The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[They already have something in common. They're really good at those unblinking stares! For a moment, there's some strange standoff going on, an impasse created by both boys seemingly being unwilling to be the first to disclose.

Then Soujirou shuffles around the corner. He's holding a broom in his hand, much too big for his tiny stature, but apparently it offers him some comfort. And despite his awkwardness up to this point, he manages a very polite bow.]

I'm Okita Soujirou. I'm honored to make your acquaintance. [Still the same blank expression despite the formal tone, albeit with a hint of anxiety.]

[Coming from the little six year old elezen, Mandragora by his side but Aymeric had no clue why the nice kitty was following him, he just was. He did feel kind of bad for running away from the man he saw at the weird house but he was a stranger and Mama and Papa told him not to talk to them.

And then he met this kid! He's glad that he didn't shoo him away like most kids did back home...]

July 17

[The bright side that, while he's lost, Izuku happens to be lost by the school, and a small figure watching from one of the higher windows realizes that he's another lost kid.]

[So, as one does when they spot a kindred spirit, he opens the window and starts to throw rocks in his direction. His aim is pretty good, but he's just trying to get the other boy's attention, not beam him in the head.]

[She makes sure to have a solid grip on his hand as they head off. Ah, but the question makes her smile a little.]

I am Amaterasu. It is a pleasure to meet you again, Izuku-san.

[She remembers the name at least. So that will help her find his home. Good.]

With the energies that lay heavily upon your shoulders anyone you seek will be instantly repulsed! You will find all your ambitions turn to ash in your mouth.

Of course I'm sure. I'm the smartest out of all of my father's children and I'm older. This place will be just fine for the night, and then tomorrow we can go looking for our nannies.

[He smiles at the little weird-earred kid. Leo has no idea where he gets those ears, but he's cute and definitely can't kill him, so he's okay to hang around]

[Um, rude, just because some sea life would mistake a bit of plastic for a jellyfish and try to eat it doesn't mean Oona would!! She already learned that lesson shut up

She tilts her head one way and then the other curiously, before reaching out to take the umaibou, sniffing at it curiously. Well it smells good, so-- She takes a big bite, looking a bit startled at how the puffy thing falls apart easily, but nonetheless pleased.]

Good! [She reaches for Chikusa then, attempting to plant a kiss on his cheek. There's a happy crooning noise and a dreamy little sigh] Boyfriend.

And you're supposed to be a god of the sun. I don't see you changing it around.

[He huffs and waves a hand in annoyance.]

Look, time knows how things are supposed to be. If you wait a couple of days things'll snap back to the way they should be. Don't panic too much.

[Lance narrows his eyes and then stomps up to Mei, putting his hands on his hips.]

Oh yeah?? Well, guess what dummy! I do understand training.

[ July 16 - Morning - Closed to Mikleo ]

[ Eric's about 9 or 10 when he woke up and he knew today was going to be good. Why? Because who cares everything's great. He'll find something to do.

And he did. He's busy making something with another little boy, a small wooden stand, table...thing with a crude sign saying 'ice cream' in English, Japanese and another language from Mikleo's world. Eric's grinning ear to ear at his friend. ]

This is the best idea ever made! Mikleo is the coolest!

[ July 16 - Afternoon ]

[ Summer was here, and it was warm. But fear not! Because there's this kid with a tray of a couple of soft serve ice creams. He'll be close by the stand, trying to get any adults or kids to come by and try his friends tasty treat!

You might be the lucky one where Eric shows off a couple of the ones made, giving some good puppy eyes. ]

Hey! Want some ice cream? It's pretty hot so you can cool down!

[ July 17 ]

[ After the surge, Eric's a little older, about 11 or 12, but he's not looking so good. Wearing an oversized t shirt that showed burns and bruises, a large one around his neck like he had been wearing a collar. His clothes being too big only amplified just how skinny he was, a bit too bony for a growing child.

But Eric wasn't concerned much with looks so much as running, trying to find anything, something familiar because this wasn't suppose to be where he was suppose to be, and it was causing panic.

Unfortunately that meant his running might cause him to collide with someone and he topples to the ground. It only takes a moment for him to start to scramble back up, terrified of the consequences. ]

[Welllllll, he did say sorry, but that doesn't seem like enough with this one. Lance slows to a stop, looking back at Aymeric with wide eyes.]

[So much confusion. She's pretty sure this is Lavi though. But what happened to him? And... is there anything she can do? But she doesn't want to scare him. She'll play along.]

[A friend she already misses. A lot. She doesn't actually have a heart, so Cardia's not really sure what to make of the tight, almost painful feeling in her chest.

For now, she kneels down to put herself on his level.]

[Cardia is unaffected by the timey wimey nonsense going around but she's having some trouble keeping track of her newly de aged shinki. He keeps wandering off. Are all kids like that? Not that she's ever talked to anyone under the age of ten before.

But she's worried about all the awful things that could happen to him while he's like this. What if he runs into an ayakashi?

She starts off searching the library, both on the near and far shore. Then she tries several bookstores, a local park (kids like those right?), and eventually just starts looking in any random place that comes to mind.]

