With Tanabata drawing close, the Heavens have decided that there is nothing wrong with a little celebration for the annual occasion. So they have invited everyone on the Far Shore as well as a large number of people from the Near Shore to attend a festival for Tanabata. Tanabata festivals are not uncommon in this area, so the Near Shore residents are none the wiser, though some of them are a little uncertain about where this street they've never heard of popped up from...

Tanabata is a festival held to celebrate the one time a year that the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet across the vast expanse of the Milky Way. Many birds have been working their tail feathers off to create a bridge for the two lovebirds and that bridge - perhaps unsurprisingly - touches down on this street, in the middle of the festival.

The Heavens have prepared entertainment, food stalls, and as many tanzaku as might be needed for everyone to write down wishes, along with plenty of bamboo stalks to hang the wishes from.

New arrivals will find themselves ushered to the festival and offered traditional clothing after their normal briefing at the Meeting Hall.



Stalls

There are festival stalls of every kind present, all run by shinki dressed in white robes and bearing the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu. Many of them seem a little bruised still, but they are happy to smile for anyone who comes to the stall they are running. There is food, games, and drinks available of all kinds, so feel free to roam around to your heart's content sampling everything that you can.

Performance

A large stage has been erected at one end of the festival street. The Heavens know that there are many talented gods and shinki present, so they are more than willing to clear spots in the scheduling for those people to perform. Anytime a Far Shore resident isn't on stage, there are plenty of Near Shore acts to go on, ranging the gambit from traditional music and instruments all the way to a rock band that has somehow found themselves here for the celebration.

Wishes

Pieces of paper called tanzaku have been strewn about a number of bamboo shoots all over the festival. There are brightly colored decorations on the bamboo and the papers themselves exist in every color of the rainbow as well. Attendees are encouraged to write down any wishes they may have and hang them from the bamboo, a normal Tanabata tradition. Wishes can range from 'I want a soda' to 'World peace' and anything in between. Obviously, some of these wishes may not be able to be granted during the time of the festival, but gods and shinki alike are encouraged to answer any wishes they can as well.

The Bridge

As stated previously, the bridge that will allow Orihime to meet her lover touches down in the very center of the festival's street. It may be made of tiny pieces, but the bridge itself is sturdy. While it may not be able to take just anyone who sets foot on it across the Milky Way, you are allowed to walk along the bridge yourself, though you will always find yourself turned around after a short time and heading back towards where you stepped on. Lovers in particular are encouraged to walk the bridge together to deepen their bonds, but be cautioned! If you walk onto the bridge with someone, you might start feeling affectionately towards them even if they are your sworn enemy! Such is the power of love on this day.

[White day? He's sure that he's heard Izuku mention it before, or that might've been from the list Izuku's shown him. He's amused, nonetheless, about hearing how Hajime and Izuku are both heroes.

That seems to be a popular thing.

[A blink before he grins.]

Is there anyone here you have a crush on?

[She blinks a bit at that, head tilting as she giggles.]

Bzzt! Nope. I love all my friends, new and old! Lavi-san included!

[She winks at him. No crushes. Even if she did have one she's not sure if she would realize it right away.]

Same question, right back at you! Anyone make Lavi-san's heart go doki doki?

[Lavi laughs, shaking his head.]

Nope, not at the moment.

[Little white lie but Lavi doesn't really understand it, so it counts as a truth, too.]

Why do you want to be a hero? [Curious question from a curious redhead. What's so special about heroes, really?]

I am a hero but I wanna be better. Heroes help everyone, they protect you too! A hero is always there to act and do their best. I wanna spread my wings too!

[She makes a fist and puts her arm over her chest]

Gatcha!

[That. That is an interesting answer. Lavi knows being a hero isn't easy, but if her and Deku wants to be one, who's he to stop them.

The gesture makes him look on in amusement.]

I'm gonna guess that's a catchphrase of yours.

Not mine, Gatchaman!

[Grin~!]

What does Lavi-san think about the most?

[....Well, okay. That slipped out. Moving on:]

What are your hobbies?

