The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[Then he doesn't wait for answer. He hears one and can't distinguish if it's out loud yet.]

That's not a name.

[He frowns. That's actually a good question.]

I don't remember. I guess someone gave it to me...

[But thinking about that stuff feels.... wrong. So he'll focus on the present.]

But I'm glad they did. Don't you want a name?

[Quattordici blinks at her.] Help with what? Getting food? You don't have to. Quarantanove and I are used to looking after kids. [He means this to include not just other kids, but themselves. And he almost stops for a moment in mild puzzlement after he says it, because he doesn't remember why they're used to it...but it feels natural enough.

He glances down at her legs. Just as it feels natural to look after themselves, he instinctively knows how it looks when someone's in pain.] Do your legs hurt?

Age 9

[For a minute, the boy just stares at the teen, listening to all of those thoughts scrambling through his brain.]

Maybe, geez, just stop being so loud. I have a headache already. You just need some food?

[That, at least, he can take care of no problem.]

[songoten]

I know that but I am older now. If I was taller just my legs would grow.

[He frowns at her, the prodding not helping or making him feel any better.]

You really think so? Feels like forever....and I still don't like Shizuo not fighting me cause I'm small.

[At least Sharak is always there there for him. Big or small. He appreciates that]

I know he can. I knocked him around a bit with Izumo before I went blond. Shizuo said he held back and that wasn't fair.

[Still feels bad about that but at least Izumo is healing.]

Anything I want? Okay!

[He grabs the nearest marker and starts drawing. It looks like a squirrel. It has an over sized acorn.

He's not bad actually, the drawing is pretty cute.]

[Oh, yay! Alluka beams, climbing up carefully onto the woman's back and holds on tight.]

Hehe~ [Ah, this is gonna be great!] Where should we go?

[ She just laughs, the sound streaming back through the air behind her as she takes off. She knows she's not as fast as he is, but she still does her best, graceful wings flapping furiously to carry her forward. He might beat her anyway, but she's going to make him work for it. ]

[songoten]

A friend. Actually, let me show you. If Nimbus like you, you might be able to fly around with me.

[He smiles at Goku and turns his head, calling up towards the sky]

Hey Nimbus! C'mon down! I got someone that wants to meet you!

[It takes a few seconds but soon a yellow cloud comes into view, streaking across the sky before speeding down towards the two of them. It circles around them once before screeching to a halt in front of Goten.]

This. Is Nimbus.

[Goten grins at Goku, patting the yellow fluff]

Action!

[It takes him a while actually. And he gets lost several times. But determination and perseverance finally prevail. Once he catches sight of her, he starts running.]

I did it! I found my way here all by myself, Grandmother!

[Praise him]

Oh, I see.

[He must have had a stronger constitution then. She does look a bit on the skinny, delicate side. Ayumu shrugs a bit.]

Today's been really weird.

[There's a flicker of something like sympathy before it vanishes again. She's not a very expressive girl at this age; something about showing emotion feels weak somehow.]

So what are you gonna do?

Age 9 Midday/evening

[ Speaking of a brat who could use his ass kicked, here's one who starts walking nearby Old Man Jay and is trying to figure out if he can actually see at all or if he's completely blind, but without asking - just staring. A lot. ]

Almost all of us are, those of us that have been brought here from somewhere.

And I'm not sure they look at the same criteria your or I might think to, when finding replacement gods. But it still seems to work out well, from what I've seen.

[She only gets that lead for so long before he catches up to her. She has gotten faster. Considerably faster even.
But she still has some work to do if she wants to ever race Goten for real. Still, it's impressive considering just a few days ago she was just learning. Age up or not. He gives her a thumbs up.]

Hey, you did get a lot faster, Nanako! You learn fast. But you're going to have to do better then that if you wanna beat me!

[He flashes a cheeky grin]

It's not over yet, Goten!

[ She just flashes him a grin when he catches up.

And then she abruptly drops into a dive, speeding down towards the forest they were winging above. She still has some tricks to play. ]

Why are you going around with them like that, then?

[ The boy goes to rub the area that was smacked, stopping just before when remembering the condition it was in. Also, not going to lie, the offer of ice cream was very tempting. He'd be ready to, but while the kid seemed to act a little older than they looked, he wasn't going to take advantage of one. Which means the ultimate(ly easy) test. ]

... How old are you supposed to be? An estimate's fine.

[It seemed like the right thing to do, from Reisi's point of view. If he's going to accept a god, he has to do so properly, along with its formalities.

He returns the sword to his side as he rises.]

I received quite a bit of information and some useful pamphlets. I'd greatly appreciate if you would show me where your temple is. But more than that, I ask that you name me.

[He wants to start working toward their goal as soon as possible.]

Sometimes it is. [ She gives him an honest answer as she remains crouched there, meeting his gaze. ] We listen to people who are upset about something - no matter how big or small - and do what we can to help them. Lots of people get upset when something - or someone - they cherish goes missing.

[Goten blinks slowly as she suddenly dives down towards the forest. What good is that going to do?

He could just keep going the way he is and just book it to her temple but he's curious to this plan of hers. How is a detour going to help? That is what it is, isn't it?

So he ends up chasing after Nanako, diving down as well]

That's not an answer, Izumo.

[ And she's going to be very persistent in getting one from him.

Not to mention, once she gets him in a chair, she holds her hands up between them and focuses, a warm white glow suffusing her hands and beginning to wrap around him. ]

[At least he's already gotten a decent foundation, then - Shun had read over one of the pamphlets, and it seemed like asking the current shinki what they'd most needed to know getting here had been a good idea on Aidos' part. He pauses briefly at the last request, though, looking Reisi over quickly before letting out a breath.]

So they can't even be consistent in that way. [That's more of a murmur to himself, but his voice comes back to normal as he explains his meaning.] The first time I was assigned a shinki, they came with a name. I thought it would be the same here, but if you don't have one then you're right, it's best to do it now.

[As much as Shun hates the naming spell for being long, unwieldy and way too formal for his tastes. He might need a moment to actually come up with something, though, and he simply watches Reisi for a few moments as he considers his options.]

He's my god. I just...want to make sure he isn't hurt or anything, you know?

[He smiles at Yuto]

She was from a country that existed a very long time ago. People prayed to her for help during many of the wars that occurred there. She looked after widows and orphan and anyone who was hurt or lost by the wars.

[ Which was the simple explanation of some of her duties, although they often extended beyond that as well. These were the ones, however, that Nanako had taken most deeply to heart, although she gave all the areas of Nanshe's dominion her attention. ]

I think that's very smart of you. You'll never know what delight you might find by accident when trying something new.

[BLESS YOU KAIRI! Kairi doesn't change! It's all he can do to resist just hugging her right there! Even if she doesn't remember him, she's still Kairi---just small!]

[He smiles warmly at her,
