With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

NOTE: Please report any wishes your characters answers to the first comment on this post along with a link to where the wish is answered. There will be small bonuses awarded for answered wishes.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

[ Having grown up as a voracious reader, Ram has plenty of stories to look back on to decide on how she can expect other people to be. That, and she doesn't really ever try that hard to learn about people, seeing as she's so quick to judgement.

But so far, she's not sure she's been wrong at all. Which only makes her more smug. ]

[He's not so sure he actually believes what she's throwing down, but she definitely seems sure of herself. Does she just not talk to people?]

Because it's supposed to be for couples. I feel like I should wait until I get an answer before stepping on that bridge with him.

[ She's mostly just used to talking to her twin sister, who praises her, does all her work for her, and will literally murder anyone who speaks ill of Ram. It's not exactly the best for Ram's personality... ]

I see. It sounds as if you've actually thought this through...

[ Stopping to rub her chin for a moment, Ram sounds as if for the first time she's actually impressed with him, and not... herself. ]

I've heard in these situations roleplaying is a good practice for the main event. [ Bowing in front of him, Ram actually starts to look like she really is here to help. ]

I've been thinking about it for... Nevermind. [It's too embarrassing to admit just how long he's had a crush on his friend.

He pinches his bottom lip for a moment as he considers it. Hajime said he should say it out loud, and roleplaying might actually help.]

[ Having decided to get into this, to solve someone else's problem and therefore complete a prayer to impress her god, Ram isn't going to give up now.

Plus, when she helps and inevitably this boy's confession goes without a hitch, he will definitely, finally, absolutely have to praise her, at which point she will have one. ]

[ Moving a little more, Ram winds up standing beneath the overhang of one of the buildings, just lit up by the numerous lanterns. Here they are away from anyone else, so there should be no worry about being overheard...

[He takes a breath in, fairly certain Shouto himself isn't anywhere nearby. Besides, the fact he'll be using his name should make things a little clearer even if he did show up. ... Though it would maybe ruin his plans a bit.]

Todoroki... we've been partnered for a while now. A-and... I called you over here because... I want to confess something to you-- It's nothing bad, I promise! You're... You're really important to me, maybe the most important person I've ever met.

I-I like you. Um. I guess that's obvious, huh? I mean... I like you ro-romantically. Y-you don't have to answer now! Or ever, really. I just... figured you should know.

[ If the boy in question were around, Ram would have been a genius if she could have swapped out herself with him while Izuku isn't looking. She'd be making sure the wish was granted without worrying about him getting stage fright. It's too bad she has no idea what he looks like however.

So for now, she stands with her arms on her hips, not at all like a maid. She nods her head, giving a "hm?" and "mm" in place as needed in the middle of Izuku's speech to make it clear she's listening.

And when he finishes, Ram can't help but smile smugly, as if she's already accomplished her mission.. despite doing nothing at all. ]

Well done, my tutelage has served you well. I have a few pointers. Instead of telling me I don't need to answer, you should get me to answer right away. Wasting time thinking about it means I might say no. You should be more forceful.

[Todoroki Shouto is very obvious if Ram ever met him. Two-tone hair like his isn't exactly common.

This was the same speech he's been turning over in his head for weeks now.]

I don't want him to say yes out of obligation. We're partners, but that doesn't mean he has to go along with everything I say. If he ever answers me, I'd rather it was genuine, you know...?

It sounds as if you two know each other well.

[ Hot-cold personality, well, at least she's dealt with that type before. She's certain she'd be fine despite how baseless that certainty is. ]

In my experience men are most truthful when they are facing death. If you would like, I could threaten his life in order to elicit a truthful response.

[ Before he can even react she's reaching out to place her finger in front of his mouth to silence him. ]

No, don't worry, you don't need to say anything at all. I understand.

[His very impassioned plea to not do that is only briefly halted by Ram's finger. He'll gently push her hand down.]

Don't threaten him!

L-Look, I know Todoroki well and... that's not a good idea.

[ She's surprised to see a backbone suddenly, tilting her head to the side questioningly. ]

Then I can make it seem as an accident. I am certain I could drop something heavy next to him so that he only feels like he might have died, if that makes you feel better.

[Izuku might be an embarrassed wreck right now, but that's his partner who could be in danger. His backbone always shows up whenever other people are involved.]

Don't do anything like that! He's had to deal with that feeling enough. [Izuku had to deal with the memory of Shouto's death. He would rather not feel it ever again, thank you very much.]

I'll just tell him all of this at the base of the bridge. I just promised myself I'd confess today. I'm not expecting an answer right away.

[ To be fair, she can understand that much. She might not have anyone she cares about right now, but the idea that there used to be someone that she still is a feeling that will never quite go away. ]

I see. So your future boyfriend material is accustomed with death already. That would make the entire point irrelevant anyway.

[ She makes it sound like she's not going to try to kill Todoroki because of that and not because she's worried about actually killing him..... ]

Then it seems like I have given you everything you need to do this correctly. Any failure now would reflect back on me as your teacher, so I expect you to work your butt off.

[His future boyfriend is technically already dead. Oh the wonders of dating a shinki.

The gaze he settles on is vaguely worried. She's not going to drop something dangerous on Shouto, right?

He can can only hope.

She seems dangerous in her unpredictability. Nobody can blame him if he's concerned about his partner's continued well-being.]

I'm already planning on confessing to him. What else am I supposed to do?

[ Oh hey, so's she. So Todoroki is clearly in good company!

Though Izuku is good to be wary around Ram, she has at least for the moment decided she won't attempt to kill Todoroki. And as unpredictable as she can be, she does often think out her plans, at least in part, before doing them.

For now, with that question, she leans in dangerously close without warning. Only, instead of doing anything weird, she just picks at his hair instead. ]

You should get a haircut.

[Just who is good company here?

Izuku takes a step back when Ram gets uncomfortably close-- oh his hair? It's just his hair? This is probably fine then.]

I'm meeting him at an hour, I don't have the time for that.

[nohorn]

[ Ram is?? Clearly?? Look at how much of an upstanding citizen she is, helping a young boy with his boy problems. She deserves a medal. ]

Hm. Well. Then good luck, I guess.

[ Why does she make it sound like he's doomed? ]

[Can he really call this helping...? At least it's not hurting.

[Great, now he's worried all over again.]

[ YES. Definitely helping. Super helping. They are gonna get so many... whatever it is that helping other people nets you here, Ram doesn't quite know.

But she sure does look proud of herself, as she walks off to go find Elfnein to tell her. ]
