With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

[She squeezes his hand a bit before lifting up her free hand and holding up three fingers. Smilllle~!]

[Lavi blinks at her, confused, especially when she holds up three fingers.]

What are you doing?

[Don't tell him you're planning on taking a picture.]

[She just stares at him, moving her hand so its right in front of his face as if that will some how make him realize. It doesn't seem to so she counts them down one by one.]

....One! Helping Orihime-san. Two! Here at the festival with cotton candy. Three! Right here, right not!

[It clicks.

Ah, right. I did promise you third time's the charm, right?

[The three fingers lower and come together as she gives him a thumbs up. Good job!]

You did! But if you're shy about it, it's okay! It takes awhile to warm up to people sometimes! Even longer to understand them. You just gotta work and work and try your best until BAM!

[Her hands clap together suddenly]

It all comes together!

[Lavi is a bit bemused, but she--

She really does understand a bit, doesn't she?]

[Moving on:]

Did you come here to make a wish, though?

Not this time. My wish is already up here. [She even points in the direction of where she hung it earlier. Pink glittery gel pen with doodles of stars may be a give away.]

I just spotted you for you! I saw you from a ways off and had to come see you.

[He looks over at where she's pointing, looking amused by how decorative it looks.]

Well, guess you caught me at a good time then.

[birdstheword]

Mmhm! And seeing your wish and having another one of my own... [She spreads her arms wide] I have the perfect game for us to play if you're interested! But once you start, you can't back out or you lose! Loser owes the winner a favor!

[Moment of silence for effect then she clicks her tongue in a drum-roll like fashion]

What was your wish? [Can't help but be curious since she did bring it up.

But, a favor, huh? Lavi certainly can't lose.]

Alright, sounds like an interesting game.

[birdstheword]

[Hajime grins, winking at him as she wiggles a finger back and forth as she makes a "Tsk Tsk" sound]

Is that your first question for me, Lavi-san?

[lostinshadows]

[His lips twitches.]

Only if that's your first question for me. [Because a question is still a question, isn't it?]

[birdstheword]

[She blinks, her playful grin changing into an amused smile~]

Ohohoho~ Lavi-san is good! Okie dokie, I'll give you that freebie. I don't mind a handicap!

[She's mostly teasing]

My wishes are hanging up on the branch there with pink sparkly ink! You can read them for yourself! As for other wish I was talking about for the evening; it was to met you a third time!

[He simply smiles.

Her energy is contagious. Though, her wishes was definitely interesting.

Lavi grins.]

Some, not all. How long have you been in this place?

[Hajime hums a little. This game with shinki is a little tricky. She wants to find out more about Lavi but he may not even know the answer himself. HMMM...Oh!]

Out of all questions, why did you have to ask that one? But Lavi doesn't think about it too long:]

Neither. Some lies are necessary and some truths are sometimes what we need to walk forward.

[A beat:] What fears do you have?

I can't think of anyone that really likes telling someone their fears so I'll give you one: Not being me anymore.

[Hajime doesn't even pause to think about it. She giggles, raising a hand to pat her chest thoughtfully. Here's a question Lavi should see coming.]

Are you happy?

[Lavi manages a wry grin.

Of course she'd ask that.]

Now I am. Are you always this happy or is there more to your smiles than you want to reveal?

[Hajime hums, her smile growing a bit.]

Depends on what's going on. I don't smile when I don't want to though, so they're not lie! A smile can mean a lot of different things. Are you lying, Lavi-san?

[His grin widens.]

I only lie when I need to. What do you aspire to be?

[Aha. Hajime giggles, her hand shots up. Easily question!]

Huh, for some reason, it doesn't surprise him.]

We can. Do you think you'd be able to trust me?

[She already is one, but one can always aspire to be a better hero!]
