[ Open ] With new power comes...

Who: Nanako and anyone inclined to be out exploring or who might notice a new mountain looming in the Far Shore.
When: July 12
Where: Nanshe's newly-discovered Temple
What: Nanako has discovered she has god powers after all! Now it's led her to finally discovering she has a temple here and it gives her the perfect place to try out some of the new things she can do.

A; To Find Shelter

[ It's been a little over a week since Nanako had discovered that she did indeed have a god power of her very own. Even if it had taken her awhile to get the hang of it. It was still taking her a while to get the hang of it, but today she's taken a break from practicing in the backyard of Souji's temple to go investigate something for herself.

Because she's felt a pull that's been growing stronger over the past few days, insistent and niggling and new. Since it hadn't faded or gone away, she'd decided this morning to follow it and see what she found.

Which is how she ends up at the base of a mountain not that long a walk away from Souji's temple. A mountain which she's very sure she's never seen before. She thinks? But there's a walled gate around its base that feels vaguely familiar to her, even if she doesn't know why. The gate stands wide open and welcoming, however, so she proceeds inside, heading up a long stone staircase to the shrine she finds at the top, brightly colored with banners waving and surrounded by a hillside full of blooming azalea bushes. The shrine itself is set beside a huge lake full of fat and lazy fish swimming within its depths.

And the more she explores of this place, the more certain she is - she's finally found Nanshe's temple. Her temple. Delighted, she starts poking into every inch of the shrine she can find, exploring all over it and seeing everything hidden within this new place. Eventually, she'll go looking for her brother and Homura, wanting to share with them her newest discovery, but if anyone else happens by in the meantime, she might excitedly show them around as well. ]

B; To Rise

[ The discovery of her very own temple means one thing for certain - it's given her a wide open space to keep practicing her new abilities. And since she now knows how to look for that tiny flicker of power that seems to blossom brighter each time she uses it, it's easy to flit back and forth between normal and the form her god power seems to give her - that of a halo and tiny wings and a bright cheerful glow that surrounds her every time it manifests.

She hasn't figured out yet if her power will allow her to fight evil spirits any better - especially when she doesn't know how to fight in the first place. But there are other uses to this power she's learning about. Like the fact that the tiny feathered wings on her back actually work, and as long as she can keep her focus steady, she can even manage to float for increasingly longer periods of time.

So of course this is what she's practicing, once she finds her own private mountaintop filled with colorful flowers, trees, and banners. Although it's with dubious success at first, she's determined to get better at it.

So, throughout various points of the day - and possibly the next few days - there's a tiny girl with angel wings floating, bobbing, and sometimes zooming around her shrine and occasionally even venturing outside her temple to see how far she can fly and how long she can manage it. Sorry, friends, her control isn't all that great yet... ]

[ She's discovering lots of interesting things here today and the sound of hooting certainly catches her attention, having her following the sound to the source.

She blinks up at the large white owl sitting on her windowsill and blinks back at it in surprise and delight. ]

Hello. Do you live here too? [ Because talking to an owl is perfectly normal, right? But she inches closer to peer up at it, wondering if it will let her get close. ]

[Totally normal. Still, the owl stays where it is, simply watching her and blinking occasionally with its enormous eyes. Right as she's close enough to touch it, a soft dull voice speaks up from above.]

So it was just you...

[And that sure is Chikusa dropping down from- was he hiding in the rafters? Listen, don't question it. Or why he's tucking a yoyo back into his pocket. It's not important. The hat of the day is a simple dark gray, wrinkled a bit, but he doesn't bother to straighten it out as he draws himself up into his usual slouch.]

Eep!

[ Nanako jumps half a foot at the unexpected voice, peering at the owl in alarm for a moment before she realizes she's not alone here. When Chikusa drops down from the rafters to land beside her, she scowls, shaking a finger at him. ]

Chikusa! You scared me! Why were you in the roof?

I didn't know who had come into the building...

[So that's what you do when you're unsure about strangers, right? Hide somewhere and prepare for murder? Yeah. Tucking his hands into his pockets, he blinks at her slowly.]

Why are you here...?

But how did you get in here? I didn't know anyone else was here! [ And how long were you even up there?

As for his question, however... She breaks into a bright smile, throwing her arms into the air. ]

It's my temple! I found it!

I just got in...

[He broke in. He totally fucking broke in. Goddammit Chikusa.]

[Shuffling closer for the owl on the window, he glances down at Nanako at her excited declaration and raises his eyebrows slightly.]

Just now?

[ She guesses that's okay....?? ]

Yeah! I just found it this morning!

I thought you always knew where it was...

[A pause as he looks outside the window, blinking at the massive sprawling plantlife that's on the temple grounds.]

...Or that it at least had always existed.... somewhere.

[ She shakes her head. ]

I looked and looked before but I could never find it. Especially not right here! [ She'd spent all that time out wandering and exploring, after all. ]

But I couldn't figure out what my special power was either until a couple of days ago. Maybe that helped me find it?

[Huh. Weird.... But then, thinking of it, what does he know? Axel and his temple were always waiting for him- perhaps this is simply something that happens with gods.]

[Well... At least that explains what this place is, and he leans against one wall to slowly slide down to the floor sitting with his long legs sprawled out. Standing up is for squares, and people with energy.]

So what's your power, then...?

[And how would that have helped?]

[ Her expression brightens at that. ]

You wanna see?

...It won't set anything on fire, will it?

[Listen it's a legitimate question]

[ She blinks at the question. ]

N-nooo? I don't think so? It hasn't yet?

Good.... Alright.

[Show him, then. He's not going anywhere. The owl has hopped onto his lap so it, too, is presumably going nowhere.]

[ She takes a moment to focus in the way she's been practicing and after a second of stillness, a bright glow starts to emanate from her, surrounding her in a warm halo of light. It flares bright, almost blinding, before fading back to a soft glow, but when it does, Nanako is floating there, tiny wings on her back working to keep her airborne and a shiny gold halo perched above her head. ]

[The glow is worrying, if only because he doesn't know what to expect and it blinds his eyes, and it takes a bit of effort to keep himself from reaching for his weapons again. It's a little girl. He can probably handle her.]

[As his eyes adjust from the bright light to everything else, he squints at the sight before him.]

...You get wings?

[And a halo, apparently, but he has no idea what purpose that could serve.]

Yeah! [ She's very excited about the prospect of getting to fly. ] Mmm, the ayakashi don't like the light, either. I made one run away.

That's useful...

[Especially for when gods or shinki are weak, whether because they're new or because they're tired. Pushing himself up to his feet, he cocks his head at her and tries to reach out to poke the halo.]

How long...?

[ The halo bobbles but remains floating above her head as she peers up at it curiously. ]

How long for what?

Can you fly? Is it physical, or magical....

[On and on. Also now he's trying to loop his fingers through it. Can he just.... take this? Is it attached to her? He needs to know. For science.]

[ Her eyes cross for a moment before she swats his hand away. You can't eat that, Chikusa, stop it. ]

I dunno. It just shows up when I concentrate on it. And yeah, I can fly! But I'm still learning how.

[A small noise that isn't quite offended. Hey, rude. He wasn't going to eat it!]

It'll be good to know.... And why did you smack me?

You were pulling on it!

[ Obviously. ]

Did it hurt?

[it's not attached so how...]

Ummm.

[ She squints thoughtfully. ]

Not really. But it felt weird.
