders about Maria picking out a skirt. How the hell do you fight in these things properly?]

[monkeyblue]

[Fushimi is managing it. Mostly.]

I didn't run into you. You got in my way, and then tripped me.

[Oh look. Meat skewers without meat on them. Those are getting thrown next. Also on fire.]

[kokuyoyo]

[Another yoyo is pulled out and, with the same speed as before, Chikusa lashes out with the pair of them. Fire doesn't change the fact that they're sticks, and the unorthodox weapons smash through them easily.]

Didn't you run into me?

[monkeyblue]

I took one step away from the stall. It was all you.

[Tch, those damn yoyos....he needs something to slice the strings off.

Also really, it was both of their faults but. Details.]

Stop!

[ It was inevitable that someone would come to intervene eventually before they burned down half the festival.

They probably just weren't expecting it to be a very irate six-year-old pointing a finger at them both in accusation.

She doesn't care who started it, she's here to finish it. ]

No more fighting!

[kokuyoyo]

[....Well, this is awkward.]

[Chikusa pauses at the sound of Nanako's voice, stopping his hand from any further action. This sort of thing was going to happen inevitably, but.... Yeah, he has to admit, he didn't think it would be from her.]

[....People get upset if small children are hurt. That much, he knows.]

[Welp, time to deflect the blame.]

He started it...

[Maybe it's fitting that a child is stopping this fight, because these two are probably around the same age in their hearts of hearts.]

Oh, please.

[Fushimi steps back when the girl comes forward, crossing his arms and looking away]

Lying to a child? Really?

You set things on fire!

[ She is so Very Disappointed in you both right now. ]

That's mean! Especially after what happened to the temple! And everyone came here to have a fun time, too. You both have to fix it!

It's true.... You set things on fire...

[What do you mean he's taking absolutely no responsibility for this at all? Listen- it's fine. But he's put away the yoyos now, and has settled himself on the edge of the stall roof. Lazily, he gestures for Nanako to come over.]

I just got here and acted in self-defense. You attacked me first with those yoyos of yours.

[ Her mouth drops open at that, because even if the yoyos aren't currently visible, Nanako knows about them, and if this guy does too, it's obvious they made an appearance at some point. ]

That's not very nice, Chikusa, you're supposed to save the attacking for the bad spirits. And you, Mister! You need to be more careful, someone could get hurt! [ She stomps a foot in frustration before marching over to the stand where Chikusa is perched on top. ]

Come down, Chikusa!

[kokuyoyo]

[Instead of arguing or saying much more, all Chikusa does is dig through his bag before leaning down and trying to drop a candied apple on a stick down towards Nanako.]

[Stop yelling at him, please and thank you]

Bribery? Really?

[Fushimi scoffs.]

You're not helping your case.

[ Stop fighting in the middle of the street and maybe she'll consider it.

At the moment, she just gives a frustrated sigh and looks between the both of them. ]

Are you going to stop now? Festivals aren't for fighting. You're supposed to be having fun here, too.

[ Although she'll accept the offer of candied apple in appeasement for the time being, but don't think that's getting you off the hook if you think you're gonna continue this. She's still standing there looking at them both expectantly. ]

[kokuyoyo]

[Chikusa makes direct eye contact with Fushimi as Nanako accept the apple, a suck it, it worked without saying as much. Shame? What the fuck is that?]

[But in all honesty... A sigh is heaved out.]

...Fighting is too troublesome.... and I'm just going to get sweaty if he keeps using fire like that...

[Clearly that's the most offensive thing about it.]

I'm not going to have fun, but if he leaves me alone I won't bother him.

[This guy is such an asshole.]

[ She can't argue with you, Fushimi, but that's also a bad word. And you're probably not one to talk. ]

Just as long as you stop fighting. Can't you find something fun to do instead? [ That was directed at both of them, but Fushimi's comment prompts a disappointed look in his direction. ] Don't you like festivals? Why not?

[Chikusa finally hops down, managing to not break his neck- he's done this kind of thing before so it's fine. (And he can't feel pain.)]

I was doing things...

[...And then he doesn't explain what. Nice, Chikusa.]

[He shrugs. He's not going to explain himself to a kid and he's ignoring the teenaged asshole.]

I just don't. Are we done here?