[Well, that 'what' became a 'who']

Arts and crafts, gatchaman things, doing prayers, jogging, and hanging out with friends.

Lavi-san, is your eyepatch to hide a scar or something or can you just not see outta that eye?

[The question has him jerking, surprised she would even ask that.

Instinctively, his hand reaches up to touch the eye-patch. There's something about it that makes him actually think about for the first time. He's never really thought about it before and no one else has ever asked, so it's easy to forget about it.

Being able to see through one eye has always been easy enough that it's slipped.

Lavi drops his hand, smiling.]

I'm not sure. Never bothered to take it off. [He doesn't remember and he's a little afraid of possibly seeing for himself what's under this eye-patch.]

[Hajime blinks at that. The jerk is hard to miss. She keeps quiet as he reaches up to touch the eye-patch, watching with curiosity. Bad question?

She steps forward and reaches up on the tips of her toes as if to reach for the eye patch herself, but stops. Her hand hovers just in front of his face]

It's okay, Lavi-san. Maybe that eyepatch and whatever is under it is important. Don't sweat it, 'kay? You do you.

[She smiles, letting her hand slowly drop.]

[He's thankful when she doesn't reach for the eye-patch. It might be enough to get the redhead to instinctively lash out, and he doesn't want to do that to her.

Lavi quickly gathers himself, trying not to look as shaken as he felt.]

Do you have any sort of power since you're a hero?

[birdstheword]

[She just going to reach out again and pat his hand. There, there]

I do! I'm a Gatchaman. I'm really good with scissors.

[She pulls back and reaches into the top of her yukata, pulling out something that looks like a notebook. She holds it up, wiggling it a bit]

I can 'Bird, go' and transform!

[Lavi looks at the notebook, interested. So that was part of her powers?]

That's really interesting. Never seen anything like that before.

[birdstheword]

Mmhm! I'm the only Gatchaman here so it's not surprising this is the first NOTE you're seen!

[Hajime lowers the NOTE to cradle it by her chest.]

What's your power? Shinki-wise and everything in-between!

Now you make me want to see you use that NOTE.

[Ah, is it okay to tell her?]

As a shinki, I can manipulate the weather, but other than that, nothing really special about me. [That he can remember, anyway.]

What's your power as a goddess?

[birdstheword]

Hm? All you gotta do is ask, Lavi-san~!

[She grins, cause that will cost him a question though. Any othertime she'd do it freely. His power is really interesting. Not the first time she's heard of weather control]

Ah, that's a little tricky. I can manipulate and make threads but I can also see everyone's life threads and pick them out! Like yours! I did some reading on 'Neith', that's the goddess' name, and she was a god of fate. Able to weave it and see everyone's threads and where they lead so I guess it makes sense!

Not when it costs me a question.

[Another time maybe.

But at the answer, Lavi digests it and holds back a grimace. So, she's able to see everyone's life threads, huh? He supposes that it would make it hard for anyone to try and hide from her.]

[birdstheword]

[In case her explanation on the threads wasn't good enough, her smile grows as she reaches towards him. Might as well show her god ability first hand.
Picking something out of the space between them, she lifts it up slowly. With the contact of her finger tips, the glowing thread appears between them as she twists it gently around her index finger. It may be an odd sensation for Lavi. Like someone is walking over his grave or touching something deep inside that they shouldn't be.

The thread is long, whirling around them both but if he looks down, it seems to be coming straight from his chest]

It's this. I can see anyone's though and follow it to them. People that disappear from here....their threads do to. Or if someone is super hurt, the thread shows it too.

[He feels strange, nearly uncomfortable and somewhat intrusive.

A glance down, startled to find a thread coming out from his chest. Lavi makes a face before he turns to her.]

That's uncomfortable. I guess no one can really hide from you in that case.

[birdstheword]

Maybe, maybe not! Who really knows. It is handy for knowing when somone poofs.

[She lets go of the thread, as it drops from her finger tips it starts to fade like it was never there to begin with.]
