With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

NOTE: Please report any wishes your characters answers to the first comment on this post along with a link to where the wish is answered. There will be small bonuses awarded for answered wishes.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

[ Shouto, none the wiser as to what's about to happen, has still noticed that Izuku has been a little more skittish than usual lately. It's not hard to pick up when he spends literally almost all of his time with his partner, but here he is, confused, unsure of what's causing it.

He's also dealing with trying to figure out his own feelings, ever since the field trip to Greece.

Kairi helped solidify something, but he has no idea what to do with it.

But it doesn't stop him from meeting up with Izuku, inclining his head a little. ]

Hey. Is this the bridge?

[There's a reason he's been so on edge. But he's already made his decision. His time with Rem solidified what he was going to say... Still, being face to face with Shouto like this...

He shouldn't be nearly as stressed as he is. It'll be okay... He hopes.]

Y-Yeah. It doesn't look as sturdy as it is, huh?

Um... I want... to tell you something.

[His face is flushed but he's not hiding in his arms the way he usually would. No, instead he's reaching out for Shouto's hand. Brushing them together for a moment before linking their fingers together.

He... probably shouldn't. He should leave Shouto free to leave if he wants.

Instead he grips a little tighter.]

We.... we've been partnered for a couple of months now, right? A-and you have some of your memories back... [It's so much harder to confess when he's actually confessing.]

I want t-to c-confess something. It's nothing bad! I... I really like you! R-Romantically!

You don't have to a-answer right now. But... I figured you should know...

HE DONE IT

Not really. [ But if Orihime traverses it often, then it must be, right? And things are often deceiving in the Far Shore's case, so... Shouto figures it'll be fine. If it isn't, he can just create his own bridge with ice to make sure they don't fall through, should they go to cross it.

Those thoughts derail when Izuku says he wants to tell him something, and he looks at him, then down at their hands when he takes one of his. The gesture isn't unfamiliar at this point, and he doesn't bat an eye at it, but it's... what he's saying that really gets his attention, and he blinks, confusion evident in the subtle shift of his expression and the way it slides into the god-shinki bond.

And then the rest of what Izuku says catches up to his brain.

Oh. ]

[ Oh.

Shouto's confusion, and the little bit of concern that'd seeped in, bursts into something warm. It's still confused, because he still doesn't know what to do with the idea of love, but.

He shakes his head, curling his fingers tighter with Izuku's so he doesn't get the wrong idea, or try to run. And if he tries to teleport, he'll have to take him with him.

It gives him a little bit to get control of his thoughts, and of the fact that his left side has absolutely heated up. His right side hasn't dropped too much, thankfully, but it's not much of a comfort when either side could absolutely, suddenly kick in without a command from him. ]

This is what's been - [ No, bothering isn't right. Rephrase. ] ... you've been thinking about this for a while, haven't you.

[His heart's hammering in his chest, it feels like something's caught in his throat. Does he have regrets about this confession? No.

But... but at the same time, now he has to deal with the potential fall out. Still... there's something warm in his chest that's not quite his own. Shouto's grip on his hand just got tighter.

Maybe... Maybe it's alright...?]

I've... It's been on my mind for weeks now. I thought... It wouldn't be fair to you i-if I didn't say something.

[He's not running. Not from this.

Even if a small part of him wants to. Just a little bit.]

[ Shouto goes quiet again, obviously thinking as he - well, he either thinks things over for a long time, internalizes and turns them over and then says them, or he just says the first damn thing to come to mind. It's a tossup on which one you'll get, and it's always dependent on the situation and the person.

Izuku, of course, winds up with both of them. Regularly.

He looks at him, mismatched eyes scanning over his face as he just takes him in. ]

Greece. [ Is what he finally says, apropos of nothing. Or, so it seems, until he elaborates. ] I learned about the different kinds of love from some nymphs and a shinki named Kairi while we were in Greece. I still don't completely understand them, or what they mean in relation to me. And you're the only thing I remember, so I can't say for sure if I really ever understood it before, but I feel like I probably didn't. So I have no idea how a relationship is supposed to be, or what it feels like or what to do.

[ His temperature spikes and drops, respectively, as he goes quiet again for a long beat. ... but I think I like you, too.

[Izuku can't meet Shouto's eyes right now. It's too much to handle right now, and they're already holding hands like this. People... can't die from embarrassment, right? It hasn't happened before!

His panic is derailed when Shouto speaks.

Greece? Kairi? Nymphs? Oh... They talked to the same person that day.

Eventually he manages to meet his gaze. I think I like you, too.

...!

They both want this?]

I... I don't really know what I'm doing either. But... I know I like you, and I want... to spend all my time with you.

S-So let's try this. Together.

[ Talking to Kairi was when he realized that what he felt for Izuku was different from what friends tend to feel for each other, but it wasn't... independent of friendship. And that reassures him, in a way, because he doesn't want their friendship to go anywhere. He meant what he said, when he regained his memories of Izuku - he's certain that he's the first real friend he ever had.

But he likes this, too. He wants this, too, whatever that winds up being exactly. ]

If it's with you, I think I'd like to try.

[They're still friends. Whatever happens they are still friends and that's important to him. He doesn't want to lose the friendship they's built up over these months.

An absolutely brilliant smile crosses Izuku's face, and he squeezes Shouto's hand.

They're going to do this. They're going to date.

What even counts as dates?]

I'm... I'm really thankful.