La- I mean, Shaye? Can you hear me?

[And anyone from the far shore will likely get stopped for a quick question.]

Pardon me, have you seen a small boy with red hair and an eye patch?

[ Eric had managed to come in and curl up in a corner in one of the more empty classrooms. It seemed a safe enough place...even if it wasn't the place he should be at. It was bad, bad, it'll be so much trouble.

He jumps at the question, staring at the eyes inside the blanket. Cold or...hungry, was the question. It was a hot day, so he wasn't cold but he hadn't eaten anything today. He shakes his head, can't eat, bad to eat. ]

N-no...no! I'm fine.

[ Is he lucky for remembering, or unlucky? He's not sure, but he's going to take care of Izuku, like he took care of him yesterday.

What kind of followup to his birthday is this..?

Shouto squeezes his hand when he takes it, his right one, considerably cooler than Izuku's, simply due to his summertime habit. ]

July 16 - Bitty Johan meet Bitty Yona

[Johan was riding on Sapphire Pegasuss when he notices the little runaway redhead.

So, he gently taps on Sapphire Pegasus' neck, earning a curious look from the Duel Monster before he points down at Yona. With a neigh, it drops down to her.]

[Oh geez what the heck is wrong with you?!

Goten stiffens and instinctively lifts the kid up off the ground by his arm to keep him from hitting the ground.]

Are you okay?! H-Hey... calm down!

[Oh wait, he probably shouldn't be holding him up in the air like that. So he slowly tries to place him down so he can stand on his feet....at least he tries to. He's not letting go though.]

July 16, pretend he's a bitty

Before - Hachiman's Temple

[He's got a bad feeling about this.]

[Of course, he's always got a bad feeling about things. That's who he is as a person. It doesn't help that in his experience, his bad feelings are usually right.]

[Hijikata is sitting on the veranda of the living quarters at his temple, smoking his pipe, looking out at the sky as if he's scrutinizing the far horizon for rainclouds.]

[The question right now is, is there any hope of knowing what's going on before it strikes, or should he just focus on being prepared to react the moment it does, whatever it is?]

July 16th - the Far Shore

[He's... a god?]

[He's a god.]

[Obviously, that "I'm gonna be a samurai someday" thing that people always laughed at him about was underselling himself!]

[Some of the clothes in his closet are a little bit confusing -- he's not quite sure how buttons are supposed to work, honestly, or Western-style shoes -- but he manages to find some yukata that look good, and spends a few minutes just admiring himself in the mirror on the closet door. (A full-length mirror! In his own home! How amazing is that?)]

[Sure, this place is weird, and if he's going to be honest, he misses his big brother and Kat-san and maybe even Souji, but that's no reason not to jump on an opportunity, is it? He grabs a wooden training sword from the dojo on his temple grounds, just in case there's any trouble, and heads out to explore the Far Shore!]

July 16th - the Near Shore - a shopping district in Tokyo

[There's something weird going on.]

[Toshizou is used to the way people react to him. He's used to turning heads without much effort, used to girls blushing and tittering, to other boys' admiration, to older men and women giving him the occasional appreciative, appraising glance. He might be from peasant stock, but he's damned if he's ever been common about it.]

[He's a grade-A heartthrob, damn it, so why isn't anyone even glancing at him?]

Tch... It's probably these stupid clothes...

[On top of being a little too big, they're so plain! There's nothing eye-catching about them at all!]

[Sulking a little, he begins to look for an accessory shop. Something in red ought to make this boring old outfit pop a little more...]

July 17th - the Far Shore, a public park

[Toshizou has got a lot on his mind right now.]

[It's been a little awkward to hang around his temple today, ever since Souji went from being the age he's supposed to be to being around his own age and distressingly attractive, so he's found a relatively quiet spot somewhere else to sit and have have a smoke and think.]

[Something's going on with people's ages, that much is obvious. And he's... he isn't unaffected, is he? That would explain why the clothes in his closet are too big. (It would explain why they're so damn boring, too. How old is he?)]

[The question is why it's happening, and what can be done. But he's only been a god for a day or so, and he's not even sure about how this is happening...]

[Spotting someone nearby, he looks them up and down with a curious eye. If he's been here a while already and doesn't remember it...]

...You. We haven't met before, have we?

Aftermath - Hachiman's temple

[...Oh, thank the heavens, it's over.]

[Hijikata lies down on his back in the grass of his garden, stares up at the sky for a moment or two, then rubs his face with both hands.]

...fucking embarrassment...

[And now he has to keep his memories of being that young and desperate and absurd? That hardly seems fair.]

[A small disaster, but nothing they can't handle.

He notes the cool hand against his own but won't mention it yet. His attention is completely on what Shouto just said.]

July 17th

[So after spending much of the day very young, Leo finds himself back in his proper body and frantically looking for where Forrest has gone off to because as much as he loves and trusts his son, he needs to find Brynhildr before something bad happens. That tome is more finicky than any of the women in those tasteless jokes...

And he finds Forrest.

He thinks. That sure is a tiny little child toddling around in a dress, so it might be a girl, but it feels like Forrest? Either way, they need help.]
