The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

I'm concerned about my shinki. If you see them, can you give me a call? They'll freak out if I track them down, but I want to be sure they're all right.

Yep! Heh! [ His smile turns a little sheepish. ]

I got a lot because I couldn’t pick which one I wanted, and I was gonna eat them all, but—... [ he puts a hand over his own belly and shakes his head. ] So you can have as many as you want!

[heartshutter]

Mm-hmm!

[ Tatara bounces up onto the balls of his feet playfully, then leans in gesture to the can near her feet. ]

All you gotta do is kick it, and we can play together!

[heartshutter]

[ Tatara does indeed still look pretty much like Tatara, save for perhaps the addition of a few lines here and there on his ever-boyish face and a bit more length on his hair. It's discreetly ponytailed now, but Bandou would have to really look to see it, given all the shaggy layers it still hangs in.

But just as much as that's true, so is the opposite -- Bandou is still Bandou, unmistakably.

...Though Tatara doesn't get much of a look at him before he facedesks, literally. Discreetly, the elder signals to his server for some coffee for the other man before putting a hand on his shoulder. ]

San-chan, are you okay?

Mm?

[ At this age, Tatara hasn't met Mikoto yet, so he's just a grumpy stranger.

...A grumpy stranger that Tatara is going to latch to, just the same as Tatara does some years later. ]

[Riku has climbed up one of the trees, eager to see the world from a higher angle. He wouldn't call that getting into trouble… even if maybe a grown-up would think otherwise. Though this one doesn't seem so bad… at least she doesn't seem to be scolding him right away.]

[So, Sora is really here, great!!! And the other has already seen him, so he shouldn't be all too hard to find.

He nods, a little surprised that the other already knows his name… though if he's met Sora, it's not actually that surprising at all.]

Then again, Munakata's lucky to have found himself seated with the most diplomatic of that rowdy bunch. Even though he's no king to Tatara Totsuka, save for in title and rank, that doesn't mean the blond will be an ounce less cordial or respectful to him. (Which is more than the entire rest of HOMRA can say.) Wearing a genial expression, he nods. ]

Aah. And what about you?

[ He must have just arrived. ]

Is there anything from the menu you'd like? It's on me!

[Eh, Hak doesn't really care, nor does he try to correct himself. He scratches his cheek, looking around.]

[The girl didn't look very threatening, huddled against the wall crying like that. She'd seemed like she might be just as confused as she is in this situation.]

[ There's definitely something sort of similar as to what he feels from Alba coming from this boy. ]

[Regardless of how Kurosaki himself feels about the spell, Reisi finds himself fascinated by it and the formality of the ritual. There's sensation on his jugular on the left side as his name is branded into him. On a whole, he can't help feeling and looking somewhat pleased about the ordeal.

After its completion, he comments,]

[He's worried about the slightly extreme intent ("with my own hands," he'd said), but after hearing his story, there's no way Fubuki can argue with him now.] Don't worry your friends too much. [Even if they aren't here. ...Maybe especially if they aren't here.] You wouldn't want them coming after you again!

[In the meantime...] It would be great if that didn't happen again, but if it does, I'll be there again if you want to talk about it.

[Hiding his misgivings, he turns to Shun with as much of a cheery demeanor as he can under the circumstances.] You'll have to stay out of sight. Don't make any noise, and don't let the birds see you. Promise me.
