With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

NOTE: Please report any wishes your characters answers to the first comment on this post along with a link to where the wish is answered. There will be small bonuses awarded for answered wishes.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

[ Not knowing why they were following her, barely remembering a name. It was all the signs that she was told about that shinki have, maybe this girl was the one assigned to her now? ]

I'm Elfnein, recently I became a god here so I can't explain much... but you might be someone who is meant to help me?

[ While Ram's learned some amount of the state of things here, she didn't actually bother to listen to much, and even then it's so out of her understanding that she's simply moving along now on sheer willpower. ]

..You're a god?

[ That's all she gets out of that exchange, as Ram moves in closer, hands still on her hips as she leans forward closer to the girl's face, studying her closely. ]

Can you do anything god-like?

[ Too close... ]

I haven't used it much but.

[ Elfnein starts writing in thin air with her pointer finger, there's a slight big of light forming after each letter allowing the words to appear. It's just her name written in thin air, her power isn't that useful but it suits her. ]

[nohorn]

[ She's only going to get closer... only until she watches the girl writing in the air, at which point she leans back just an inch or two to watch. ]

A Divine Protection? Is that all it does?

[ At the moment, Ram doesn't quite trust this girl. She doesn't know why she feels attracted to her (magnetically more than any other reason) and that question in her makes her cautious. ]

[alchemists]

Is that not good enough?

[ Elfnein thinks it's pretty cool at least, writing in thin air and never having to write on paper to express something. ]

[ For a few extremely long moments Ram is silent. She stares at the smaller girl with such derision that she might as well not be seeing Elfnein as a human at all. That her very existence is an affront that offends Ram to her core. ]

wait 2/3...

[nohorn]

[ But staring at her, looking up at Ram like a cute little animal, one who looks as if she would be prey to anything looking for a simple snack, moves her. Just a little at first.

This strange connection between them... what could it mean? Is it really "not good enough"? ]

[ Then, as if something inside of her has been switched on, Ram changes completely. ]

It's more than good enough!

[ In those moments, Ram has decided that for some reason, whatever that may be (and refusing to even think too hard about why) that she will die for this girl. ]

[alchemists]

[ That was quite a different reaction from what Elfnein was expecting, this girl seemed completely uninterested and deadpan. ]

Do you really mean it? It's not a joke set up..

[ She can't really tell if this is a joke or for real. ]

[nohorn]

[ There's a good reason Ram's wound up looking so proud of the little girl, that she's smiling, even reaching out to pet her head as if she knew her entire life.

This girl is her God. She figured that out and something more than anything stuck out to her with that little demonstration:

She's pathetically weak and needs a big sister like Ram to protect her. It pulls at her weakness to cute animals and little kids and now Ram's imprinted on her like a mother hen. ]

I mean it. From today on I will be working for you. Feel free to ask me to do anything you might need, as long as it is not too difficult or a waste of my time.

[ ..Should a subordinate really be saying things like that? ]

[alchemists]

What should I call you then? I can't refer to you in vague terms.

[ Names are important, even if you don't remember much else. ]

[nohorn]

Ah, of course.

[ Ram straightens up in front of the girl and bows deeply at her waist, showing as much respect as she can to her new owner. ]

My name is Ram. That is... all I remember.

[alchemists]

You don't need to act so formal Ram.

[ Mainly because it's sorta making her more worried about things since she's not used to being a god still. ]

[nohorn]

You are my new Master, are you not?

[ She gives her a strange look, finding her own actions to be exactly as expected. Shouldn't a made be formal? What else would she be good for if she weren't? ]

[alchemists]

Yes, but I think if we're going to work together from now on we should be on equal terms.

[nohorn]

Equal terms?

[ No, that definitely seems strange. Everything she's heard (all like two minutes of it) means that she would be not at the level of a god. But if her new Master wants her to think of them as equal then... well that's a command in itself isn't it?

So she bows, deeply at the waist. ]

If that's what you wish, Master.

[alchemists]

[ Guess it will take time to get Ram to stop calling her Master and just use her name. ]

I can't wait to start working with you Ram.

[nohorn]

[ Certainly, if ever. That would be far too familiar. She could however settle on Elfnein-sama if she wished! ]

Work?

[ Wow, she hates that word. ]

Do you have a manor or estate that you need attending to?

[alchemists]

Well my temple is a library, so that does need cleaning from time to time?

[nohorn]

I see.

[ Tilting her head to the side, Ram seems lost in thought for a few moments, but comes up blank. ]

I feel like I can understand the task well enough. [ Though she thinks again and comes up with a small grin: ]

And you'll need my assistance bathing and getting dressed too. [ Will she?! ]

[alchemists]

I-I can get dressed and take a bath on my own!

[ She gets that Ram is a maid and that might be one thing they do but she doesn't need that kind of help. ]

[nohorn]

[ Ram would confess to being very good at it even! So she can't help but squint as she hears her new Master's protests. ]

There is no need to be embarrassed. I am a professional.

[alchemists]

It's really ok, I can handle it on my own!

[ Well that and the whole gender bit being complicated ]

[nohorn]

[ Ignoring that, Ram continues: ]

And if you need anyone to warm your bed or help you in the middle of hte night if you have nightmares please come to me first.

[alchemists]

I'll keep that in mind.

[ Elfnein wasn't expecting Ram to want to do all of that, she can handles things on her own! ]
